The Beat Of Ticking Hearts

Kobra watched her for only a minute, the others came running towards her. They started laughing and smiling, he wanted to kiss her again. "What's wrong?" Gerard shook Kobra out of his trance. "You spaced out for a second." Kobra pointed to the four girls standing by the van. "What? The girls, what about them?"

"I haven't seen them in so long."

"Why not? Do we break up with them or something?"

"No, they all die in a fire caused by the BLI." Kobra couldn't hold back anymore and walked to the group. They all stopped talking to look at the stranger. Emily, who was always the sweetest to anybody, smiled at him. The others were more preserved, untrusting of strangers. "Sorry to interrupt but I had to see you Emily." She looked at him, to her his eyes reminded her of someone.

"How do you know my name?"

"My name is Kobra Kid, I'm a Killjoy from the future. My real name was Mikey Way." Heather, being the most protective, stepped in front of Emily.

"Okay crazy, why don't you just walk away." That's when Gerard appeared next to Kobra's side.

"He's telling the truth, he's Mikey from the future. He needs the guys to go back with him to save the world. We're gonna be superheroes or something."

"Mikey ran off though and we need to find him. Have you guys seen him?" They shook they're heads no, so they went off searching again. This time Emily, Kobra and Heather were one group and Gerard, Kaitlyn and Lydia were the other.

"So if you're Mikey from the future do me and him stay together?"

"What about Ray and I?"

"Ray's Killjoy name is Jet Star and yes you all stay with us throughout everything. You even become Killjoys yourself, pretty badass ones too. Emily you become Shattered Heart and Heather you become Skye Blu."

"What's the future like?" Kobra had expected questions like these but he didn't expect them from his love and one of their friends. He pondered telling them their fate, would it help anything? Maybe if he warned them they could stop that part of the future from happening. There's also the possibility that if he told them that it would change the future drastically.

"It's a bad time, the Better Living Industries runs the city. If you don't follow their rules and live by their means of life then they eliminate you. Killjoys are sort of the vigilantes of the city, we hide outside the walls in the desert. We all end up getting married together, but the happiness never lasts long."

It was Heather who asked the next question, curiosity getting the better of her. "What happened?"

Kobra took a deep breath before answering her. "The BLI find where we were hiding and came when we weren't there. The guys were on a raid finding supplies, leaving you girls back at the diner. By the time we came back, the diner was burnt to the ground with you all inside."

"So we're dead in the future? Can't we change it somehow?" Even Jet Star had warned them about even talking to them, Kobra was going to give his idea.

"You could come back with me, I bet anything Jet, well Ray would love to see you again." They stopped walking, Heather looked at Emily and put a hand upon her shoulder.

"You know we wouldn't be able to stay though. This is our time and the versions of you in this time are who we belong with."

"I know." Emily took Kobra's hand in hers and kissed his lips softly. She knew then that this really was Mikey, he may look different but his kiss never changed. They started walking again when Emily thought of where Mikey would go to et away. It was a little spot in New Jersey he had taken Emily to for a romantic secret date. She told Kobra to stay behind to make sure the others would be ready to go and told Heather to say her goodbyes to Ray.

Emily ran to where she thought Mikey went, a hidden area where lightning bugs frequent and lit up the sky. A small pond with a gentle waterfall made a soft water flowing sound that echoes in quiet nights. When she arrived she saw her lanky boyfriend sitting on the ground, cross-legged, playing with the grass.

"Hey Mikey, can I sit?" He nodded at her and she sat beside him. "So I met future you, and he told me why he's here. You hve to go with him, there's no other way."

"I can't."

"Why not Mikey?" For the first time since Emily arrived Mikey looked at her with sadden eyes.

"What of something happens to me? I won't come back to you and you'll be left alone. I don't want to leave you, I love you Emily." She almost started to cry knowing that sometime in the future she would be dying and leaving him alone.

"It's scary, but the world needs you. You need to be my hero, go and kick some ass to protect me from the evil."

"Come with me?" Emily of course wanted to go, who wouldn't want a chance to time travel? She agreed to go along with him into the future, hoping it wouldn't disrupt too much. Walking back to the bar hand in hand she saw that Heather was standing by Ray. However Kaitlyn and Lydia were no where to be found.

"Where's the others?"

Kobra appeared, "they're staying behind. Knowing the other two, I'm pretty sure different eras of Kaitlyn and Lydia will be present in the future. So I'm taking you and Heather with me and hoping the others only being back their girls." He walked away looking around making sure no one was there to see them off. Kobra couldn't believe how well this was going, sure it took a couple extra hours to find Mikey but still plenty of time.

"Ready?" They all agreed and the five boys and two girls huddled together. Kobra clicked a switch on his device and a bright light surrounded them. As they went into the future Kobra noticed they were seeing visions of their past. However a vision with Emily and Korse appered, right before Korse kills her everything went black. Did anyone else see that?

Things slowly lit up again, computers beeping ad the sound of someone typing away on a keyboard was present. "Kobra you're back already. Of course Bullets us would be easier to convince, we all were ready to believe in that science fiction shit." Jet Star noticed a face that wasn't suppose to be. "Kobra what is she doing here, I thought I said no. Emily isn't suppose to be here, this could ruin something."

As Jet continued to yell and scold Kobra for bringing Emily back, Heather slowly moved from behind the crowd. She gently touched his face as her presence was still unknown to him.

"Ray?"

Jet turned to face the new voice. He nearly fell at that moment, seeing her beautiful eyes and smile again. It was there he couldn't control himself and embraced her in a passionate kiss. Ray turned to Frank and asked, "should I be angry and jealous at this?"

"Not sure man, I mean it's you so she's technically not cheating."

Jet broke the kiss and apologized, "Heather is it really you?"
