The Ghost From Our Past

"What did you say?"

"I know where Shiloh is." He looked confused, trying collect his thoughts.

"How? How is that possible? Are you some sibling she never told me about? Some secret friend?" Gerard was starting to panic and freak out. I had to tell him the truth, so I took a deep breath and walked towards him.

"Gerard, calm down." I placed my hand on his face.

"Calm down? How do you expect me to calm down when...." I cut off his words with a kiss, he was hesitant at first but finally kissed back. My hand moved from his face to the back of his neck. I started playing with his hair, his hand moving up and down my back.

After several moments I pulled back to give us air and smiled. I expected the same look from him but instead he just looked lost. "Emily, what was that?"

I walked back to the swings and sat down, he followed and took the swing next to me. "You don't get it, do you?" I took off my glasses and with my thumb and index finger removed the contacts from my eyes. "You had it figured out, deep down I know you knew."

I lifted my head to show him my now natural blue eyes. He stared at me for only a minute before finally, "Shiloh?" A smile appeared on my face again.

"Hi Gerard, I've missed you."

Next thing I knew she was kissing me, why was she kissing me? What about Syn? However, I couldn't hold back anymore and returned the kiss. I could feel her playing with my hair, the kiss seemed so familiar. Finally we separated, "Emily, what was that?"

She almost looked hurt, I watched her walk and sit on the swings. I followed her and sat by her on the other swing. "You don't get it, do you?" What don't I get? She took her glasses off and was messing with her eyes. It started to weird me out, I hate someone touching their eyeball it's creepy.

Emily lifted her head back up and looked at me with now a pair of beautiful sparking blue eyes. It finally all came together, this whole time I was right. The similarities, the familiar kiss and now the blue eyes. It was her, it was "Shiloh?"

She smiled that familiar smile I came to enjoy seeing. "Hi Gerard, I've missed you." I couldn't take anymore, I leaned in and kissed her. A year and a half without knowing and now she was right in front of me. We broke apart, I pressed my forehead against hers.

Finally I moved away and we sat on the swings in silence. Emi...Shiloh broke it, "how've you been? I tried calling you but it was disconnected and the FBI wouldn't let me contact you any other way."

"You look different." That's all I could muster up to say.

"Yeah well they make you change who you are in witness protection. Growing out my hair, dying it blonde and wearing these green colored contacts. Changing my name and leaving everything in my past behind including you. Except I couldn't fully do that and created that twitter account."

"You look cute in those glasses." She twirled them in her hands.

"They're real too, I use to wear regular contacts but they said the glasses would help change my look. Gerard, are you going to use all this time to just say simple statements?"

"No, I'm sorry. Guess I'm still in shock about all of this. How are you?"

"Well for the first six months I lived in fear of Matthew finding me. I had to see a therapist for awhile, but after some time I got better. Sometimes I still fear he's around the corner but I stopped having panic attacks. I lived alone for over a year, they wouldn't let me leave without a guard watching my every move."

"How'd you meet Syn?"

"Syn would deliver food to me, after nine months of seeing me every week, he asked me out. Of course the FBI watched our every move, just in case he was working with Matt. We dated for six months before I decided I finally was tired of living alone. So he moved in and we've been living together for the past three months. He really loves me too, treats me like a queen and well you've met him."

It actually broke my heart to hear that she was happy and that he loved her. "I'm happy you're doing great and found someone to treat you right."

"Well how have you been? I couldn't keep track of you easily."

"Lynz and I are divorced."

"What, when did this happen? Was it because of me?"

"Shy, I told you before, Lindsay and I were fighting before you came along. We got divorced a couple months after the trial, we have joint custody over Bandit. I almost relapsed because of everything, but Mikey, Ray and Frank helped pull me up."

"How are the boys?"

"Well actually Mikey and Sarah are expecting, Ray and his family are doing great and Frank still acts like one of the kids."

"That's so amazing, I've been listening to all their new music. How's Bandit taking the divorce?"

"She's doing well, she's a tough girl though. It upset her to hear us fight and now I get her every two weeks."

"I'm so sorry."

"Don't be, you helped inspire me. Hey, how's your back?" She got up, turned her back towards me and lifted up her shirt. There was a still a long scar from that night.

"It will always be there, I guess a reminder that I'm damaged. Matt use to tell me he was the only person to find me beautiful, that no one else could ever love me."

"He was wrong and you're not damaged. You still can't see the way I see you, you are beautiful. That scar is a reminder of how brave and strong you are. I love you Shiloh." We sat there in silence lightly swinging.

"Gerard?"

"Yeah?"

"I never stopped thinking about you, you were always on my mind and in my heart." She lifted up her wrist and I saw a heart bracelet, same one she wore at dinner. "This is the heart necklace you gave me, I never take it off."

"Shiloh, I never stopped thinking about you. No matter how many times I told myself I had to stop, I couldn't. You became so much to me, even as my assistant you were always more than that. Back then I tried to fight those feelings because I was married to Lindsey, and now I still have to hold back."

"Says who?" She moved closer to me and I closed the gap between us. Shy held on to the chains from my swing as my hands went to her waist bringing us closer together. The kiss deepened, this felt so right. Soon Shiloh broke away and ran off to the play castle, she was laughing.

I missed that laugh so much, after given her a few seconds I ran after her. She was hiding, this castle was wooden with two towers that had slides connected. A wobbling bridge, steps, a rope ladder and a pole to slide down. One tower had a bigger platform and the other was a small square.

First I went to the smaller tower, nothing. So I crossed the bridge, which was funny to her because she started to giggle. "Shiloh, I'm going to get you!" I reached the bigger tower to see her lying on the floor. "I see you."

"Nope it's like Jurassic Park, if I don't move you can't see me." Her eyes were closed so she didn't see me move towards her. I watched her lie there as I stood above her, finally I lowered myself on top of her. As soon as she felt my weight added to her, her eyes opened. "What are you doing?"

"See a T-Rex can't see you if you don't move, however...." I leaned in close to her ear and whispered, "I'm more like a raptor." Next thing we were kissing again, but it was so much more. I don't know if it was because after all this time we finally were together but things got heated.

My hand moved up and down her leg, hers were traveling up my shirt. I moved to unbutton her jeans when her phone started ringing. She didn't move to answer until I guess she realized who the ringtone belonged to.

"Hello.....Syn I'm sorry.....I couldn't sleep so I went for a walk.....yeah that's why I'm out of breath.....I'm on my way home now.....okay.....love you too.....bye."

I got off of her and stood up. Once she had her phone back in her pocket I offered her a hand to help her up. She quickly buttoned her jeans back up and slid down the slide, I followed close behind. Shiloh turned around and looked at me, she wanted to say something but couldn't.

After several moments of silence she finally said, "I'm sorry Gerard. I think it would be better if we didn't contact each other." She fumbled with something, her contact case. Quickly she put her green eyes back in and her glasses on. "It's best for the both of us. Shiloh's dead and Emily has Syn now."

"No, I refuse to lose you again. I dont care what you have to call yourself, you will always be Shiloh. No one can take that away, here's my new number. Call me or text me anytime you need to, no matter what the time is." We kissed one last time before she headed home.

"Emily, wait!" She turned around to see me. "If you're ever looking for a new job, I'm in need of a personal assistant!"

She smiled before shouting back, "I tried that once! My boss tried to seduce me several times before I quit!" With that last remake she started walking again.

I drove home and went straight into my office. First thing I did was water Earl, his leaves were looking a bit droopy. Then I headed off to bed, got changed and was about to close my eyes. However I texted Mikey first with one simple sentence, "I was right."

Oh Dang It!! Gerard and Shiloh always get interrupted when things start to get heated.
