In The Mourning

Part Thirty-One

When I woke up this morning, my body felt sore but I couldn't find Frank anywhere in the room. Assuming he was either showering and playing guitar in the studio room. I was (still) naked under the blanket and my clothes from last night was not there. I guess Frank must have put it in the laundry. I was recalling back about what happened last night when Frank barged into the room. He was carrying a vacuum cleaner and basket filled with washed clothes.

"Babe, did you decide to become a maid?", I asked.

Frank faked a laugh and said, "Mother dearest is coming."

I was shocked and I quickly asked him to grab me some clothes. He threw his shorts and t-shirt on the bed. After putting it on, I went to the kitchen to find Frank. He was vacuuming the whole house and I was sure that he didn't know what he was doing.

"Need help, sweetheart?", I sheepishly said when I saw him struggling to fold the clothes.

"I just need you to know that my mother is a sweetheart but when it comes to my house, she can be a pain in the ass. Do you think the house smell like cigarettes?", he nervously asked.

"You do know this is my first time meeting her, right Frank?"

Frank slapped his forehead and said, "Oh my god, yes. Don't worry about her, she's the loveliest person you will ever meet. She just called me this morning and was wondering if you're free to see her"

"Oh great, yeah sure. I can go back and change my clothes first and then I'll come back, alright? When is she coming?"

Right after I finished my sentence, I heard the doorbell rings.

"Right about now."

My jaw slightly dropped before I rushed to the bathroom for a quick shower. This would be my first time meeting his mother. I know that his parents split up when he was really young but I also know that he is really close to his mother.

After fifteen minutes, I headed to the living room to meet his mum. She had the same hair color as Frank's and she was petite too. A lot shorter than me.

"Hello Mrs Iero, it's so nice to finally meet you. I've been hearing so much about you", I said as I shook her hands.

Mrs. Iero pulled her hands and said, "Aww, I am not a hand-shaker, more of a hugger. Now give me some sugar"

She pulled me into a hug before saying, "Call me, Marie. I don't go by Mrs. Iero anymore"

"Aww, my two favorite girls are bonding.", Frank said from the kitchen.

"Not sure what Frank did to actually deserve such an amazing person in his life", his mum jokingly said. Frank rolled his eyes and pulled his mum into a tight hug.

"Did you just clean your house, Frank?", Marie asked.

"No", Frank lied.

"Yes, Marie. He just cleaned it up", I laughed.

"Are the two of you living together now?", Marie suddenly asked.

"Yes" "No", Frank and I said respectively at the same time.

"It's okay, Blair! As long as you're keeping him happy, I am fine with anything"

I spent the whole afternoon cooking lunch with Marie. She taught me how to cook Italian food from scratch. Marie was a lovely woman to talk to. She had this warm tone that could make anyone feels happy to be around her. I was cooking lunch when my mother called me.

"Hey mummy"

"Blair, are you coming home tonight?"

"Frank's mother is here.. I don't think so."

"Oh is it your first time meeting his mother?"

"Yes, mummy. She just arrived this morning"

"Why don't you invite her for a family dinner. Your dad just got back from Paris."

"That sounds great, I will be home by late evening yeah?"

Marie didn't even think twice before saying yes. She was such a bubbly lovely woman. I figured the dinner will finish late, so I asked Frank to bring her mother's luggage. Just in case if she gets too tired, she can just spend the night at my house.

Frank's POV

I was worried about having dinner at Blair's because knowing her mother, I was afraid that they wouldn't get along. When we arrived at Blair's, her parents greeted us. Her mother was a bit more friendlier than usual. Well, maybe she didn't like me with my tattoos and all (at first). When Blair was helping Beatrice setting up her kitchen, I helped my mother get comfortable in the guest room.

"What does her parents do?", mom asked.

"Law firm and fashion...", I replied.

"She doesn't look like she's from this side of the world"

"That's what I love about her.. She comes from a wealthy family but she never flaunts anything and she's clever too", I added.

"You really love her, don't you Frank", mom asked.

I nodded, "I am planning to propose her soon, mom"
