House of Wolves

Christmas in Hell: Part 1

About two weeks passed. Mikey kept his distance from me, making minimum arguments. My mom and I slowly built our relationship back up and me and Frank’s secret life continued to blossom. Everyday we spent more and more time together. After school we would go to Ethan’s, smoking and drinking and having a good time. On the weekends, Mikey would go to his girlfriend, Crystal’s house and my mom would work the graveyard shift, leaving my house empty, perfect for time alone with Frank. The friday before Christmas break started and the party that Bob was forcing us to go to, we decided that all four of us would go to Ethan’s after school. Frank had spent the night at my house the night before. He said he had an argument with his dad. I wanted to know what it was all about, but I knew he didn’t want to talk about it. My mom let us take the truck to school, she didn’t need it since she was working the night shift.
“You still think we should go to the party?” Frank asked me as I drove through the freshly laid snow, being cautious not to slip all over the place.
“Well, no, but we all did make a bet with Bob.” he chuckled.
“Ray made a bet with Bob. We are not a obligated.” I nodded.
“Yeah, well I guess. Then I suppose we’ll just have to go for the experience.”
“Quite the experience I’ll say,” he said, “Just, when we go, don’t leave my side. The reason why last time went so horrible was because we separated.” I laughed.
“HA, with that stupid Julianna there, I’m almost tempted to make out with you right in front of her.” He blushed.
“Well, I wouldn’t take the risk, she might want to join in on it!”
“OH GROSS!” We broke out laughing and didn’t stop until we were halfway inside the school already. We waved goodbye and went our separate ways. In art, I sat as far away from Julianna as possible. When she spotted me, she waved at me and smacked her gum around as usual. I just looked at her in disgust and kept to my business. For the whole class, I stared out the window and watched big flakes of snow fall on the ground. The day went faster than expected. In music, Ray and Frank let me help them write a song for their band and at lunch we still chose to sit outside, even though it was snowing. I thought I was going to freeze to death, but I didn’t really care. The end of the day came and we all piled into my truck, Bob and Ray sharing one seat, and Frank sitting in the middle, practically sitting on me. It was cramped and sweaty, but we made it work. I knew Frank was blushing the whole way, but there wasn’t much we could do about it. It took about twenty minutes to get to Ethan’s, due to the snow. When we got there, there was a few other students like us who had the same idea, but they obviously didn’t know Ethan like we did, which made me feel special.
“Well if it isn’t the Fantastic Four that I’ve been waiting to see in here together for ages!” he called out to us. Everybody turned to look at us as we snagged a table so we could all sit together. Ethan brought us a couple beers and a new pack of cigarettes to share.
“Well, there’s a party we’re gonna crash tomorrow, so we need some Ethan luck before we go, if you know what I mean.” Frank said and leaned back in his chair. Obviously only him and Ethan knew what he meant.
“Oh, don’t worry, I’ll hook you up. Remind me before you leave.” Ethan winked at Frank and patted him on the shoulder as he walked back to the bar counter.
“What’s this Ethan Luck you speak of Mr. Iero?” Bob leaned in, eager to know. I leaned in a little too, curious to what it could possibly be.
“Don’t worry. You’ll know soon enough.” Frank grinned, leaving the three of us suspicious. Especially me. I was here all the time, yet I didn’t know of this secret thing.
“Well, I think we should cheers, and best of luck to us tomorrow, let’s make it a goal to not die!” Ray suggested. We all raised our glasses and clinked them.
“Let the Christmas shenanigans begin!” Bob yelled. The whole bar went silent and stared at us. Then Ethan let out a whoop and everybody carried on with their business. We sat around, smoking cigarettes and drinking probably too much alcohol.
“Ah, well I need to get on home before my parents ask me where’ve I been.” Bob said.
“Yeah, me too. Don’t want to get wasted before I get wasted.” Ray added. To me, Ray didn’t seem like the type that would get hammered at a dumb party. Really none of my friends seemed like that (because they weren’t, it was Bob), but whatever. Frank and I said our goodbyes and hung back and stayed for about another hour.
“So, are you gonna go home tonight?” I asked him.
“I should,” he shrugged, “I don’t really want to though.”
“Then stay with me. I don’t mind.” I grabbed his hand.
“Are you sure? Your mom won’t mind?” he asked.
“Of course I’m sure,” I leaned in closer so no one could hear me except him, “she working the night shift tonight, so we’re all alone.” he looked down at me.
“Oh, well then in that case.” he smiled and I blushed a little. He waved down Ethan and Ethan gestured to follow us outside. He must be giving us his ‘luck’. It had stopped snowing when we went outside.
“This took forever to get my hands on man, but they’re so cool!” Ethan seemed excited.
“How much will I owe you?” Frank asked. This almost kind of worried me.
“Nah, you don’t owe me anything.” Ethan shrugged Frank’s offer off.
“Ethan, come on, at least let me give you some!” Ethan didn’t listen. He handed Frank a brown paper bag that looked heavy. I was so confused.
“Thanks man, your the best!” Frank hugged Ethan.
“Anything for my bro. Use them wisely.”
“Will do.” Frank saluted off Ethan and we started to walk away.
“Oh, and one more thing,” Ethan yelled out at us as we approached the truck, “USE PROTECTION!”
“Of fuck you Ethan!” Frank joked and flipped him off.
“I would love to fuck myself, haven’t you seen how hot I am!” he countered. We all laughed. I started the truck and started the heat. Before we left, I decided to ask what he had.
“So what’s this Ethan’s luck that we got?” I raised my eyebrows, expecting it to be a pound of LSD or something.
“Oh this, they’re colored smoke bombs. You know, the ones that when you light, they release a giant cloud of color,” he said nonchalantly. I felt myself instantly relax, knowing that they weren’t drugs, “What did you think it was?”
“To be honest, I thought it was a pound of LSD.” I just felt stupid now. I knew that the worst Frank does is smoking pot with Ethan here and there, which here and there was actually more often than I thought.
“Pfht, what would we do with a pound of LSD? Does the term ‘Pound of LSD’ even work?” We both laughed.
“You know, I don’t think it does.” We approached my driveway and parked in the garage. I didn’t expect anyone to be home, but the light’s in the kitchen were on. I told Frank to go downstairs and wait till I came down. I took my coat and shoes off and went into the kitchen. To my surprise, MIkey was sitting at the table, eating something that looked a little burnt and smelt horrid.
“What are you doing here?” he asked as he saw me walk in.
“I would ask you the same thing?” I argued. He rolled his eyes.
“Well, I won’t be here much longer, after I finish this I’m going to Crystal’s. Mom already went to work. Too bad she had to walk in the snow since she didn’t have the truck.” He was looking for something to argue about.
“Oh will you shut it, she let me take the truck today. She said she didn’t mind walking. But since you’re too stupid to take into consideration that me and mom had a conversation about this this morning.” He stood up, trying to argue with me, but I raised my hands up, basically surrendering.
“No, Mikey we are not going to do this, I’m sorry, just leave and go to Crystals.” he threw his napkin on the table like a child and marched out of the house in a snap. “That was easier than expected.” I thought to myself and I went downstairs. I found that Frank wasn’t down there when I turned the corner. I went to turn on my music thinking he was in the bathroom or something. I felt something grab me and it startled me.” I turned around and it was Frank, with a huge grin on his face.”
“Jesus Christ Frank! You scared me half to death!” I yelled.
“Good, that was my intention.” he said and pulled me closer to him by his neck.
“I don’t think that’s a very good intention.” I said.
“Yeah, well maybe this one is.” he pulled my face in and kissed me intensely. I pulled away and thought for a moment.
“Yep, that was a pretty good intention.” I agreed and I let him pull me back in. I pushed him against the wall and leaned my hips into his. His hands found the hem of my shirt and pulled it off. I did the same in a fast, swift motion. He pushed me to the bed and gripped my hair, while I unbuttoned his pants. He slid them off and I threw him on the bottom. I nibbled at his neck as I took my own pants off. I moved back to his lips and pressed mine against them. My hands moved down his torso and found the top of his boxers. I slid my hands under the sides of them and slowly pulled them away. He used his feet to pull mine away and I kicked them off to the ground. I kissed his neck and collarbone, admiring the tattoos that I could see. He flipped me over and looked straight into me.
“You are quite stunning tonight.” I whispered. He leaned in and kissed me softer, helping me find my way. He moved at a slow pace, digging his nails into my chest, letting out a small moan. I gazed up on all the tattoos on his body as I gripped his thighs. He began to move faster, breathing hard. I got a weird tingle and groaned, gripping his thighs even harder. I opened my eyes. Frank was smiling down on me and leaned down and pressed his lips against mine, tongues entangling. Frank kept moving faster and faster, breathing harder and harder, letting out an occasional moan. I couldn’t help it anymore and Frank slowed his pace, than flopped next to me panting like a dog, pulling one of the blankets over us.
“It just keeps getting better, doesn’t it?” he said under his heaving breaths. I wiped my forehead.
“Well, is it a bad thing?” I turned my head to the side, smiling.
“Not at all.” he turned and laid half his body on my chest. I wrapped my arm around him and put the other over my head. Frank reached over to the nightstand and grabbed his cigarettes and lit one. He lit me one as well, and we laid in bed, smoking in silence for awhile.
“Well,” he said grabbing the ashtray and putting our cigarettes out, “Goodnight Gee. I love you.” he closed his eyes. I turned out the light and got comfortable.
“I love you too Frankie.” I brought him close to me and I fell asleep.

Frank and I slept in till around 11 in the morning. The snow filled halfway up my basement window.
“We should shower.” I whispered as I looked down at Frank rub his sleepy eyes.
“Do you wanna shower with me?” he asked nonchalantly. I blushed.
“With you, well I guess if you want me too.” he nodded so I sat up and grabbed his hand. I practically had to carry him to my bathroom. I turned the shower on and Frank climbed in. I followed him in. He splashed water in his face and he instantly gained energy. All of his arms were covered in his tattoos, along with his chest and back, and part of his leg. I looked down at my tattoo, feeling a small amount of pride in it. He washed his hair and I scrubbed myself down. We traded spots and rinsed. I felt his arms wrap around me. Blowing the water out of my face, I leaned in and kissed his nose.
After we showered, we got dressed in, what Frank calls, our ‘Party Attire’. Really it just consisted of what we wear everyday, which made no sense to me at all, but whatever. Frank finished getting ready while I went upstairs and made breakfast for us. My mom was home, but she was asleep in her room. Frank came up and scarfed down most of the food I made. I wasn’t really all that hungry for some reason.
“Bob said we should go to his house when we’re ready.” he said, finishing off his last bite.
“Sounds good, are we ready?” He shrugged.
“Ready when you are.” He brought his plate to the sink and rinsed it off. I went to my mom’s room and went in slowly. She was sprawled on her bed in her work clothes still.
“Hey mom? You awake?” I whispered as I tapped her shoulder. She flipped around and opened one eye yawning.
“Well, I am now,” she replied, “What do you need?”
“I am going to hang out with friends. I probably won’t be back until later tonight.”
“What time will you be back?” she asked, trying to open her other eye.
“Maybe around 1 or 2 in the morning. Something like that.” I tried to make it sound like I wasn’t going to a huge party, but I knew she was on to me.
“So you’re going to a party?”
“It’s just a small get together with Ray and Bob and Frank, nothing huge.” I was lying to my mom. To my knowledge this party was huge. SHe seemed lost in her thoughts, trying to make a decision half asleep.
“Fine, you can go,” she laid her head back down on her pillow, “But Gerard, please be safe. I trust Frank, but that’s only because I know him. I’ve never met the other two and-”
“It will be fine mom.” I said. I hugged her and said goodbye. I put my shoes and coat on and met up with Frank, who was already outside in the snow, having a cigarette.
“Having one without me?” I joked. He smiled and handed me a cigarette and a lighter. I took his hand and he led the way to Bob’s house through the snow. It felt like he lived on a whole other side of town. It took us forever to get there. WHen we got on his block I had to let go of his hand and get a little space between us. Bob lived in a pretty big two story house. It was nice. It was a house that looked like it was cut right out from a suburban housing magazine. We went up to the porch and Frank knocked on the door. An older woman answered the door.
“Good morning Mrs. Bryar.” Frank said under a shiver. She opened the screen door and invited us in.
“Hello Frank. How are you?” she asked.
“I’m good, thanks.” We brushed the snow off of ourselves and got out of our snow gear.
“I don’t think I’ve met you before?” she gestured towards me.
“Oh, Mrs. Bryar, this is Gerard. He moved here to Ashland not to long ago.” I shook her hand.
“Nice to meet you.” I said and she nodded and smiled.
“Well Ray and Bobbie are upstairs. You know where to find them.” She disappeared into a hallway off the side.
“Bobbie?” I snickered. Frank laughed as he led the way upstairs.
“Oh yeah. That’s what his parents call him. He hates it.” I laughed too. Frank opened the door and a haze of smoke flew into our faces.
“Blazin’ already Bobbie?” Frank said, fanning smoke out of his face.
“Got to get into the party mode somehow. And what did I say about Bobbie?!” he said as if it were a perfectly normal thing to do.
“This is probably his third bowl.” Ray said. He was sitting by the window fanning out the smoke. I wouldn’t stop him, it reeked.
“Do your parents know what you’re up too?” Frank asked, sitting on a beanbag. Bob’s room was a pigsty. Clothes laid on every inch of the floor. HIs bed looked like a hurricane had gone through it and there were more posters on the wall than actual wall. He was living to the true American teenage standard.
“How should I know?” Bob said.
“Oh yeah they know,” Ray looked annoyed, “And of course I was the one who had to babysit his ass.”
“You can have some too. Come on it’s not bad.” he insisted.
“I think you’ve had enough for today. I don’t want to take care of you tonight.” Frank said taking the pot away from Bob.
“Hey, you can only take it away from me if you take a hit.” Bob crossed his arms like a child and pouted. Frank looked like he didn’t want to argue with a drugged child, so he took his lighter and inhaled a small amount. Then he gave it to Ray who put it out and stashed it somewhere in a box.
“You know Bob, I don’t mind high people, I’m one myself, but you sir, are just annoying.” Frank said sitting back in the beanbag.
“Well, you’ll thank me after the party. While you have your ‘Ethans Luck’, I have my own surprise.” We all exchanged a look.
“Hey, we said no trouble.” Ray pointed his finger at Bob.
“Don’t worry, it will be fine.” Bob shrugged. We decided to ignore him for awhile while he was in his own little world.
“Speaking of Luck, what’d Ethan hook you up with?” Ray leaned in close to Frank, trying to pry his secret that wasn’t as exciting and/or dangerous as I thought it was going to be.
“Colored Smoke Bombs.” he said bluntly. Ray grinned.
“YES THOSE ARE MY FAVORITE!” Ray yelled, “How many did you get?”
“I have two. Which is perfect, considering that I don’t trust one with little Bobbie over here anyway.” We all looked over at Bob who was staring at the ceiling. We all agreed in our heads. We talked a little more about the smoke bombs and then we turned on Bob’s T.V and watched some random shows. Bob’s mom brought up little suburban sandwiches for us for lunch at around four. We ate them, giving most of them to Bob. We watched some more T.V until around eight PM. Bob’s high had subdued and he no longer knew what his surprise for us was.
“Bob, you’re not driving.” Ray insisted. We piled in and Ray decided he would be the designated driver for the night. Bob didn’t like the idea but he got in the car and dealt with it anyway. He drove up through the mountains for about fifteen minutes. With the snowy roads, I could understand why Ray didn’t want Bob to drive. I thought we were getting lost when we pulled up to a huge mansion looking over Ashland. We drove behind the many cars and went through a huge roundabout that went around a fountain. The Valet (what kind of party was this?!) took the keys from Ray and drove off, taking his name down on a piece of paper. We walked up the huge stairs to the front door. On the steps, intoxicated kids were making out and smoking things that I didn’t even want to know. At the door, two tall guys who looked like college students stood at the doorways.
“Invitation?” The one on the left asked. I couldn’t believe my eyes. This was so cheesy, literally coming out the movies. Bob scrambled in his pockets and pulled out a crumpled piece of paper. The one on the right uncrumpled it and examined it.
“Delaney invited you guys?” He looked at his companion on the other side and exchanged disgusted looks, which made me a little angry.
“She’s my cousin, thank you very much.” Bob snatched the paper out of his hands and shoved it in his pockets. Frank lit a cigarette. The guys shrugged and let us through. As Frank passed them he blew smoke in their faces and flipped them off. Their face twisted in anger, but we just kept walking, making laugh inside. Bob opened the door and a blast of loud rap music with the smell of alcohol and cigarettes went straight into my face.
“Welcome, to the Ridges Estate. Gerard is no longer a party virgin at this very moment.” Bob took a bow. We all stood in silence.
“Well, Frank if you want to show Gerard the basis of what’s to go down tonight, I’ll take little Bobbie somewhere where he can occupy himself.” Ray offered.
“Are you sure?” Frank asked. Ray nodded and took Bob through the mass of at least 200 people dancing and drinking. Once they completely disappeared, Frank grabbed my wrist and pulled me to the side and into a room filled with kids making out and drinking. We went up a flight of stairs and soon we were at the overlook of the mass of people we were just in front of.
“Alright,” Frank started, “First things first. Try not to get separated from me. Don’t go anywhere with anyone. Don’t accept any drink that was opened or any drink in a cup. Don’t smoke anything that isn’t yours and don’t eat anything. If we get separated, don’t talk to anyone. Go to the back of the house and outside. Go around the pool and to the bonfire area and wait til we meet up again.” He took in a deep breath.
“It’s as if you’ve done this before,” I smiled, “Anything else?” he smiled.
“Yes, the number one rule is do not have sex with anyone who you don’t know or is intoxicated. But I don’t think I have to worry about that.” At that moment I wanted to kiss him, and I knew he wanted to do the same, but our promise held us back.
“Well, what do we do now?” I asked trying to break the tension.
“We drink.” he said. He led me down a completely different staircase and to a fancy looking bar with the lights dimmed. We squeezed in got a couple beers. We made sure they weren’t open and we found a not so crowded place to sit. We sat for about two hours and drank, trying to talk over the annoying rap.
“I gotta pee.” Frank said and got up.
“Should I come with.” he thought about it for a moment.
“No, just stay here, the bathroom is around the corner, it shouldn’t be long. Plus it’s not like a school bathroom.” I knew he was thinking that if I went in, people would get suspicious. I didn’t think it was a great idea, but I let him go anyway. I watched him wiggle his way through the people and disappear. I sat for a few minutes by myself, watching people stare at me. I heard a squeal on my right and I turned to see Julianna right in my face.
“I didn’t know you were gonna come to my party?” Julianna slurred. She was extremely drunk. I just looked at her and showed her no interest.
“Someone looks like he isn’t having a good time, maybe I can fix that.” Oh god she was disgusting. Why was this even happening.
“Go away.” I said bluntly. I tried not to make eye contact. Maybe if it noticed my lack of acknowledgement, it would go away. But I was wrong. She took my arm and basically ripped it out of the socket.
“No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Julianna, let go of me!” she wouldn’t let go of me.
“Oh but why not baby?” she said in an annoying voice.
“I’m not your baby.” I reached for a drink by the table near me and splashed it in her face. She released my arm and screamed. I turned around dashed through the people, running down hallways and going up various stairs. When I knew no one would notice me I stopped and took a breath. I needed a glass of water, but where the hell was I? I walked down a hallway, mostly empty for the most part. Most of the doors were locked as I tried to open them. At the end of the hall, finally a door was unlocked. I walked in slowly. It was dark so I tried to find a lamp. I turned a switch and there he was. Mikey. On top of a girl. I felt a boiling rage in me.
“WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING MIKEY!?” I yelled. The girl was pale and Mikey looked horrified.
“What are you doing here!?” he yelled back. I looked on the floor and grabbed his clothes and threw them at his face.
“Put your clothes back on and go home, RIGHT NOW.” I demanded. I don’t understand why I was so angry, after all, Frank and I do the same thing.
“You can’t make me. You’re not mom and you’re not dad. SO GET OUT.”
“Fine,” I said, “I walked over to him and snatched his clothes, “Good luck getting out of here then.” I ran out the room as my brother screamed after me. After I went down a couple stairs and hallways. I asked someone who looked slightly normal how to get to the back. They were rude, but they pointed me in the right direction. It took awhile getting around the pool, it was filled with screaming kids. I finally found the fountain and I eagerly looked around for Frank.
“What the fuck happened to you!?” I heard from behind me. I turned around and saw Frank. I ran up to him, about to embrace him in a kiss, but I had to stop myself.
“Can we go to your place?” I asked, completely ignoring his question.
“Well.. Gee my da-”
“Please.” I interrupted. He nodded and waved someone down. It was Ray and Bob.
“Bob, do you wanna stay here?” he asked.
“Hell yeah I do.” Ray and Frank exchanged looks.
“Bob, here’s two smoke bombs. Have fun with em’.” Frank handed him the paper bag. I couldn’t believe he was just giving them away.
“YOU ARE THE BEST! I’M GONNA LIGHT ONE RIGHT NOW!” Bob looked like an excited kid. Frank smiled and we all started are way towards the front of the house, going as fast as we could away from Bob. Before we walked in, we heard a little explosion, and we didn’t dare look back.

Ray drove Frank and I to his house. I still had my brother’s clothes. They smelt horrible.
“So, tell me what happened to you.” Frank insisted.
“Well Julianna somehow found me. She grabbed me so I threw a drink in her face and ran. I got lost and needed some water so I went into a bedroom and found my brother fucking his dumb girlfriend. So I took his clothes and ran off to the back.” I basically word vomited all over Frank and Ray.
“Oh, well at least he’s stuck there for the night.” Ray joked around.
“Yeah, well his clothes sure do stink.” We laughed. I felt a little better but I could still feel a little anger inside me. We pulled up to Frank’s house. We got out of the car.
“Wait here for a sec.” Frank whispered. He walked into his house and was gone for a minute. He stepped back outside and waved for me to come in. I told Ray he could leave and I walked up into the house. His house wasn’t clean anymore. It smelt of booze and ash, and their were dirty dishes everywhere. He didn’t turn on any lights. He led me through the dark to his room. He unlocked it and let me in, closing the door behind us.
“I can go home if you want me too.” I said. I could tell Frank was a little uncomfortable.
“It’s alright, we just need to keep it down.” he put his hands on my shoulders.
“Well, okay, I guess I will try to keep down, but I don’t know.” I was just playing around. I leaned in close and kissed his neck and collarbone.
“I’m serious though so-”
“Oh don’t worry. Relax. You’re okay.” I said. He took deep breath.
“Thank you.” He said and smiled. I kissed him and tugged him by the waist. Hus finger were lost in my hair and we were slowly making our way towards his bed. We started to undress each other. I laid over him and started to undo his pants. I wasn’t sure how we were going to manage to keep quiet anymore. Frank giggled as I threw his pants across the room. I stared at him with a smile.
“Mr. Frank Iero, what am I going to do with you?” I whispered loudly. He giggled again and brought my head down. I got lost in his kiss. It was so powerful. It was warm and calm, but fierce and dangerous, but I loved it.
“Frank?” I heard a deep, dark voice from the side. Frank was drained of color and his eyes shot to the door. He looked so frightened.
“What the hell is this?” The voice came from a tall man, with beady eyes and a cold stare.
“Dad, please, no, this is not what it looks like.” Frank mumbled. I don’t think his dad heard. I pushed myself off of him and he sat up. Franks dad inched toward the bed and looked down at Frank. I could see Frank’s whole body shaking and a tear roll down his face. Then out of nowhere, Franks dad yanked both of our arms and started pulling us down the stairs.
“Frank?” I tried whispering, but at this point, Frank didn’t even acknowledge I was there.
“Dad, please stop. Dad. Let him go!” Frank struggled to get free of his dad’s surprisingly strong grip. He led down to the basement. I shivered. What the hell was going on. He threw Frank against the cement wall, leaving him coughing on the ground. He took me and a dirty piece of fabric and tied me to a water pipe. He forced me to sit down in an awkward position. He went back to Frank who was struggling to get up and threw him closer to me.
“So, now I have a fag for a son. I should’ve known,” he said in a soft voice, but increased his volume, “I should’ve known!” Frank whimpered.
“Dad, please.” Frank looked up at him, I felt so helpless. His dad grinned. It was so sinister.
“Frank, you need to be taught that fags don’t last long in this world.” His dad took his belt and wrapped it around his hand. Frank started shaking his head, saying no, but his dad flung his leg into Franks abdomen. Frank launched forward, making a horrible noise.
“Your a disgrace for a son!” he slashed Frank’s back with his belt and he flinched.”
“No one loves you! You are a pathetic coward!” he slashed him again, Frank didn’t even flinch this time.
“You are a worthless fuck and no one will ever love you. Not even your stupid whore of a mother! Do you understand!” he slashed him again. Frank didn’t even move. I started to cry, but I had to muffle the noise, unsure of what he would do to me. His dad grabbed Frank by the hair and pulled him back.
“I said, DO YOU UNDERSTAND!” Frank just stared at the ceiling, tears falling on his cheeks. There was no life in his eyes. They were as vacant as an old motel room.
“Fine,” his dad said in a quieter tone, “have it your way.” he released Franks hair and took a step back. I thought it was over, but I was horribly mistaken. Franks dad punched him right in the face, forcing him down to the ground. Before Frank could move, his dad started kicking him in the back and stomach. Frank whimpered every time. He threw Frank up against the wall.
“Come on. Show you Pop what a real man you are.” he intimidated. He started punching him everywhere, and Frank just stood there, letting him. I couldn’t help it.
“YOU’RE KILLING HIM!” I screamed over my tears. He turned to me.
“Shut up you dirty fuck!” he came toward me and slapped me straight in the face. I shut up and he went back to Frank. A rush of Adrenaline kicked in and I ripped the fabric that tied me to the pole. I looked around the room and found what looked like an old metal bed frame. I crept over behind him. I could see Frank’s bloody face. His dad lifted his hand for another hit but I swung the pole and struck his father in the head. He fell unconscious to the door. Frank slid down the wall, leaving a trail of blood from his head.
“Frank!” I yelled. I grabbed his cheeks with my hands, forcing him to look at me. “Frank, Stay with me! Don’t look away! Frank!” I couldn’t help but scream and cry. The Frank I was looking at wasn’t Frank. It was just an empty vessel waiting to be forgotten. I dashed up the stairs, my face throbbing. I looked for a phone and saw the one in the kitchen. I grabbed it and dialed 911.
“911 what’s your emergency?” the operator said.
“I need help! My friend and his dad are unconscious! They were in a fight and.. and... Please someone he’s dying!” I couldn’t control myself. Words were spinning and thoughts were racing.
“Stay calm sir, help is on the way. Please don’t hang up-” I started to cry again. I hung up and ran back downstairs. Frank lay still on the ground, his father limp next to him. I knelt in front of him and brought him close to my chest. I rocked him in my arms like a sick child. His face and his back were extremely bloody and his body was bruised. I felt so lost. I could feel myself losing him and it was all my fault.
“Please don’t leave me Frank, please don’t leave!”
