Cemetery Drive

Gerard wandered into the kitchen to find Mikey at the table. There was a cup in front of him and he sat slightly slumped back against the chair.
"Morning.." Gerard looked at his brother, who was now staring at him.
"Gee, can I ask you a question?" Gerard opened his mouth to make the classic 'you just did' joke, but noticed the serious look on Mikey's face and closed his mouth again. He nodded and waited for Mikey to ask.
"W-Why...Why did you leave?" Gerard froze and looked at his younger brother.
"Mikey, I've told you before-" Gerard started to say but was interrupted.
"No, no Gerard, I know you've said you'd rather not talk about it. But I want, no I need to know why you left?" Mikey looked up at his brother, practically pleading him to talk. Gerard shook his head and started to walk away from Mikey.
"Gee, please?" Mikey grabbed his arm and refused to let go.
"You just got up and went. You didn't even tell me why or where. You just disappeared. Mum and dad refused to tell me where you were and why you went. I needed you for so long and you weren't there," Mikey felt tears prick his eyes as he stared into his brother's eyes.
"I'm sorry, Mikey. I really am, but I can't tell you what happened" Gerard tugged lightly away from Mikey's grip and turned away from his brother, suddenly unable to look at him. He couldn't believe he had caused that much pain to his younger brother.
"What happened?" Mikey's voice was barely a whisper. But the question still sent a shiver down Gerard's back. How could he explain what happened? How would Mikey even react? Gerard turned back to his brother and took in a deep breathe.
"You really want to know?" Gerard raised an eyebrow at his brother.
"I need to know" Mikey pleaded. Gerard sighed and looked at the floor, trying to think of a way to tell his brother.
