Don't Feel Bad For Me, I Want You To Know, Deep In The Cell Of My Heart, I Really Want To Go. There Is Another World, There Is A Better World...Well, There Must Be
Frank paused the film that had only been playing for approximately three minutes, just long enough to view a couple previews from popular movies. He turned to Gerard, a sad smile curving onto his face. "Do you want to see a different film?" he asked, wondering if his friend was displeased with the Daredevil movie.
"D-don't g-g-get me w-wrong, I a-adore D-dared-devil, b-b-but t-the c-c-comics a-a-are b-better," Gerard lit a cancer stick and threw two discs to Frank. "C-choose o-one o-of t-these." Frank examined the two covers, grinning at the infamous Grease.
The second one had an image of a man with a top hat and thick mascara on one eye. In perspective, he was holding out a dagger of some sort. It was a Stanley Kubrick film, and Frank was intrigued. "You've seen this film before?" In large letters, it read "A Clockwork Orange".
"Y-yeah," Gerard nodded. "F-for H-Halloween, I-I always d-dress as t-the m-main c-character."
"So he's your idol?"
"I-I j-j-just l-like the w-way h-he c-changes in t-the f-film...y-you'll see." Gerard threw away his cigarette and hopped off the bed to sit on the floor with Frank. "I-It's a-a-a g-good f-film."
"Maybe I should make some popcorn and coffee..." he was cut off my Gerard. "N-not a g-good i-i-idea! T-this m-movie i-is v-very v-violent!"
Frank huffed. "Alright. One violent movie doesn't hurt anyone."
They started the film, and it was an interesting experience.
This is what everyone thought the future would be like. Gangs, violence, and shit like that. The main character, Alex, was the leader of his gang. In the middle of the film, he got arrested, and put into an alternative treatment. Frank wondered what Gerard had seen of himself inside Alex. The alternative treatment changed Alex, and he no longer hurt others. But the ones that he hurt came back for him, causing him to attempt to kill himself. The movie ended very suddenly.
"This is the movie you really like?" Frank asked. "And...you see yourself in this character?"
"L-look, I-I've d-d-done a-a l-lot i-in m-m-my life," Gerard breathed.
"But you haven't killed anyone!" Frank exclaimed, laughing a bit. Gerard looked away. "Unless..." Frank cut himself off. "Gerard?"
"P-please...d-don't wake m-me u-up i-in t-t-the m-morning..." he coughed, wanting to say more. Please don't wake me up in the morning. Or the next. Or the next.
