I'm not okay...yet

"Alice, you're going to want to sit down", Annie begins,"Charlotte was just diagnosed with cancer. It's stage four and she's only got two months to live. She's refusing any sort of treatment and she says that all she wants before she dies, is to spend time with you and enjoy the time she has left." I start to cry, this can't be happening. Charlotte isn't supposed to die, especially not before I do. I wipe away my tears with my sleeve.
"Annie, if it's alright with you, I'd like to take Lottie with me on my road trip. We've set out for adventure and I think it could be the fun she's hoping for." I propose and Annette nods. Charlotte opens her eyes with a flutter and greets me in a hoarse voice.
"Ali cat, You came. I'm so glad to see you, it's so boring here; I need a little color again." She laughs and looks to her mother, who gives a weak smile.Charlotte rises from the hospital bed and holds onto he I.V. as she glides her way over for a hug. She's always had a graceful way of doing things.
"Char, do you think you would like to venture out into the unknown with me and my friend Gerard over here?" I ask, gesturing to him, sitting in the chair in the corner of the room. She squeals and jumps up and down, giggling "yes,yes,yes,yes", and in that moment her grin tells me that, cancer or no cancer, she'll stay her amazing self as much as possible for the next two months. She goes into the bathroom and changes out of the hospital gown and into her favorite A Day To Remember T-shirt and red skinny jeans. Then, Annie checks her out of the hospital, she packs a bag and we all tell Ann goodbye.
