Chapter 2
A week later, Gerard and I were hanging out every day during lunch and most days after school. We fell into a comfortable relationship very quickly, and I loved it. For the first time in months, I had used up all the credits on my phone. All because of him.
My mum always seemed to know something was up when I came home slightly later than usual, but she didn’t question anything.
But nothing is all perfect. Gerard and I silently agreed to keep our bond secret. Who knew what everyone else would say?
It was becoming winter and I had forgotten to bring my jacket to school. I stood outside of my first class, math, waiting for the teacher. I saw Gerard walk past and waved to him. His mouth curved into a smirk and his eyes shone before he nodded to me, a discreet sign that he had seen me.
I walked into the classroom, putting my stuff down as the teacher went to the front and began writing on the board.
I took out my books and started taking notes when the blonde girl sitting next to me tapped my shoulder. I turned to look at her and realized I had forgotten her name.
She started talking about something, but I was really only half paying attention. She continued her rambling, something about seeing me every morning, when I decided to interrupt.
“Erm,” I started. She looked at me with wide eyes. “Sorry if this is kinda rude, but uh, what’s your name?”
Her mouth slightly widened before she mumbled a quick “Alyssa” and began fervently working, suddenly ignoring me.
I stared at her for a moment before going back to work.
Weird.
Later that day, when we were finally let out for lunch, I stood by Gerard’s locker, waiting for him to get out of class, when this brunette girl approached me.
“Are you Frank Iero?” she asked me, looking annoyed.
“Um, yes.”
Out of nowhere, she pulled back a fist and punched my arm really hard.
“Ow!” I backed up against a locker.
“That’s for being a jerk! You were super mean to Alyssa today!”
I gaped for a second. “What did I do?”
She opened her mouth to talk when a redhead leaning on the lockers behind her interrupted.
“Sorry to break this up, but I need to get to my locker,” Gerard stated, staring at me.
The girl turned to him, back to me then to Gerard again before poking him and ordering him to “Tell your friend to be a little more considerate!”
She huffed and walked away. I watched her meet up with – wait, was that...it was! She met up with Alyssa at the end of the hallway and accompanied her out of the building.
I turned back to see Gerard raising his eyebrows.
“What, exactly, was that about?”
I shook my head and sighed. “I think that was about me forgetting a girl’s name.”
