Saving the Fabulous Killjoys (DISCONTINUED)

Chapter 10: I’ll turn it into seduction

Fun Ghoul

“Get down!” “OH CRAP!” I jumped out of the way as a smoke bomb was thrust into the room. The smoke quickly invaded the whole area. Someone grabbed my arm and yanked me outside. “Fun Ghoul! What were you doing in there?” “Jet!” “Put these on. Where’s Party?”

I put on the pair of goggles he had passed me and everything cleared. I let Jet across the blurry halls to where Party was. “Pony!” Jet screamed into the smoke. “Got it!” Someone yelled back. Party’s door burst into a million shards of glass and metal. “I can’t believe they had this in here!” Pony yelled through the smoke.

I looked into the room. Party was covering his stinging eyes and coughing. “Here.” Ray handed Party his black goggles and a bandanna. In a few seconds he was ready. “Pink?” he called. She didn’t look up. “Party…” Pony said, examining her closely “She won’t be able to run.” “Well… then I’ll carry her.” He went over to pick her up, but had to drop her. Ray shook his head. “I’ll do it, Party.”

We ran through the long halls as programmed smoke bombs covered us. More guards emerged and a shadowy figure joined us in the next corner. “The power is out in the whole city.” She said, getting into stride with the rest of us. “Cherri?” Party asked. “Party! You’re alive! Thank goodness! We’ve been worried sick!” the whole gang was here now… well… except…

Just as I thought his name, he appeared. We had to stop suddenly to keep from bumping into him. Everyone looked nervous. Suddenly, Pony did the most amazing and unexpected thing. He pulled out a handkerchief and put it over Michael’s nose and mouth. In a minute, he had him slung over his shoulder. Then, he turned to look at everyone’s amused faces. “What?” we all began laughing.

The second alarm reminded us why we were here and we resumed our escape.

We exited the building to madness. “Umm guys….” The van stopped right in front of us. Pony opened the door. Now I could see the driver. “Missle Kid?!” “Hey, Fun Ghoul!” she said, getting out of the driver’s seat as Cherri took her place. “Who taught you how to drive?” I asked suspiciously. “Pony did!” she said beaming. Her smile was magic. I couldn’t stay angry at her. Then, she saw Pink. “Who’s she?” “Long story.”

Once we were all in, we shut the door and took off. I don’t know how, but Cherri managed to navigate her way through the dark Battery City streets without needing to turn on the headlights.

So there we were.

Agent Cherri Cola: driving

Show Pony and Jet Star: shooting dracs

Kobra Kid… Michael…: knocked out

Party Poison: looking from Pink, to his brother and back again

Pink Insanity: in shock

And me, Fun Ghoul, listening to Missle Kid telling me about all the things she did when we were gone and the letter she was currently writing.

Korse

“Line up.” All the guards fell into a straight line. I was seething. “Why did you let them escape?” I asked the first. “They took us by surprise… sir.” I shot him on the head. I moved on to the second one. “Did you get the girl?” He gulped. “No sir.” Dead. I continued this way up until the tenth guard. He was standing straight. “Where’s Michael?” “The rebels took him.” Ah, some good news. “More guards to sector three.”

Missle Kid

I had a lot of questions I wanted to ask, but I could see that the guys weren’t in the mood to answer any of them. They were being so quiet… what had happened in there? I looked at Party. His usually smiling lips were droopy. “Party?” I asked, softly taking hold of his hand. He seemed lost. No reaction at all. It was like I wasn’t even there. “Missle Kid” Fun Ghoul said warily “Yes?” I was quick to answer, desperate to get them to spill any information. “Hand me that rope. Please.” I handed him the rope, and he began to tie up Kobra’s hands. I was genuinely confused. “Why do that?” “Kobra… isn’t himself right now.” Why wouldn’t anybody tell me anything? I was as big a part of the group as anybody. I mean… it was me that had just saved their sorry butts in the first place. I shook my head, shut my mouth and decided to look out the window.

Zone 2. No more dracs. The guys hopped back in the van.

A few minutes later, Kobra came to. He was as angry as hell. He instantly began squirming, but Fun Ghoul had tied up his arms, his feet and had gagged him. I understood a whole stream of muffled bad words I can never repeat or spell. Party’s eyes shot open. The amount of hate in Kobra’s eyes was incredible. Only one person was capable of such hate…. Korse. I shivered. Party looked at his brother’s face and began to cry. There was a huge smile on his face. Kobra looked confused at first; then he rolled his eyes. Party looked at the rest of the gang. At the sweaty faces and tired expressions; at the girl that was still passed out and was showing no sign of coming to any time soon; then, at his bandaged hand and began laughing like a madman.

He was crying and laughing now.

His laugh was contagious, and soon we were all laughing like we shared one big joke. Well…. All except Kobra and the girl. “Where are we going?” Party asked, when he had regained control of himself. “We are going someplace safe.” Cherri said from the driver’s seat. “Plus,” Pony continued “I found a stash of chocolate!” There was clapping and hooting. I smiled. I had only tasted chocolate one time… this was such a treat. Pony opened a plastic bag and pulled out some bars. We could only eat half each, but it was still incredible. The only time I had eaten chocolate was when…

I looked out at the desert with longing. I would be called back to my room soon. This was wrong. What they were teaching us… all of it. We all knew in out hearts that it wasn’t right… but it you cooperated, you lived. It was that simple.

I was about to step back into the building when I saw a person on the other side of the fence. I knew who it was. “Poison!!” I shouted. He came closer. I should be afraid, I should call the guards, but I didn’t. “Hello, little girl. What are you doing in there?” There was something in his hands. Something he offered to me and I took without a second thought. Despite what they wanted us to think, I knew he was a good guy. “Poison… how is it to live out there? To be free?” “Call me Party.” He said smiling. “And… it’s hard. I mean, you can’t shower every day… but it’s colorful.” Color… He must have seen the longing in my eyes, for that night, he broke me out.

My first taste of chocolate… and freedom.

“Okay,” Party said, snapping me out of my thoughts “Who the FUCK taught Missle Kid how to drive?!” an audible gulp. Then, Pony spoke up. “Er… It was me Party.” Party turned somber. Then, he smiled. “Good work! She drove this thing like a BOSS!” More laughing.

Michael

We arrived. The building was completely miserable. Had I lived in this?

I could hardly remember anything as to how I used to be… and if I remembered anything, it was moth-eaten. Something wouldn’t let me.

They dragged me inside and tied to me to… oh, what a surprise… a chair. Party Poison wasn’t around for the tying. What was it with him and his stupid sentimentalism?
I rolled my eyes again and Fun Ghoul laughed.

“If you keep doing that, they’ll get stuck up there.”

Then, they left.

I looked around. The room wasn’t tidy… but it was presentable. There, half hidden beneath a jacket in the closet was a bass. The bed also looked slept in. whose room was this?

I could picture Korse’s face, he was angry, no doubt. Maybe I could still redeem myself…

I closed my eyes and pulled on the ropes, hard to break free, but not impossible.

“NO!” I heard someone scream from outside. “Oh, come on Party” Fun Ghoul said “I tied him up nice and tight. He won’t touch her.” “I said no.” “No one’s sleeping on that bed. We can’t afford an empty one.” A moment of silence.

In a second, the door opened and Jet came in, carrying Shirley.

He placed her gently on the bed and looked over to me. “Don’t try anything funny. Party doesn’t approve of this.”

He left and I looked over at her.

Her eyes were wide open and she was trembling. The guys hadn’t washed the blood off her. Had I done this to her? Part of me was proud. A small part, way back in me, was ashamed. I thought back to the first time I had seen her defiant, loud, busy, happy self. Had I been like her? And if I had, it was all blurry.

I tugged on the ropes harder. “What does he see in her?” And why did looking at her make me feel guilty?

I closed my eyes and tugged again. It would take me…. Five hours to get out of this. But once I got out… I would get rid of this feeling once and for all. Hopefully, all these non BL/ind feelings would die with her. Yes, I would.

My head began throbbing. I ignored it and stretched my hands up towards the knot.
