I Don't Love You
Chapter 20
I sighed and leaned back on my bed. I turned my head so I could look at Frank; he was sitting with his back to the wall staring absently into to space. I poked him. He came back to reality with a jolt and looked down on me.
“Yes Gee?” He asked. I always got all warm and fuzzy inside when he called me that.
“Well, I was just wondering if you wanted to come outside with me in the front porch?” I asked all nervously, I don’t know why I was nervous. It was just Frank my best friend. He chuckled softly and ruffled my hair. I swatted his hand away and tried to fix my already unfixable red hair.
“yes Gee, I would love to.” He grabbed my hand and dragged me up the stairs. When we got upstairs I went to the kitchen to make a cup of coffee. All this spilling the truth made me really want it.
“Do you want any coffee?” I yelled to Frank.
“No!” He yelled back. I walked back to the coffee machine and started to make my coffee. I leaned against the counter with my arms crossed; I was humming and tapping my feet when I heard a voice interrupt me.
“Gerard?” A timid voice asked me. I looked up to see Mikey’s girlfriend standing there looking uncomfortable
“Hey Kat,” I responded. “Do you need anything?”
She shook her head. “No, I just….Mikey told me…about you being gay, and I just wanted to let you know that my older brother is gay and is dating…and I accept you. I won’t shun you. I’ve seen my brother come home crying. I don’t want that happening to you.” She walked up to me and pulled me in a hug. I’ve been hugged a lot lately, normally I wouldn’t have hugged back, but I just needed comfort.
I pulled away from her. “Thanks Kat, but who’s your brother?”
She smiled softly. “His name is Zacky, he’s dating Brian. They’re both in your grade.”
I knew exactly who she was talking about. “I know who they are; they’re both fucking amazing guitarists. I had no idea that they were gay, I didn’t even know that they were dating.”
“Yeah, they don’t want anyone to know.” I heard Mikey yell her name, she gave me an apologetic look. “Sorry, I have to go.”
I smiled at her. “Kat, I don’t care. Thanks,” I watched her leave. I grabbed my coffee that had been done making while Kat and I talked. I wrapped my hands around it and found Frank.
“Come on Frank, we’re going outside.” I grabbed his hand with my free hand and dragged him outside. I walked over to the porch swing and sat down Frank sat down next to me and started to softly push. I shivered; since it was getting closer to October the days were getting colder. Frank noticed and put his arm around me, I shifted closer so I was lying my head on his chest. I took a sip of my coffee and sighed; content.
“So, why did you want to come out here?” Frank asked softly.
I shrugged. ‘I don’t know I was just tired of being coped inside all day.” I felt Frank nod. I watched a bird fly lazily from tree to tree. “Do you think Pete will ever let us meet Patrick?” I asked.
“He might, he did tell us that we could one day. We should ask.” He told me. I just nodded.
I was tired.
Tired form crying all day.
Tired from reliving the painful memories.
I felt Frank’s hand softly stroking my hair. It was lulling me to sleep, the next thing I know my coffee mug dropped from my hand and shattered. After that I was asleep.
Asleep with Frank still stroking my hair and my head in his lap.
