Counting Down The Days To Go (Frerard)

New Kid

"Are you sure you wanna go to class?" Gerard asked me as I slung an arm around his shoulders to keep me up. "You took a pretty bad beating, you shouldn't be walking."
I rolled my eyes. "I'm fine, Gerard."
He frowned. "We can stay down here and make out," he joked.
"I'd accept your offer if it wasn't for the fact I'd rather not miss music." I chuckled and started walking.

We went to our usual place in the corner of the music room, getting the same insults thrown at us. I sat down next to him and pulled out my notebook. Someone in the class decided it would be funny to break a string on Pansy yesterday, so I was getting it fixed. In the meantime, me and Gerard have been writing a song. We named it "Sing". He leaned over to kiss my cheek when someone yelled a slur at us and I smiled slightly. He grabbed the notebook from my hands, asking, "Will you keep the beat, hun?" I nodded and tapped on the table with a pencil in place of a metronome.

"Sing it out
Boy, you got to see what tomorrow brings
Sing it out
Girl, you've got to be what tomorrow needs

For everytime that they want to count you out

Use your voice
Every single time you open up your mouth
Sing it for the boys, sing it for the girls
Everytime that you lose it sing it for the world

Sing it from the heart, sing it 'til you're nuts
Sing
it out for the ones that'll hate your guts
Sing it for the deaf, sing it for the blind
Sing about everyone that you left..."

I turned to him, confused, when he stopped singing. He was staring at the door in the front of the class. I turned my head to see Brendon, or whatever his name was. His hair was a mess and his bloodshot and puffy eyes told you he had been crying. I realized the entire class had shut up at this point and were staring at him as well. He handed a late slip to Florence while mumbling something and starting to walk over to an opposite corner of the room. "Brendon!" Gerard yelled, and he whipped around his head to our direction. He smiled weakly and started walking over to us. The class went back to its usual volume as he sat with us.
"Gerard, funny seeing you here."
Gee raised his eyebrow jokingly. "I go here."
Brendon chuckled. "I know that now." He turned to me. "Frank, right?"
I nodded and shook his hand. "Yeah, Gerard's boyfriend." I leaned my head on Gee's shoulder. "You look like shit. No offence."
He ran a hand through his hair. "Yeah. I, uh... this is my first day here. My parents got pissed at me because they caught me and my boyfriend Ryan..." He looked around. ".. well, y'know." I nodded. "I went to Pencey Prep before, that private school a few miles away. To get me away from him." He sighed and bit his lip. "I don't wanna talk about it. H-How are you two?"
Gerard shrugged. "Pretty good. Dunno 'bout Frankie here." Brendon raised an eyebrow.
"I got beat up." His eyes widened. "I'm fine, though. I'll give you some advice if you're coming to the great Belleville High: don't talk about your boyfriend. Or the fact you're gay. Jack and his group of friends will be out for your head. Pretend you have a girlfriend, if you must." I turned to Gerard, but still directed my words to Brendon. "We're the worst possible friends you could have here. Guaranteed bullying."
Brendon stared at me for a second before nodding. "You're my only friends here, so I'm staying." I saw Gerard smile slightly at the word "friends", but didn't question it.

We neglected finishing up our song and talked to Brendon instead. I learned we actually had a lot in common with him. He didn't seem like the type to ditch classes, so I'd have to remember not to ask him about it. There's a certain aura the goody-two-shoes have, y'know? He asked about our relationship, and we told him everything. Other than the fact we're engaged, obviously. Florence sent us a few dirty looks for being loud. Eventually, the bell rang, and we had to pack up our stuff. "Hey," Brendon said when me and Gerard were about to leave. "me and my band have a gig tomorrow, I was wondering if you guys wanted to come...?"
"Of course," Gerard replied.
Brendon smiled. "Great! Uh, Patrick, I'm sure you know which one I mean, the chubby blonde one, should know where it is." He looked at his watch. "Shit, Ryan is probably waiting. Um, nice seeing you!" He hurried off down the hall to the main gates of the school.

I leaned against Gerard as we sat on the bench in front of the school, waiting for Mikey, our fingers intertwined. I felt like everything was coming together, for once in my life.
