My Teenage Romance
The Beginning
I was standing in the middle of the crowd, barely able to make out what the lead singer yelled. The next thing I know I’m up on the stage singing my favorite song with my favorite band. After the song was over the lead singer leaned over and said “Brrrriiiing!”
I was jerked from my dream by my alarm clock. My first day at another new school. I got up chose a pair of black jeans, and a Radiohead tee. I don’t really care if people stare at my shirt anymore. I toss on my combat boots after putting in my piercings and on my makeup, and go downstairs. My parents are already sitting at the table eating breakfast. I grab a bowl and a cup, and pour myself some breakfast.
“Luna, I hope you don’t think you are wearing that shirt to school.”
“Why not?”
“The other kids will stare at you.”
“I don’t care if they do anymore. We have moved around so much in the past year that I’m used to it.”
My mom went silent and only told me goodbye before I left. I live about a mile away from my school, so I climb onto my bike and head off.
When I get to school I search for a bike rack, and find one by a group of guys wearing black. I think they notice my shirt when I stop and chain my bike up. They don’t say anything to me, I take that as a good thing. At least I hope it’s a good thing.
