The Light Behind His Eyes
Chapter Twenty One
It was after school when Frank finally decided to notice me again. I heard him say goodbye to his group before calling my name. He caught up with me and smiled, "Today was better than I thought."
"Oh was it really?" I stopped and turned to him, "What made it so great? The part when you left me all alone? The part when you were surrounded by muscular men?"
"Gerard-"
"No, just don't. You're going to try to make me feel bad, you're going to try to make me apologize, but that's going to happen. Just because you have a fifteen minute fame around the school and people finally notice you, doesn't mean you could push me away..." His eyes locked into mine, "I just thought of you differently, that's all."
Frankie took a step forward, "You're being selfish. I know you love me and all, but I'm living my life, my way. So what if I joined a club? What if I'm enjoying my fifteen minutes of fame? I'm happy and to be honest, I like being noticed. Sure those bastards never noticed me before, but I'm enjoying it while it lasts. It's all going to go away, I know that for sure...can't you just let me enjoy myself?" He frowned, "Don't hold me back."
Despite all of his words, I said, "Don't ignore me."
Frankie took a step forward, and just when I was about to apologize, his hands cupped both of my cheeks, and pressed his lips against mine. I wrapped my arms around his waist and deepened it, pulling him in. He pulled away slightly, "I'm sorry," his words brushed against my lips, "Gerard, you're a big part of my life and it'd be a shame if you were gone from it."
So much pressure on Patrick
