Everything Will Be OK

There standing at the front of the porch, was my stepmother. I quickly pushed Gerard off as me as we both stood there awkwardly. I was extremely scared on how she was going to react, but Gerard’s presence made me feel somewhat safer. “Well, are you going to answer me or are you going to just stand there? “She said bitterly. I gulped. “She turned her gazes to Gerard. “Now who the fuck is this?” She hissed. I didn’t know how to reply. I couldn’t just say that he was my art teacher. If I told her that he was one of my teachers, she would not hesitate to turn him in. “Um-uh…th-this is G-Gerard…” I mumbled. She furrowed her eyebrows and my hands began to shake. I turned to look over at Gerard to see him speechless. ”Hmm you look familiar.” She said. I spoke for him.” Oh… well uh-he’s a neighbor of ours…” I lied, hoping that she would be convinced. “He was just stopping by to say hi.” I continued on. He nodded nervously. “Defiantly seemed like it.” She replied sarcastically. Gerard blushed. “Well now that’s all cleared up, will you tell me why you are a fucking hour late?” She said angrily with her arms crossed. “Because I-because I lost track of time I guess.” I mumbled quietly. Her eyes grew dark and furious. “I am fucking sick of your shit Taylor!” She yelled at me in front of Gerard. Gerard’s facial expression went from nervous to angry. “Don’t you dare talk to her that way! You are her legal guardian so you should show her some respect.” He shouted at her. I was in complete shock. I had never seen anybody stand up for me before.

I was almost about to cry from being scared of what she might do to me once Gerard would leave. “Don’t you teach me about respect! I don’t care who you think you are, but I don’t want to ever see you back here ever again!” She screamed back at Gerard. ”I think its best i-if you go…” I whispered to him. “No I’m not leaving you!” A tear rolled down my face. “Gerard, you will make it better for both of us if you just leave…” He gave me a sorrowful look. “Ok…I understand…” He said quietly. I could tell he was worried for me… but he didn’t deserve any of this. “Bye…” I quietly mumbled back at him. He walked down the driveway and reached his car, when I turned around as my stepmother slapped me. “Ow!” I squealed. I knew it was just me against her now. She began to yank me by the arm, when I began to cry and scream. “Shut the fuck up!” I cried more and more, when Gerard turned his gaze from his vehicle back to me. He began to race towards us. He pushed my stepmother off of me. “Don’t you touch her, you monster!” He yelled. She nailed him right in the face. I screamed. “Oh my god! Gerard are you ok?”My stepmother turned to face me. “I am fucking done with you Taylor! I don’t care about what happened to your father, because you live with me now, and if you are not going to obey me, then you are going to get punished!” She kicked me straight into the gut and threw me to the ground. “You can go find someplace else to live now, because I am fucking done with your shit! She then slammed the front door leaving both Gerard and I in pain and shock.
