Fake Your Death
Chapter 2 - Some People Pray
*two years earlier*
“Gerard Way, do you take Jade Richardson to be your beloved wife?”
“I do” he smirked back. The vicar turned to look at me. My heart stopped.“Jade Richardson, do you take Gerard Way to be your beloved husband?”
“Of course I do” I replied back, grinning at Gerard.
“Then I pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss your bride.” Gerard pulled me in by the waist and kissed my lips. I kissed back, playfully biting his lip softly. Behind us, everyone cheered loudly as the church filled with the sound of bells. We broke the perfect kiss and faced our families and friends who all looked at us with beaming smiles. Gerard kissed my cheek and then whispered quietly in my ear,
“You look beautiful Mrs. Way.” He then grabbed my hand as we walked down the aisle, finally as a married couple.
Outside, the sun shone over the massive garden as everyone drank champagne. One after another, people came over to congratulate us before making their way to the reception which was inside one of the manors halls. Gerard clung to my side as the last few people made their way to us. I turned and looked at my new husband to see his hair shining in the midsummer’s sun. He had decided to dye his hair brown for the wedding He looked back, catching me smile. “I can’t remember the last time you smiled like that” he said hugging me. I couldn’t remember either. To be honest, I didn’t have a reason to until now. The last few people consisted of Gerard’s band mates and my best friend Harriet. Ray reached us first, taking Gerard off me and pulling him into a hug.
“I’m proud of you man. You bagged a good one” he said as everyone agreed. I secretly giggled but was suddenly interrupted by Harriet screaming at me and pulling me into a hug, nearly making me fall over.
“Be careful!” I said raising my voice.
“Hands off my lady” Gerard excitedly said. I turned to him and the boys. All of them were smartly dressed up; all wearing yellow flowers on their chest. Frank caught my ear and winked. I looked back at Gerard who smiled brightly at me. Mikey suddenly hugged me, followed by Frank.
“Welcome to the family, sis!” Mikey said as him and Frank stepped off me. Gerard wrapped his hand around my waist and then showed everyone to where we’ll be eating.
The rest of the night was spent dancing and laughing. Around midnight, everyone started to slowly leave when Gerard grabbed me the wrist and lead me into the gardens. Once we were deep into the gardens, he put his hands over my eyes and whispered in my ear,
“I have something to show you.” Slowly he guided me to the hidden surprise.
“Keep your eyes closed” he said after a while. Once I promised that I would, he took his hands off my eyes.“Open them” he said. I opened them to reveal Gerard sat on a stool holding an acoustic guitar. All around him in the trees were fairy lights and on the ground candles. I couldn’t help but not shed a tear.
“I wrote this song for you. It’s called summertime,” he said and started to strum the first few notes.
The song was so beautiful. Gerard’s voice sounded flawless against the sound of the guitar. Throughout the whole song we looked into each other’s eyes. Cheesy, I know, but at that moment, it was perfect. As soon as the song was finished, he placed the guitar on the floor. I ran to him and gave him the best kiss ever. A perfect way to end the perfect day.
