The Kids From Yesterday (Frerard)
Sunsets, blood, and horror
Frank
It’s true, I do love him. He’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me, and I will do anything within my power to make him happy. I just couldn’t lose that just yet.
I sighed and leaned closer into him. He tightened his grip on me, those warm hands caressing my arm, sending more electrical shocks up to my heart. The sun was setting. He chuckled, and I looked at him.
“Oh, it’s just that sunsets remind me of blood. It’s like the sun slit his wrists, and he’s bleeding all over the blue canvas.
“And the moon is just sitting there, watching. She probably drove him to it.” I chuckled at the comparison, not being able to see it as a beautiful sunset anymore. It was now just blood, spilling over the blue canvas of sky.
He intertwined his fingers with mine, only a few minutes later did we hear a female voice from outside my bedroom door.
“Dinner! Frank, are you and your friend gonna eat or what?” I sighed as we climbed back into the room, pulling the blanket and mattresses inside the room.
Gerard
Mrs. Johnsan looked at me the whole meal, occasionally asking questions: how Frank and I met, some of my background history, etc. Frank looked at me apologetically.
“Thank you Mrs. Johnsan, the pasta was very good.” I said as I stood up, following Frank to the kitchen with my dish.
Frank motioned me to his room as he saw a look from his mother’s friend, telling him to stay a sec. I walked up to the room, grabbing my guitar and playing randomly.
Frank
I sent Gerard up to my bedroom as my Ms. Johnsan gave me her ‘we are having your ‘first boyfriend’ talk’ look.
“Yeah Carolyn?” I leaned against the dining table as she poured herself some tea.
“I like him. He’s a very well mannered young man, he’s very handsome, and most of all,” she turned around to face me. “he really loves you, I can tell.” I rolled my eyes.
“Fuck Carol, he’s my first boyfriend, you don’t have to go all out on the crazy shit-”
“Yeah, whatever. Now go up there and leave me to my tea and soap operas.” She playfully hit me with a dish towel. I rolled my eyes again and walked up the stairs.
“Don’t fuck this up!” She called after me.
Gerard
Frank walked in, crawling behind me on the bed, and pouncing on me.
“What the fuck Frank!” I said in between laughs. I turned around and started tickling his sides, him giggling, me laughing hysterically.
After that episode of randomness, we collapsed on the bed, still shaking from suppressed laughter.
“Now what?” I laid on the bed, as Frank thumbed through movies. All oldies like Batman-the originals- and foreign horror flicks. He held up and old horror movie, I nodded my head, not like it mattered, it’s not like we were gonna be watching it. Dear, dear Gerard. Your obsessing over this aren’t you? My subconscious teased me. Fuck off, it’s not like you’re not getting some. I quietly scolded myself for that uncalled for comment. Still, I couldn’t help the scarlet that stole it’s way onto my cheeks. Smooth, Way.
I sighed and sat up, Frank settling into my lap. I held his hand and rubbed my thumb over it. Like I had thought before, watching the movie wasn’t really on the agenda, we just settled with the creepy music and screams blaring from the box, and a make-out session.
It felt like forever before he passed out on my chest, the ending credits displayed before me on the three and a half foot screen.
I got us under the covers, and I discarded my skinnies, being in my tshirt and boxers. I hugged him, falling asleep with my arms around the smaller boy.
