I'm Okay. Trust Me
Gerard's Place
Frank's POV
The rest of the day dragged on. It was only when the last bell rang for the day that my heart began to flutter uncontrollably. I flew outside and started searching for Gerard. A few minutes later, I saw him emerge from the school doors, his head down.
“Gerard!” I ran toward him. His head flicked up and a huge smile spread across his face.
“Hey Frankie” Oh my God, he called me Frankie.
I ran my hand nervously through my hair and stuck the other in my pocket. It was suddenly hard to talk.
“I um.. Was wondering if maybe... We could hang out for a little bit..?” I stuttered, my cheeks blushing.
Gerard grinned even bigger. “Yeah, that would be awesome. Where at?”
“Umm... I'm not sure...”
“You could come to my place” Gerard stated, smiling.
My heart skipped a beat.
“Yeah, totally, that would be great!”
I couldn't believe this was happening. It felt like a dream.
I sat with Gerard on the bus. He was so close. He smelled like coffee and a little bit like cigarettes. I liked his smell. A lot.
“My parents are working late tonight, so you're welcome to stay awhile.” Gerard said almost giddily.
“Okay, sweet, thanks” My heart was going to explode.
“My brother Mikey will be home, but he shouldn't be much trouble. He usually just stays in his room.”
I nodded.
I was a little disappointed that me and Gerard wouldn't be home alone, but I didn't think about it long. Soon we got off at our stop and I followed Gerard to his house. We were quiet most of the way.
He unlocked his front and we stepped inside. It was dim and smelled musty, but I liked it.
“Mikey!” Gerard shouted.
“What?” Mikey shouted back.
“Come here”
I heard rummaging upstairs and then footsteps. I looked up as Mikey descended the stairs. He was a bit taller than Gerard. He had glasses. His hair was brown and stuck up a weird angles. And it looked like he had eyeliner on.
Gerard introduced us. “Frank, this is my little brother Mikey. Mikey, this is my friend Frank” I smiled and waved a bit. Mikey just stood there for a second taking me in. Finally, he mumbled a “hi there” and trudged back upstairs.
“Sorry about that.. He can be a little anti-social at times” Gerard said, shaking his head slightly.
I followed Gerard up to his room. It was dark too. There were posters scattered all over his walls. Action figures stood on top of his dresser. His bed was messy. There were clothes everywhere. I smiled. It fit Gerard well.
“Sorry it's a bit of a pigsty”
I laughed. “Mine isn't any better”
We spent about an hour or so talking. We talked about his parents and about how he liked Shineway so far. He explained how him and Mikey went to different schools because Gerard transferred a lot.
“How come you transfer so much?” I ask.
He was silent for a moment.
“I get bullied... A lot”
I frowned. I didn't want to think about that. I quickly changed the subject.
Somehow we ended up from Gerard sitting on the floor and me sitting in his desk chair, to both of us laying in his bed, staring up at the ceiling.
“So..” he began.
I turned on my side to face him and propped myself up on my elbow.
“About earlier” he continued. “I'm really, real-”
I cut him off. “Gerard, it's okay. I promise you”
I got a tingly feeling when I thought about the shower incident earlier.
“Are you sure? Because, I mean, it's not like I didn't like it, wait, I didn't mean it like-”
“Gerard” I cut him off again. I moved closer and put a finger to his lips. He tensed. I quickly moved my hand away. “It's okay, I mean it”
He propped himself on his elbow to face me. He smiled a little. He softly brushed a piece of hair out of my face. I prayed he couldn't hear of fast my heart was beating.
I didn't want him to think I was against him touching me so I softly brushed my fingers against his arm like I did back in the locker room.
“You're something else Gerard Way...”
He smiled.
“Same to you Frank Iero”
