I See You Lying Next to Me

After arriving at my small, dinky apartment, I quickly headed up to my bedroom and stripped myself of my clothes. A smile still remained on my face as I couldn’t help but feel happy after seeing Gerard tonight. I actually felt that he was starting to see me as a friend now instead of a teacher. With several thoughts rummaging through my small head, I turned off the lamp on my dresser and hopped into my king-sized mattress. Although I was currently happy with how tonight went, my heart still ached for the poor boy. I couldn’t even imagine how rough it would be if I were to have a family like his. I sighed as I let myself sink into the soft blankets.I looked over at the other side of the bed as it looked unnaturally bare. I remember while Tess and I were dating she would always sleep over and sleep on that side of the bed. But now it was just me lying in this king sized bed for two. I shivered at the cold as I covered my whole body in the covers. Maybe one day I’ll have someone else to replace her side of the bed, and it will be somebody I truly loved and cared about. I smiled softly as I then finally drifted off to sleep, knowing that I would have to wake up early tomorrow as the next day was going to surely be a long one.

It was finally the next morning, and I was abruptly awoken by the sound of my alarm clock. I quickly turned it off as I hopped out of bed. ”Shit, another day of work.” I grumbled to myself as I quickly found an outfit to wear and got dressed. As I looked back at myself in my bedroom mirror, it was safe to say that I actually looked somewhat decent. With still plenty of time left to spare, I hurried over to my bathroom and styled my hair and applied a light application of eyeliner. I frowned as I then realized something was missing from my appearance. My eyes lit up as I knew what I was missing. My lip ring! I then searched the whole bathroom for it as I knew it must have been placed somewhere after I came home from dinner last night. After several minutes of looking for the damn thing, I eventually gave up and headed down the stairs to brew some coffee. As I started the coffee maker, the house filled with the pleasant scent of brewed coffee beans. As I continued to wait for my coffee, I then began to feel my pocket buzzing. I then pulled out my phone to see a number I didn’t recognize. In case if it was something important, I decided to answer it. “Hello?” I greeted. “Frank! You answered, thank god!” It was Gerard. “Is everything all right? You sound flustered.” I asked, sounding slightly concerned. “Yeah it’s just that this morning I forgot to put my homework in my backpack when my stupid brother spilt orange juice all over it!” I could then hear Mikey laughing in the background. “It’s not funny!” I heard him yell at his brother. “I’m so sorry sir-“”It’s fine!” I replied chucking. “Don’t worry about it, I wasn’t even going to check the homework today anyway.” I explained. He sighed in relief. “Oh thank you, thank you Mr. Iero!” He cheered. I giggled. “Frank.” I corrected him. “Oh right, well thank you Frank I’ll see you at school!” I smiled at the sound of his voice. “Alright see you then kiddo.” I replied as I hung up the call. I then poured myself a cup of coffee and finally headed out the door. I could tell today was going to be a good day.

As I arrived to school I was immediately proven wrong when a familiar brunette was sitting flirtatiously on my desk. “Tess what the hell are you doing here?!” I angrily grumbled.” She flipped her hair over her shoulder as she crossed a leg over the other. “You don’t know? Well maybe you should answer your phone calls Frankie, as it seems as if you haven’t lately.” She smirked. “Just tell me what the fuck you want so you can get out of my classroom.” I shouted. “I want you back, that’s what I truly want, Frank.” I sighed. “Tess you know that this can’t happen. I broke up with you remember?” She crossed her arms. “Oh I remember all too well, Iero.” She replied getting off the desk, and pacing slowly towards me. “Tess, get out of my class, I have students coming in within only a few minutes!” I exclaimed as she was only a few inches away from me. She pushed her chest against mine. “Oh hun this will only take a minute…” She whispered seductively as she grabbed my hair and forced her lips onto mine. I tried to push her off as fast as I could but she wouldn’t budge. She then forced her tongue into my mouth without permission as I stood there completely disgusted. With all my strength I finally pushed her off as she fell onto the floor. Her face grew red with anger. “I told you I don’t want to be with you anymore, Tess!” I yelled angrily. “You are going to pay for all this!” She shrieked. “Oh and what are you going to do?” I sassed as I placed both of my hands on my hips. “It doesn’t matter cause I am sure that I will not let this fucking slide Frank! You are going to regret dumping me!” She screeched as she stormed out of the classroom. Thank god she was finally gone. I tried to shake off the whole situation as I began to get ready for the first period of the day. I knew that one thing would make this shitty day better. And that would be seeing Gerard again.

As the bell for first period rang, a hoard of students began to rush through my classroom door. I waited for Gerard to come through the door so I could talk to him about the tutoring we would have tonight. As I sat there impatiently, I noticed Gerard had not come in yet. Everyone else in my class had taken their seat but there was no sign of him. I wonder where he could have been. Maybe he was just lying sick at home. I thought. I shook my head. There was no way he could have been sick though since he had phoned me this morning and he sounded perfectly fine. Then what could have possibly happened to him? I then began to nervously rub the back of my head as I thought of another possibility. What if something happened to him before he left home? I looked back at the door just hoping he would arrive late.”Mr. Iero?” One of my students called. I then turned my gaze from the door and to the young girl at the back of the classroom. “Yes, Suzy?” I replied sweetly. “Are you ok? You usually start the lesson once we walk in.” She muttered. “Oh I’m sorry, I’m just not with it today I guess. I will take roll before we start the lesson so stay in your seats.” I announced to the class. I then began to take roll as I noticed that not one student was missing, except for Gerard…the only person I would wish to see. This didn’t seem right. I thought to myself. Something must have happened to him…and I couldn’t help at all but worry.
