Vampires Will Never Hurt You

Hallelujah Lock and Load

The yellow, orange and red flames twisted and twirled, dancing together in harmony as the little red sparks drifted into the sky like tiny red fire-flies. It was a beautiful autumn night to spend time with the five of my best friends- laughing, singing, drinking and celebrating the memory of Frank. The time we spent outside flew by as it was already ten to three in the morning. We had gotten so carried away with our conversations and songs, I guess we lost track of time. Everyone decided it was time for bed and I stood up and brought my chair over to the table then headed inside.

Grabbing my back pack from next to the front door, I threw the left strap over my shoulder and made my way towards the bathroom down the hallway on my right. I nudged the door shut behind me with my foot, placing my bag onto the toilet seat and taking out my pyjamas and placing them on the counter just to my left. After changing into my black and red plaid pants, I put my worn clothes into my bag and brought out my make up remover pads from the front pouch and placed them onto the counter.

I twirled around on my heel to begin removing my make up for the night. Grabbing one of the pads from the plastic wrapping, I pressed my hips against the bathroom counter as I leaned in closer to the mirror and began rubbing it on my closed eye lid, removing all eye make up. As I was finishing off my left eye, I felt a cool breath on the back of my neck. I gasped and straightened myself up, accidentally dropping the dirty make up remover pad into the sink. I studied the mirror, not seeing any other reflection besides my own. I slowly looked over my left shoulder only to find no one standing behind me. I slowly turned back to the mirror and picked up the pad from the sink and tossed in the green trash can on the floor next to counter on my right. Reaching back into the plastic wrapping, I grabbed a clean make up pad and began taking the make up off my other eye. There was another cool breath on the side of my neck. I pulled the pad away from my eye, my knees almost giving out beneath me as Frank's reflection was staring back at me. I dropped the pad and spun around only to find Frank just centimetres away, our noses practically touching.

He was still wearing his skeleton costume, but he no longer had the mask or pillow case in his hands. His eyes were still the same deep yellow and his skin was still that pale white. Without breaking eye contact with him, I slowly reached onto the counter behind me and grabbed my white tank top that still sat there and quickly covered my bare chest. His eyes still didn't leave my face as he remained silent, making the atmosphere in the bathroom more tense than it already was. He continued analysing every detail of my face, his lips turning into a soft smile.

"Get the fuck away from me!" I shouted, pushing him away from me. I managed to push him a couple of inches away, getting some room to breathe.
"Is that any way to treat your boyfriend on his birthday?" he grinned his cheesy grin.
"I DON'T KNOW WHO YOU ARE, BUT YOU'RE NOT MY BOYFRIEND!" I shouted again, pushing him into the wall and running out of the bathroom into the hallway.

I ran down the hallway into the guest room where I was going to be sleeping. I slammed the door behind me and threw myself against it, curling into a ball against the wall. My finger tips were tingling and cold. I hid my face in my hands when I heard a knock on my door.
