I Don't Love You

*Mikey's POV*

I was sitting up in my room absentmindedly strumming my bass when my parents knocked on my door.

"Come in!" I shouted. I put my bass next to my bed and watched as they came in. They had this scared look on their face like they were scared to tell me something. I don't understand why, we're a close family we tell everyone everything.

"Mikey..." My mom started to say. "There is something we need to tell you." I looked at her with fear in my eyes.

"What is it!?" I asked panicky. "Did something happen to Frank!?" I all but shouted. My mom looked taken back.

"No no! Nothing happened with Frank." That was good. But I was still confused.

"Then what do you want?" My dad looked at me.

"If you would let your mother explain and not interrupt her every time she's trying to say something then maybe you would know." I hung my head in shame and embarrassment.

"Sorry," I mumbled. I felt my mother pat my head.

"It's quiet all right dear. Now as I was saying, your father and I have been talking and we decided to foster another child. Just like we did with your cousin. Remember that?"

How could I not? That was the most exciting thing that's happened to me in my short 14 years of life. My cousin Joe's parents were killed in a car crash when he was 17 so we took him in until he turned 18 a few months later.

"Yeah I do. But I don't understand why you're doing it again." I asked. My mom gave me a look that said I should already know why. And i guess I did, my mom was always helping people.

"It's because he needs a home and the state already knew we were clear to have a foster child so they put him with us. His name is Gerard and he's 15. You will learn more about him when he comes tomorrow." And with that being said they both stood up and left me in my room. I stared at the door they just left with so many different thoughts running through my head until one stood out. I was getting a new brother and he was coming tomorrow.
