Franks POV:

I heard footsteps approaching me and I was picked up and held in someone’s arms as they rocked me back and forth. I looked up to see Gerard’s face above me, his hair was longer and tangled and his skin was as pale as parchment. I stopped breathing and my brain went on meltdown mode as I tried to process the image above me. I screamed and fell backwards, crawling away from him. From it. Closing my eyes, I chanted ‘this isn’t real’ ‘this isn’t real’ ‘this isn’t real’ in my head like a mantra, a plea that my sanity would return to me.
“Fuck frank, you’ve actually gone mad now” I whispered to myself. Arms wrapped around my shoulders and I opened my eyes to see Gerard squatting next to me, his arms wrapped around me tightly. I started hitting his chest, half surprised that my fist didn’t go straight through him, as I tried to escape from his grasp. He grabbed my hands with his and hushed me as I wriggled and squirmed in his grip.

“Shush Frankie, calm down. It’s me. It’s Gerard. I'm okay. I promise.”
My body grew completely limp and boneless as I fell into his chest and sobbed. “why?” I choked “why did you leave me? How are you here?” He ran his fingers through my hair as he looked me in the eyes and proceeded to tell me what happened

“I had this whole thing planned out with Mikey and Ray, someone was threating me and you Frankie. They told me that I could kill myself or they would hunt me down and kill me slowly and worse before they did that they would torture you. I had this all planned for weeks; after you found me Mikey came and cut me down. My funeral was a closed casket funeral as we were burying an empty coffin, there was no body in it.”

“Why didn’t you tell me?” I sobbed “Why couldn’t I know?”
“At first I was worried that they would still target you if they even thought it was a trick and then I was scared. I was scared that you would hate me Franks”

“Is it true?” I murmured “What you said in your letter, is it true?” My world seemed to slow down as I waited for his answer

“Every word”

I smiled for the first time in a month as I looked up into the face of my now returned love and my eyes fluttered shut as we leaned in towards each other.
