Fake Your Death
Chapter 10 - We Like To Use
2010
*CRASH*
I jolted up from my dose to a loud noise in the hallway.I looked at my phone to see it was 3:00am. Fuck. There’s someone breaking in. I grabbed the nearest thing to me, which happened to be a wine glass, and tip toed to the doorway. I could hear a muffled whisper come towards me as I prepared for attack.
“Dude, be quiet. She can’t know” said a familiar voice.
“Know what?” I asked, revealing myself from behind the door as I flicked on the hallway light. In front of me stood a startled drunk Frank and Gerard, both dressed in similar clothes. Frank tripped over as he walked back while Gerard stood with his head in his hands. “You guys have been drinking again!! Haven’t you? You promised Gerard” I shouted. He bluntly walked past me into the living room and collapsed on the dirty white sofa. “FOR FUCK SAKES GERARD! YOU FUCKING PROMISED AND NOW YOU SAY NOTHING. I’VE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS! YOU NEED TO BLOODY STOP.” He stared up at me in a confused way.
“Babe. Listen,” he interrupted, flipping his bright telephone box red hair out of his lost eyes.
“Don’t you “babe” me”
“Just listen. I promised, I broke it. You can’t change the past.” And with that he fell asleep, pissing me off more.
“You little prick” I pulled him off the sofa and into our bedroom that was across the hallway. The orange tinge of the lampposts seeped through the curtains onto our messy bed. I pushed Gerard onto the old bed and pulled his muddy shoes off before pulling the thin covers over his slim body, just like I did in the past. He was right. You can’t change the past but you can change the future. I stroked his soft head with back of my hand before making my way to his drunk friend who was currently trying to sleep on our hallway floor.
I shuddered at the touch of the cold kitchen floor on my bare feet. As I reached up to grab a glass for Frank, a sharp pain shot down my side causing me to slip and pull down several glasses.
“Jade, you okay?” Frank said stumbling into the kitchen.
“Yeah sweetie. Just slipped. Stay away from me cause there’s glass everywhere” I replied, rubbing my head. Frank, ignoring my wish, came over to help me up. I made instant eye contact with him. He moved a piece of my messed up hair still making eye contact with me. Quickly, he looked at my lips before leaning in. Almost instantly, I pushed him away. I stepped back away from him.
“What have I done?” he whispered, shaking his head. I just stood there shocked. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have done that” he said reaching for me.
“Get away from me Frank. You’re right. You shouldn’t have done that” I said, stepping back.
“Gerard didn’t refuse it. Not even after the third time. Oh god. What have I done? I have to go” and with that he ran out, leaving me speechless. What did he mean by Gerard not refusing?
