Troubled [Frerard]
5. Weeks
It had been nearly a month of the consistent sessions between Frank and Gerard. Of course, Gerard had been following conduct as strictly as he could, trying not to be a creep. It had worked at first, he was forming a healthy relationship with Frank, but at the same time- the more Gerard learned about Frank, the more he grew infatuated.
"I think I just kind of feel like I'm locked up in here." Frank sighed, staring at his feet. Gerard nodded and wrote a note on his clipboard paper. "You mean you think you'd be happier if you could have more freedom?" Gerard asked as he jotted away. "Yeah! Like I know I would. Three closest thing we have to freedom is on Sundays when parents visit, but mine don't. I miss going into town." Frank went on, looking up exposing his glazed over hazel eyes. "I mean, I think that's the reason why Mikey and I sneak out anyway."
"I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that." Gerard chuckled, finally looking up from his writings. "Could you sneak me out or something? Mikey told me you did that for him once or something." Frank groaned, resting his chin on his hand. Gerard genuinely thought about it, taking Frank to the local comic book store or getting lunch like they were normal friends. "It's out of this question. And against the rules." Gerard smiled, shaking his head.
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever. Here I was thinking we were friends." Frank joked, rolling his eyes. Inside his head, Frank knew that Gerard would eventually agree. He felt bad for being emotionally manipulative, but if it meant actually sneaking back into civilization it was something Frank could deal with.
"Well, I'm just your therapist but I'm flattered you think of me as a friend." Gerard smiled, trying not to put too much meaning into his words. "Are you really just my therapist though?" Frank arched his brow, messing with the man sitting in front of him. Gerard's face instantly shot into a confused expression. "Yes. Though, I'm your friend too apparently." he spoke slowly. "Well okay then." Frank answered, sitting up properly on the couch. "But can I just say friends are supposed to sneak their friends out of their boarding schools." he added.
"Guess we're not that close of friends then." Gerard shot back with a sharp smile. "I believe our time is up, Frank." he spoke as he checked his watch. Frank nodded and stood up, brushing off the non-existent dust off his slacks. "What do you do after our sessions end?" Frank asked curiously. "Do you sit around and think of me?" he teased, a smug grin lacing his face. Gerard shook his head, noting that Frank had been making those type of comments a lot recently. "No, Frank. Why do you ask, first of all?" he answered, standing up from his own chair. "Because I don't necessarily have to be back in my dorm for a couple of hours." Frank said, getting amusement from taunting Gerard like he was. "And you're suggesting what exactly?" Gerard sighed. "Maybe we could smoke in the trees together?" Frank suggested, picking at his nails. There was evidently soot- or something lodged in them. "I don't condone smoking." Gerard shrugged, shifting his weight onto one side and crossing his arms. "Doesn't mean we can't do it." Frank smiled, pulling a cigarette out of his back pocket. Gerard stayed silent but shook his head. He knew he couldn't. He knew exactly what Frank was doing too, taking advantage of him.
"Your loss." Frank yawned, turning to leave. "Why do you act like I find extreme joy being around you?" Gerard accused, despite keeping his tone friendly. "Like for someone who admits they don't have a lot of confidence you're awfully sure that I'm interested in spending time with you."
"Aren't you though?" Frank challenged, spinning back on his heel to Gerard. They were awfully close, and both of them pretended like it didn't distract them. "I don't know what exactly Mikey has told you, but I do know the gist of it. Personally, I prefer it when people question generic teen gossip about staff rather than just take it on like it's fact." he explained quickly- but not rushed.
Frank tensed and nodded, then decided to leave. Humiliation began to form in his chest, perhaps he shouldn't have just accepted Mikey's word as gospel.
