The Hardest Part of This Is Leaving You

I awoke a few hours later grabbing my glasses and stuttering to the kitchen. I felt wonderful after sleeping and fixing things with Frank, and we'll Mikey. I had a pounding head and a dry throat, and was hoping to get Tylenol and water from the kitchen. to my utter amazement I found mom smiling and cooking.
"Are you okay sweetheart?" Mom mumbled turning to me. She smiled touching my forehead to check my temperature.. "The doctors said the chemo might make you sick vomiting, hair loss...." She rambled.
"I know mom" I cut her off "Do we have Tylenol?" She nodded at me worriedly pointing to a bottle atop the fridge.
"If you don't want to go to school tomorrow you don't have to" Mom said turning around to keep cooking whatever it was. I just shook my head signaling that no I didn't want to stay home. I grabbed the Tylenol from the fridge taking it with some water and sitting at the kitchen table trying to make idle chitchat with mom.

We ate dinner and I headed back towards my room. I sat around for a while thinking, writing, reading whatever I could do to occupy my mind and my time before an idea occurred to me. Nobody at school would know about the cancer, I'd been gone for roughly a week and I was certain that rumors would circulate about where I was. I fell into another deep slumber, I'd been so so tired lately and so listless so so tired.
