I'm Okay. Trust Me
A Drunken Call
Gerard's POV
My parents said it was alright if Frank came over, so I spent the next 30 minutes trying to make myself look somewhat appealing. I picked out a plain black shirt and black skinny jeans that didn't have any rips or holes in them. And if you couldn't tell, I wear a lot of black. To top it all off, I sprayed a bit of cologne around my neck, something I rarely ever did.
Around 11:30 I heard a knock at the front door and practically flew downstairs. I opened the door and immediately wished I had made more of an effort to dress nicer.
In the doorway stood Frankie wearing a tight black polo, dark jeans that were a bit long on his short legs, and converse sneakers. I'm just gonna come out and say it. He looked hot.
“Hi Gerard” he looked up at me and smiled. God, I was melting. “Hey Frankie, come in” I ushered him inside.
I lead him to the kitchen where my parents were.
“Mom, dad, this is Frank. Frank, this is my mom, Donna, and my dad, Donald”
Frankie shook their hands. “It's a pleasure to meet you Mrs. and Mr. Way” Gosh, he was so cute.
My mom seemed fall in love with Frankie immediately, but my dad eyed him suspiciously for a moment. I sighed. My dad was always critical.
“Well, we'll be upstairs in my room if you guys need anything” I directed Frankie up the stairs quickly before my dad could say anything.
I closed the door behind us. “Your parents are really nice. I hope they like me” Frankie said, biting his lip, something he did when he was nervous. I picked that up fast.
“Are you kidding me? How could someone not like you?” I immediately started blushing after I said that. Frankie smiled, blushing a little himself.
Frank's POV
Me and Gerard spent awhile talking. He told me more about Mikey and his parents and his childhood.
“So tell me about your family” Gerard stated, jabbing me in the ribs playfully.
I bit my bottom lip. Family was an extremely touchy subject for me.
“Well, uh.. My dad left my mom and I when I was seven. I don't see my mom much, even though I live in the same house as her. She's always...” I trailed off. She's always what? Out drinking? Hungover? “She's always busy”
Gerard bit the inside of his cheek.
“I'm sorry Frankie”
I forced a smile. “It's alright. I kinda like the solitude” what a lie.
Gerard quickly changed the subject after that. He suggested we watch a movie. Though throughout the entire movie I gazed over at his face much too often.
By the time the movie was over, it was 3:15. My phone buzzed and I looked to see who it was. It was my mom. I excused myself and darted downstairs and outside.
“Hello?”
“Frank! Where the fuck have you been?” I could tell immediately she had been drinking.
“Mom, I'm at a friend-”
She cut me off. “Get your ass home right now or don't bother coming home at all”
“I'm not coming home, mom”
She hung up.
I sighed and trudged back to Gerard's room.
“Is everything alright?” Gerard asked.
I couldn't tell him the truth. That my drunken mother is forbidding me from coming home. Well maybe not forbidding me, but it probably isn't a good idea to go home tonight.
“Yeah.. My mom just said she has to visit my aunt. She's sick. She'll be back tomorrow” I lied.
“Oh... Do you need to go home?”
“No, actually it's probably better that I don't tonight” I immediately regretted saying that. I don't want Gerard to worry.
“Oh, well.. Frankie, you can stay the night here.. If you want... I mean, I'm sure my parents wouldn't mind”
I bit my lip again. “Oh Gerard, I don't know.. I don't want to be a bother or to overstay my-”
“Frankie” he put a finger to my lips like I had done to him the day before. I smiled. “It's okay. You aren't any trouble”
“Are you sure?” I asked, hopeful.
“Totally, I'll go talk to my parents”
I smiled bigger. “Thank you Gerard”
