The anticipation of a perfect night

The Lunch Date Part I

It all started when Gerard met Frank junior year. They became friends quick, and best friends even quicker. Today is the day right before senior prom. Even though they were amazing friends, Gerard didn't want to be friends with Frank, he wanted to be something more. Gerard was over the moon when he found out that Frank didn't have a date for Prom. This was his chance to make his move, and he was going to take that chance. Gerard and Frank sat in the only class they had together, Chemistry II. Thank god it was fourth period, the second that bell rung everyone would bolt out of the room and make a beeline to the cafeteria with snack money in hand. Frank and Gerard were above all that, though. They wouldn't wait in lunch lines. Almost everyday, the two would take Gerard's car to a nearby cafe. They always had a great time at the cafe, they would drink coffee and and eat salads and just forget what people thought of them.

They sat in the Chemistry Lab, room #22A taking notes on Solubility. They had seven minutes until class was over. The two sat on opposite sides of the room, but that didn't stop the two from staring at eachother during the entire length of class. They barely ever payed attention to what the rest of the class was doing, they mostly just noticed eachother. For a change however, today they were actually taking notes. Mr.Edwards had recently told the class about the single most important exam of the entire year that was only two weeks away. It would cover the material of 3 units and 8 individual chapters. Everyone had been cramming like crazy.
When there was a Chem exam, every student in the class would find every scrap of information about the chapter they could find. They would use every bit of the class notes and ransack sparknotes.com for additional information. If there was a piece of information that could potentially help them on a Chemistry exam, they would take it. It was cute and pathetic how desperate the Chem kids were about studying.
Frank looked up at the clock, only 4 minutes left.
He was almost done taking his notes, just a few more words to go. He finished in about 30 seconds and relaxed in his chair until class was over. Frank was good at taking notes, reading them not so much. Frank skimmed over his notes until Mr.Edwards told the class that they could pack up and get ready to leave. Frank packed up his stuff pretty quickly and walked over to Gerard, who was still taking notes for the upcoming test. Gerard could be a pretty bad stress-mess if there was an exam big enough. Before Frank walked up to him, Gerard was scratching random notes on random pieces of paper. Gerard had already written down what he needed for the exam, he was just scribbling down some extra notes for the extra credit review questions at the end of most huge exams like this.
Frank had finally walked all the way up to Gerard's desk and spoke.

"Hey, ready for some lunch? I'll pay." Frank asked.
Gerard dropped his pencil and replied to Frank's question.
"I'm starving, lunch sounds amazing right now.
Gerard packed up his textbook, notebook, and pencils away and got ready to leave.
As Gerard got out of his chair, Frank spoke about some possible plans for tomorrow.
"So about tomorrow, do you wanna go to the movies?" Frank asked casually.

Gerard fluttered and he could feel the butterflies in his stomach. Gerard had the biggest crush ever on Frank, but of course Frank didn't know that. Gerard really wanted to take Frank to the Prom tomorrow. They went to the movies as friends all the time, practically every weekend. They were always together on the weekends and they always had fun. Gerard wanted to have fun, just a different kind of fun. He wanted to go out with Frank more than life itself. Gerard cared about Frank way more than he cared about most things and people. He quickly replied something to change the subject from the regular platonic movie plans.

Before he could respond, the bell rang.

Lunchtime!

As Gerard and Frank walked out of the Chemistry Lab, Gerard finally responded.

"We always go to the movies, we should do something else for a change." he responded.

"Like, what?" Frank asked.

"We could crash a crappy dive bar and scope out a few local bands" Gerard suggested.

The only thing Frank loved more than crashing scenes and parties he wasn't supposed to be at, was listening to the crappy local bands of Jersey City.
"That sounds like fun, but I can't. Grounded." Frank said.
The two walked down the hallway and to their lockers to ditch all their Chemistry binders.
Frank confidently strolled to his locker to out his backpack away.
Gerard however, was a nervous wreck. He started panicking because a needed to pitch a few ideas before he could pull out the Prom card. Gerard had a major problem with being subtle and hinting what he wanted.
Frank accidently left his locker open but wasn't phased by it at all.
Gerard temporarily forgot his locker combination and started panicking as he attempted to open it three times.
Gerard finally opened his locker and tried to cram all of his binders into his it before Frank came up to him.
He put all of his binders in one part of his locker, which he almost never does.
French, English, Geometry, Chemistry, Art, History, he put it all in one giant stack.
After putting his bookbag into one corner of his locker and grabbing his keys, Gerard shut his locker and started nervously walking over to Frank.
Frank was looking through his messy locker for some money, since he promised that he was going to pay for lunch. Gerard came up to his locker and asked,
"What are you looking for?"
"Just my wallet for lunch." he responded casually.
"Oh okay" Gerard said
"Found it!" Frank said,excited.
Gerard loved it when Frank was excited about something, he thought he was cute whenever he was. Frank pulled his old leather wallet from his locker and slammed it shut.
"Come on, dude. Let's go!" Frank said.

The two started walking down the long hallway to reach the front of the school. They started walking a little slower when Frank started talking.
"Gerard, I love your idea of crashing a crappy bar, I think it's cool. Sorry I can't go with you, I got grounded yesterday." Frank said.
The reason why Frank was grounded interested Gerard. He wanted to know why Frank was grounded.
"What did you get grounded for?" Gerard asked.
"Ok so, y'know that kid Ray? I tp'ed his house yesterday and some neighbourhood kid saw me and ratted me out to my mom and she grounded me." Frank replied.
"How long are you grounded for?" a curious Gerard asked.
"Three days. The standard. Don't worry though, my little cousin is coming over tomorrow and my mom is always distracted by her, so I should be able to manage a sneak out and I can join you in the fun." Frank said to Gerard.
Gerard always loved that bad-boy element that was engrained into Frank's personality, it gave him an edge that no one else he knew really had. The rebel-ness of Frank turned him on.
"Oh that's cool." Gerard tried to reply casually.

The pairing was almost at the front of the school, prepared to get into Gerard's crappy car and eat. Gerard got his car last summer, he finally reserved the confidence to spend all of his baby-sitting money. The two finally got to the outside of their school, the front lawn, which they both hated. They hated the front lawn for many reasons, but mostly because it was crawling with "angsty" freshman who claimed to be goth and hardcore, but were just actually going through their scene phase. Also the meathead jocks and stuck-up cheerleaders would sit at the typical cliche table. It's exactly what it sounds like. The Quarterback and the Head Cheerleader are the couple sitting next to eachother while the people who sit next to them are arranged by their rank. Towelboys and the bottoms of the pyramids weren't even allowed to sit with the rest of the "real team", even though both teams would be a complete mess without them. Also there was the"eco-kids", the "nature freaks", the "tree huggers". It doesn't matter what you call them, they're weird either way. Gerard and Frank tried to skip over the whole stereotypical, separated cliques and just make it to Gerard's car before someone noticed them. That was the last thing they wanted to happen to them. They loved being with eachother, but they hated being noticed by people who could potentially hurt them, verbal or otherwise. They made it to the parking lot without a hitch. Gerard unlocked his car and the two got in. Gerard and Frank put there seatbelts on them. Gerard turned on the ignition and peeled out of their crappy high school parking lot, ready to eat.
