Save Yourself, I'll Hold Them Back

Patrick was a trickster, there was no way in hell I was going to go into a room alone with him... it wasn't hard not to sleep. My eyes were wide open, waiting for Dr. Laguna to come get me. My legs were shaking, I was breaking down a sweat.
"Frankie, this is stupid."
"Geesh, you're still awake?"
Gee sprung out of bed and looked at me, "How could I sleep? Dr. Laguna is going to do more damage to your brain especially since he has a lot of anger towards you. Listen, if you're going to runaway the tunnels are behind the shelves full of old knives."
I looked at him, "And you're not going with me?"
Gerard blinked a few times but before he could open his mouth, our door swung open. A man wearing a long white coat and oval glasses stared at us. Dr. Laguna smiled, "Boys, come with me."
Gerard's eyes grew, "Me-too-?" He stuttered, obviously shaken by fear.
I jumped off the bed and held Gee's hand, "Don't be scared Gee."
Gerard stared at Dr. L and asked, "But why me-? I didn't do anything."
Dr. L pressed a finger up against his lips and hushed him, "Follow me, boys." He repeated as he slowly walked out the room.
Gerard grasped onto my hand tightly and turned to me, "Frankie-what's he going to do-ohmygosh what if he experiments on both of us-? What if he rapes-"
"Gee, stop." I led him out of the room and whispered, "This is our opportunity. You distract him once we get into the room and I'll knock him out. It'lll give us plenty of time to escape."
Gerard looked at Dr. L who was walking down the hall with no hurry. Gerard whispered back, "I don't know if I can do this, Frankie."
"You have too, Gee."
As much as I wanted to try and run with Gerard's hand holding mine, I knew I wouldn't be able to get far. Dr. L has caught me once, and he could do it again. Of course I was scared, especially since that if our plan didn't work, Dr. Laguna could stage a suicide scene or keep us as lab rats. I looked at Gerard whose lips were tucked in with worry.
You can do it, Frankie. Ray's voice echoed.
I took in a deep breath and turned a corner with Gerard. Dr. Laguna stopped and said, "Boys, I know you're scared. You think the doctor is going to pull the plug and let you sleep-but I just want the best for everyone. See it from my perspective. I do research on patients who all have their own disorder, phobia, or trauma. If I can look more into the brain, I can figure out how to prevent these issues. Don't you see? I just want to help."
Gerard scowled, "Yeah right."
Dr. Laguna sent a soft smile at Gee, "Gerard, poor Gerard. I've looked more into your file and I must say, your parents hold the record of being the most diabolical, twisted, human beings I have ever heard. But what if I told you there was a way we can erase that part of memory from your brain?" He looked at me, "And what I told you I can erase the voices in your head? You would want that wouldn't you?" He asked.
He took the words right out of my mouth.
He added, taking a step toward me, "I can help you if you help me." He smiled.
I felt Gerard's eyes on me. He was following my footsteps. Whatever I said, he would do also. But I couldn't trust this man. I couldn't trust anyone but Gee. Then again, sharing my thoughts was a hassle.
Hey, what about me? Ray asked.
I ignored Ray and looked at Gerard. He bit the bottom of his lip, waiting for an answer. I looked at Dr. Laguna, "Okay...but...don't hurt our brain too much..."
Dr. Laguna gave a Cheshire grin, "Alrighty. How about we step into my office?" He opened his office door and walked in. Gerard and I followed into a normal, boring office with a desk, painting, and plant. Dr. Laguna walked toward the plain wall and stomped his foot against the ground 3 times. There was an odd buzzing noise before a large piece of a wall revealed another door. He opened it and smiled at us, "After you."
Gerard hesitated but followed me close behind.
We were back.
Gerard stared at the metal table, and cringed.
Dr. Laguna walked over to the side of the table and asked, "Who's up first?"
I raised my hand. I walked over, feeling Gerard's hand slip away from mine. I stared at Dr. Laguna as I walked over to him. Time was going by slow as I took those steps toward him...but it sped up as I grabbed a knife scalpel. There was a sudden rush as I stabbed him in the shoulder. He yelled out as the blood stained his white coat...something inside me wanted to keep stabbing him. The urges took over so I snatched it out from his shoulder. I jammed the tip of the knife into his eye. There was blood. So much blood. But it wasn't enough. It'll never be enough. As Dr. Laguna fell onto the ground I grabbed the rusty saw that was hanging from the wall. I begun to cut into his skin, causing blood to splatter onto my clothing. Gerard was right. It was a huge rush and it felt right to kill the enemy.
I stabbed Dr. Laguna's chest one more time...I panted hard as his heart was dying down...and then he was dead. Finally dead.
I stood up and felt vibrations all over my body...I smiled at Gerard whose eyes were on Dr. Laguna's body. I said, "Gerard...is it wrong that killing him felt so right?"
Gerard shrugged, "I bet killing someone who was experimenting on your friends does feel good." He chuckled a bit.
I bent over and took off Dr. L's coat and wiped the blood off my face. I then dropped it and walked over to the wall full of knives, "How do I open this?"
Gee walked over and kicked the back wall of the knives-the back wall creaked open just a crack. I swung it open with all my might and came face to face with the long, dark tunnels that held our freedom.
