Arthur.
Life Explainations.
Sigh.
"I'm basically just a kid with a dream. Me and my best friends decided to start a band after school, so we did. We posted a few videos on the internet, played a few local bars, and now all of a sudden, we found ourselves signed with a major label and touring the country in a nice van. Now we're taking the time to make a decent record with Mudrock, the producer for the Avenged Sevenfold 'City of Evil' record. But of course, the main studio is in Jersey, and I told the label we didn't want to move to Jersey. So, since they collaborate with Warner, they asked a few nice people if they could house us for the meantime. You happened to be picked for me. I actually had no idea who I was gonna be staying with, I just packed my shit and left. Thanks, by the way."
"No problem!" He says, chuckling. "You actually remind me of myself when I was younger. My situation was quite similar to yours. How did you get into the music business?"
"I didn't really get into it. I am, in my opinion, made of music. It's my life and soul. My only goal in life, the very reason I'm here today, is to be in a band with my friends and make loud noise. I don't want to do anything else in life."
He blinks. He appears flabbergasted. "Wait, so, you uh...really? There's nothing else in life that you want?"
I shake my head.
He sits back, amazed. "Wow. That's...incredible. And you seem to be perfectly fine by yourself. No family? Kids? Spouse? Dog?"
Again, I shake my head.
"Wow. And there's nothing else at all you can imagine yourself doing?"
"Nope."
"Sounds pretty lonely to me."
I gaze at the floor, trying not to let me face show any emotion.
"It's not too bad. I'm used to it. I've always been alone. I've accepted the fact that it's all I'll ever be. Everyone else in the band is married. Some even have kids. But for me...I'm all I'll ever have."
I look up, and catch him staring at me, a heartbroken expression on his face.
"Don't say that. That's...depressing."
"Maybe so, but it is the truth."
He sighs heavily.
"I'm not gonna lie. I was the exact same way. I felt like art was my only companion. But my wife changed that." At that point I glance at his left hand, my eyes settling on a ring around his ring finger I hadn't noticed before.
"You love her?"
He smiles softly.
"Yes. She's my entire world. I'd be dead without her or my daughter. They're both too good for me."
