I Don't Love You...

One

“I’m telling you Angie, he’s a no good scumbag.” Mandy shook her head at her best friend Angelica.

Angelica just sighed, “I love him.”

“No you love the idea of him, not him.”

She rolled her eyes, “We have common interests.”

“Fine, but don’t come crawling back to me when he dumps you like all the rest of them.” Mandy snapped and stood up, walking out of the apartment she shared with Frank.

He was out with his friend Gerard and wouldn’t be back until later in the afternoon. Because of him, her friends were leaving her behind. They had heard about other breakups between him and other girls and didn’t want her to be the same.

“Shit.” She sighed and rested her head on the counter.

Mandy was her last friend besides Gerard’s girlfriend Lindsey. She sighed and walked over to the sink, putting her cup of tea in the empty sink.
The door opened and Frank walked in not too long after.

“Hey babe.” He burped.

Angelica made a face then kissed his cheek, “We’re going out to dinner tonight right?”

“Nah, you can just cook me something and we’ll get busy.” He winked then walked to the bathroom, to piss with the door open.

She sighed, “But you said last night that you’d take me out tonight.”

“Look babe, seriously I said that when I was drunk. Don’t listen to me when I’m drunk. I lie.”

Angelica glared his direction, “Do you remember what today is?”

Frank rolled his eyes and finished his business in the bathroom before walking out and wrapping his arms around her waist, “Of course I do.”

She smiled, “What’d you get me?”

“You’ll see later.” He whispered in her ear.

A smile found its way onto her face and she quickly wrapped her arms around him.

“What’d you get me?” She asked with a smile.

Frank paused before smirking, “you’ll find out later, but right now I have to go get my jacket. I left it at Gerard’s.”

“Can’t you get it later?” She asked with a small pout.

He sighed, “I can’t, Angel. I promise you that I’ll be back before dinner.”

Angelica looked at the clock, seeing that it was five o’clock. She sighed and nodded.

“See ya later, Angel.” He kissed her cheek then shrugged on his jacket.

She smiled, “Okay.”

“Ay, make me some stir-fry. Okay?” Frank hollered on his way out the door.

Angelica sighed and frowned to herself. She quickly made enough stir-fry for the two of them and set the table. The food was getting cold and the clock said it was seven o’clock.

An hour later the house phone went off. Angelica checked the caller ID to see it said Lyn.

“Hey, Lyn is Frank over there?” She asked as she answered the phone.

There was a pause on the other end, “Uh yeah, could you come get him?”

“Why? Is everything okay?”

“Yeah, yeah, everything is fine. He drank a little too much and passed out on the couch.” She laughed softly.

Angelica nodded, “Okay, I’ll be there in a few.”

“Okay, oh and by the way happy birthday.”

Angelica thanked Lindsey before getting off the phone and grabbing the keys to her old beat up Pontiac. She cursed to herself as she walked out of the building and into the parking garage. Her Misfits CD started blasting as she started the Pontiac up. Angelica backed out of the parking spot and drove off to Gerard and Lindsey’s house.

“Shit.” She growled when she saw Gerard trying to help Frank out to the car.

Frank’s eyes lit up when he spotted Angelica, “Angel! I love you baby, come here!”

Angel put the car in park then got out to open the door and help Gerard put Frank in the car.

“Thanks Gee, do you mind if I got talk to Lyn really fast?” She questioned.

Gerard smiled, “Yeah go ahead. I’ll stay with this retard.”

“Where’s Angel going?” Frank grumbled, reaching out for Angelica.

She just turned around and walked inside of the house where Lindsey was sitting at the kitchen table, drinking coffee. Her eyes lit up when she saw Angelica.

“Well hello to you birthday girl. How goes it?”

She sighed and sat down across from her, “Lyn, can I stay here for a while after I drop Frank off at the apartment?”

Her smile dropped, “Why? What’s going on?”

“I’m breaking up with Frank. He forgot my birthday. He treats me like absolute shit. I can’t take it anymore.” Her eyes started to water.

Lindsey sighed and nodded, quickly standing up to wrap her arms around the smaller girl, “Sure. You can stay here as long as you’d like.”

“Thanks Lyn. I’d better take him home, and then I’ll be back.” Angelica wiped her tears away.

Lindsey nodded and walked her to the door, “I’ll see you in a bit, and be safe.”

Angelica smiled at her friend before thanking Gerard and getting into the car. She started it up and Saturday Night by the Misfits, blared out of the stereo. Frank smiled and leaned over to kiss her cheek. He quickly began singing the song to her, causing tears to roll down her cheeks.

“Frank stop.” She snapped.

He continued singing again until she pulled back into her spot in the parking garage. Frank was heavy and it took a while for Angelica to drag him up to their apartment and into the bedroom. She almost collapsed onto the bed with him from how exhausted she was. Frank was starting to sober up and pulled on her arm.

“Come here, Angel.”

She shook her head no, “No Frank, I’m leaving.”

“Why?” He furrowed his eyebrows.

Angelica laughed bitterly, “Do you know what today is? It was my birthday and you forgot. You always forget and treat me like shit.”

“I love you.” Frank motioned for her to come to him.

She glared as she threw a duffle bag of clothes together, “Love isn’t just something you say Frank it has to mean something.”

He sat up, “it’s true babe, I love you.”

“Yeah? Well I don’t love you like I loved you yesterday.” She snapped before turning on her heel and walking out the front door and out of Frank’s life.
