Everything Will Be OK

***Several hours later***
It was now 6:00, and I could hear the sound of Gerard’s station wagon pull up into the driveway. I quickly turned off the TV and hopped off the couch, as a tired looking Gerard walked in through the front door. “Hey Taylor.” He wearily greeted. “Hi…” I quietly replied. “How are you feeling? You had a really tough night last night.” He asked in a concerned tone. “I’m better…”I said, not making eye contact. “Is everything alright? You’re acting weird. “He furrowed his eyebrows. I quickly went straight to the point. “Tell me, who is Lindsey?” I asked bringing my focus back to Gerard. His eyes widened. “I-I don’t know what you’re talking about…” His voice was shaky. I could tell he was bluffing. “Is that so? Well you left your cellphone here, and some woman called by the name of Lindsey.” He gulped. “W-what d-did she say?” Oh I don’t know…something about needing to talk about insurance for a baby. What the hell was that supposed to mean?” He was speechless. “Gerard, what was she talking about?” I asked more impatiently this time. “Look, she probably just called the wrong number…” I crossed my arms. “Oh really? Then why did she refer herself as your ex-girlfriend?” I asked, raising my voice. He sighed. ”Alright I’ll tell you…She is my ex-girlfriend…but we’ve been broken up for quite a long time now.” He confessed. “Then what was she talking about a baby for?” I desperately asked for answers. He nervously bit his lip. “Well you see…just last week she called me telling me that she was pregnant with my baby…” He buried his head into his hands, obviously afraid to see my reaction. My jaw dropped in shock. Was he actually being serious? I tried to find something to say, but I was completely out of words. “I tried to tell you…” He said, his hands still covering his face. “Is that why you-“He cut me off. “Broke up with you?...Yes…I just didn’t have the guts to tell you why…” I brushed my bangs out of my eyes. “D-does that mean that you were actually telling the truth when you said that you still loved me?” He took his head out of his hands and brought his eyes up to meet mine. “Of course. “He replied, giving me a weak smile. “Well if you still love me, then why don’t we make us a thing again? Gerard, I don’t care if you’re expecting a child. I will do anything to be with you, even if it means helping you out with the baby…” I mumbled as he embraced me into his arms. “Oh Taylor, that’s very sweet of you, but you don’t know the responsibilities of taking care of a kid.” He chuckled. “Oh come on, how hard could it be?” Gerard bent down and gave me a soft kiss on the nose. “Are you really up for that?” I giggled. “Anything for you.”
