The Ghost From Our Past
The Coffee Shop
I finally made it home, because I was in a hurry it seemed to take even longer to get there. However, I made it and actually ran inside. Then I threw my coat on the couch and headed for my office. Once inside and I closed and locked it tight. I was being cautious over a piece of paper that I had no idea what was on it.
I sat down at my desk and placed the folded up paper on top of it. For several minutes I just stared at it, waiting for it to jump at me or come to life. Somehow my shaky hands took it and started to unfold.
I licked my lips, this was turning into almost a stealth mission. Finally it was a full sheet again, it was turned around. I took a deep breath and flipped it over and started to read.
"Gerard, we need to talk, meet me at the small coffee shop tomorrow at nine in the morning. I have information about Shiloh. Until then goodbye Gee, love Em."
Without knowing I had started to tear up. After all this time, I had found someone who could tell me about Shiloh. Tomorrow morning I would get to sit and talk to Emily again, I wanted to go to bed right now just so morning would come faster. My mind started thinking about what Emily would say about Shiloh.
Now I made my way upstairs and into my bedroom. I threw off my clothes and put on a pair of pajama pants that had coffee mugs on it. When I fell into my bed I just stared at the ceiling. Memories of Shy and I started coming to mind. Like on my birthday when she walked in on me after a shower, she actually saw me completely naked.
Slowly my eyes started to close, getting heavier and heavier. That night I had a dream about a having a normal life. Lynz and Bandit were sitting at the kitchen table waiting for me. Shiloh came in with dinner, smiling wide and serving us the meal. "Sit down Gee, your family has been waiting."
I had my family and my assistant back, everything was perfect. When I woke up the time was four in the morning, I hadn't slept for long. There was no point in trying to go back to sleep, it wasn't happening. So I went downstairs and made some coffee while watching some old school cartoons.
At about seven I decided to go get ready. I took a shower, dried my hair, got dress and had another cup of coffee. No point in trying to style my hair, just do the out of bed look. Soon it was eight and I started my walk to the coffee shop. I was of course early, so I ordered my usual. The spot where I usually sit was open and so I quickly took it before anyone else.
My leg was shaking, my hands sweaty and I sipped at the coffee. I was waiting and waiting, I looked at my watch and noticed it was nine-thirty. She's half an hour late, maybe she got stuck in traffic. At ten I ordered another coffee and continued to wait.
It wasn't until eleven I decided she wasn't coming and that this must have been a joke to her. I was getting up, grabbing my bag and started heading off. Someone grabbed my shoulder before I hit the door.
"Hey, are you Gerard Way?"
I turned around and saw one of the workers behind me. "Yes I am, how can I help you?"
"Some girl came in here early this morning and left this note for you." She handed me a folded piece of paper, same writing from the other. This time on the front it read "I'm Sorry".
"Thanks." I left the coffee shop and walked back to my house. Just like the night before I went into my office and locked myself inside. This time I wasted no time in unfolding the paper, I almost ripped it trying to unfold it. I held it up in front of me and started to read.
"Gerard, I'm sorry but after I got home last night I decided I acted to fast. I never should have given you that note, it was false hope. Please forgive me, I do need to talk to you about Shiloh. That wasn't a lie, meet me tonight at Tiger Rose park. Let's say about midnight, love Emily."
What was going on with this girl? Maybe something came up and she couldn't meet this morning. No, she said that she shouldn't have given me that note and she acted to fast. That means she regretted the first note, but she still wants to meet. Emily was making my head spin, was she playing games with me?
I went into my living room and laid on the couch, drifting off into a deep sleep. When I woke up it was twelve-thirty, shit I was late. What if she left already? I picked up my keys, ran out and into my car. Driving as fast as I could without breaking laws I got to Tiger Rose park. It was too dark to see anything or anyone, so I parked and got out. "Emily?!?"
-------------------------------------------
"Em, you okay?" I stared out the window as Syn drove us home from the restaurant. Did I do the right thing? The note was a mistake, I shouldn't have said anything, just leave it be. "Em?"
"Sorry, yeah I'm fine, just thinking. I love you, you know that right?"
He grabbed my hand and kissed it. "I love you too, did you have fun tonight? Were you surprised?"
"Very much so, I still can't believe it. Thank you so much for setting this up and all the signed items." Again I stared out the window watching things fly by me. Syn started humming I'm Not Okay and soon I was joining in. The words flew out of our mouths and I was air guitaring Ray's solo.
"Trust me!" I gave Syn a quick peck on his cheek just like Frank in the video. We arrived back at our apartment, Syn was tired and flopped on our bed without taking his clothes off.
"Babe, get changed and then you can go to sleep."
"Do it for me." I shook my head but started undressing him. First his shoes, socks, then his tie, shirt came next, and finally his pants. This left him in only his boxers, I giggled at them, they had tiny skulls on them. After he was done I got changed into my pajama shorts and a long T-shirt.
However, unlike Syn I couldn't fall asleep. I laid there thinking about what I have just done, this wasn't right. No way I would be ready by morning for the conversation I needed to have with Gerard. As quietly as possible I snuck out of bed and into the living room. Tiny kitty James appeared at my feet and started squeeing.
I reached down and petted him before getting back to the note. Tomorrow I would hand this to one of the workers and tell them to give it to Gerard Way. Once I was finished I folded it up like the other one and wrote 'I'm Sorry' on the front.
After I went back to bed, Syn reached for me and pulled me close. "Where'd you go?"
"Had to write something really quick." He snuggled against me and kissed my neck.
"You feel like getting lucky?"
"When you ask me like that, how can I resist?"
"You can't." He lowered his kisses to my back but I turned to look at him.
"I can resist just like this, goodnight." I kissed his nose and closed my eyes.
"No fun." He kissed me on the nose and went back to sleep.
It was seven when I headed for the coffee shop. There was a girl standing at the counter. "Hi, do you know Gerard Way?"
"Well of course!"
"Okay, he will be here in a little while. Can you give me him this?" I handed her the folded note.
"Yeah no problem!"
"Thanks!" I ordered a smoothie and left.
It was now eleven at night, I was going to meet Gerard no matter what. The park was one that no one went to anymore, perfect to meet him. It needed to be at night because our discussion needed complete privacy. I drove to the park, leaving Syn a more just in case he woke up.
I sat on the swings and waited for him. Soon it was almost half an hour past. Maybe he didn't get my note, maybe he didn't trust me this time. I got up and laid down inside the wooden castle tower. Soon I was awoken by someone yelling my name.
"Emily?!?" My eyes opened, Gerard was late but he finally showed. Should I stay hidden? No, we needed to talk. I moved towards the red slide and slid down the swirling plastic. Landing hard on my feet, he looked up to see me. "Emily?"
"Gerard, I'm glad you showed. I'm sorry about this morning, I needed to collect my thoughts. We need to talk because I know where Shiloh is."
I think you should have Gerard find Shy. To be completely honest, I mean we've been waiting for it forever.
