Frank’s words made me think. He was right about me. I was a closed book and I don’t blame him if he ended up giving up on me. He came into my life at the moment I needed some saving. He came into my life at the right time.

Rebecca looked tired today and she slept longer than usual.

“Do you mind if we go to the clinic?”, I asked her.

Rebecca rubbed her eyes and looked at me, “Yes please but I feel so tired”

“I will ask Beatrice to help you go change, alright? I am going to get mummy and daddy”, I told her.

I rushed to the study room where mummy and daddy usually do their works. Mummy was picking materials for her new line while daddy was going through some papers. I knocked the door few times before entering.

“Yes, Blair?”, mummy asked.

“Rebecca is not doing so good.. She has patches on her back and she’s beginning to feel tired. We need to bring her to Dr. Walters”, I told mummy.

“Nonsense, Blair. I’ll call him in. Tell Rebecca I will be up in a minute”, daddy replied.

Mummy quickly put her glasses on the table and followed me into Rebecca’s room but when we got into her room, she wasn’t there. I figured Beatrice was helping her with getting ready.

After five minutes, Beatrice entered Rebecca’s room.

“Miss Blair, is Rebecca ready?”, she asked me.

Her question made my heart drops. I thought she was with her.

“I thought she was with you, Beatrice?!”, I panicked.

Mummy looked at me and rushed to the toilet. She tried jiggling the door knob but it was a futile attempt. Mummy and I started knocking on her bathroom doors, asking her to open up the door.

“DADDY!”, I shouted few times.

After few calls, daddy entered the room.

“Please knock the door down, Rebecca is in there. Beatrice, call the ambulance now”, mummy said.

After knocking the door down, there she was.. lying on the floor looking as pale as a ghost. I started crying, so did mummy. I laid her head on my lap and repeatedly called her name. She can’t be gone. Not now. I put my head on her chest, to check if there was a heartbeat. There was but it was slow. Slow enough to consume her.

“Where is the ambulance?”, I cried.

“Baby, you are going to be alright. Don’t give up right now”, I repeatedly said this. I didn’t care if she was listening or not.

After ten minutes, the ambulance came. They put Rebecca on a stretcher and went straight to the hospital. I went to the hospital with mummy and daddy. The car ride was quiet and I could feel like sorrow was hugging me, refusing to let go.

I needed Frank.

When we arrived at the hospital, I told Frank where I was and he came half an hour after that with the rest of the boys.

As soon as Frank hugged me, I broke down again.

“Baby, baby. It will be alright. The doctors are in there to make her better”, Frank cooed me.

“She will be alright, Blair”, Mikey smiled.

It took Frank a good ten minutes to calm me down and by the time I did, the doctor came out from the ER. His face wasn’t happy and he wasn’t sad either.

Before saying anything, he bit his lower lip.

“I am afraid to tell you that Rebecca is not doing so well.. Her platelets are depleting more than we expected and her body is easily exposed to disease”, the doctor said.

Mummy rubbed her forehead while holding daddy’s hand. Daddy loved to smile but he wasn’t smiling today.

“How is she doing now?”, I asked.

“Stable but weak. You can go see her if you want”, he told me.

Mummy and daddy were about to enter the room before realizing the five boys were there.

Frank’s face froze. It was the first time he met mummy and both of us didn’t know what to expect. I expected mummy to ignore him completely but she did the opposite.

“Tell your friends to come in too. She’s going to love that”, Mummy said.

When we entered the room, Rebecca had two tubes up her nose. I reckoned it was the food liquid to feed her skinny body.

“Hey mummy, daddy, Rebecca, Frank, Gerard, Ray, Bob and Mikey”, Rebecca smiled.

“Hey baby, you got us worried just now”, mummy replied.

All of us said hi back to her and then, Gerard gave her a bouquet of lilies while Mikey gave balloons with ‘Get Well Soon’ written on it.

Mummy and daddy left the room ten minutes after that to talk to the doctor, leaving me and the boys.
“Are you guys leaving tomorrow?”, Rebecca asked.

“Yes, Rebecca but we will be coming back in a week to play a show in Brooklyn. You are coming, right?”, Mikey asked.

Rebecca flashed her million dollar grin and nodded. She didn’t have much energy to reply.

“Can I cry because you guys are here, visiting me at the hospital?”, Rebecca said.

“Of course, Rebecca. I know you know about my reputation of hating being on camera but for you, let’s take pictures now!”, Bob excitedly said to her.

Rebecca smiled even more and the boys started gathering at her bed. Each picture, they made different poses and Rebecca joined them. After taking few pictures, Rebecca felt nauseous. She started throwing up again and her gum was bleeding.

After wiping her face, she said, “I am sorry you guys have to see me like this. If I had the choice, it would be at home”

Gerard sat on Rebecca’s left side of her bed and gave her a frame with a disc on it.

“We got this when Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge went platinum in the States”, Gerard said.

Rebecca placed her fingers on the frame and it had words on it that I couldn’t read from my view. Frank pulled me closer to him and kissed the back of my head.

“Thank you. I got something for all of you”, Rebecca said while pulling a book out of her drawer.

“What is it, Becca?”, I asked.

She carefully opened the book and it had 4 envelopes in it; Mummy & Daddy, Blair, Frank, My Friends.

“I want you guys to read it after I am gone.”, Rebecca said slowly.
