Some like to sleep, We like to play

Gerard flies back out to join the tour the next day and I am still upset about the whole situation. I try my best to push it to the back of my mind and instead focus on the kids. I have been thinking about putting them in day care/pre school a few days a week and a week after Gerard leaves again I take them in for a trial day.
When we get to the school Bandits eyes light up at all the toys and she asks if she can go play. Riley however is on edge because of all the other kids there and hides behind my legs. The teacher walks over and kneels down to their level saying "Well who do we have here?" Bandit looks up at me to make sure it's ok to talk as we have been going over not talking to strangers. I nod at her and smile and she looks back at the teacher and says "I'm Bandit." The teacher looks a little taken back by her name but smiles and says "It's nice to meet you Bandit" before turning to look at Riley who is peeking around my legs. "And what's your name cutie?" She asks and he ducks back behind my legs again. I reach down and grab his wrist pulling him away as I step to the side. I kneel down too and say "It's ok baby boy" and he mumbles out "Riwey" before burying his face in my neck as he cuddles me. I rub his back a few times before easing him off me and saying "I need you to be a big boy for me Ry. I know you'll have lots of fun here there's lots of toys and other kids to play with. There might even be some time to paint later." At the mention of painting Riley perks up and the teacher smiles, knowing she has something to work with. "Can I play mommy?" Bandit asks again and I nod at her before leaning in and giving her a kiss. "Have fun B" I tell her as she runs across the room to a group of kids near a toy box yelling "Hi" in an excited voice. "Inside voice B" I call out and she looks back and giggles before turning back and making friends straight away. "Wanna go play over there like B?" I ask and Riley shakes his head. I sigh and the teacher smiles at me reassuringly. A little boy comes running over and says "Hi" and Riley looks at him looking a little scared and whispers "Hi." "Wanna pway trucks?" The boy asks and Riley looks back at me and I smile and say "Go on Ry." Riley takes the hand the little boy is offering and they toddle across the room together before settling on the rug and picking up trucks. I talk to the teacher for a few minutes and she assures me the kids will be just fine and I can come back and get them in two hours. I make my way out the door and decide to get the grocery shopping done while I'm childless.

When I go back to pick up Bandit and Riley Bandit is in the corner giggling her little head off with another little girl and Riley is sitting by the window alone, just staring outside. When I walk over to him he looks up at me and I see dried tear tracks on his cheeks. "Mommy" he screams and launches himself off the floor and into my arms. I cuddle him tight whispering in his ear "It's ok baby boy I'm here." The teacher comes over and tells me that Riley realised I was gone about an hour in and after they calmed him down he just wanted to be left alone. I apologise and she shrugs it off, smiling at me and telling me at his age it's perfectly normal. I pick Riley up and walk over to where Bandit is and say "Hey B. Ready to go home?" She nods her little head and gives her friend a hug goodbye before taking my hand and walking out the door with me. "Bye" she calls to the teacher and waves and the teacher smiles and waves back.
Once we're in the car driving home I ask "Did you guys have a good time?" Riley says nothing but Bandit bounces around in her seat telling me all the things she did while I was gone. When she stops I say "Sounds like a fun day baby." We get home and Bandit runs around with Princess and I walk into the kitchen to get them a snack. "Mommy" I hear and when I turn around Riley has followed me and is standing behind me holding his arms out. I pick him up and say "What's up baby?" He rubs his face against my neck as he clings to me and I gently rub his back and rock him side to side. "I'm here Ry, it's ok. Want a snack?" I ask and I feel him nod against my neck. I put him down in a chair at the table and turn back to finish the snacks. I sit a bowl of cut up fruit infront of Riley and he starts to eat before I leave the room to get Bandit. After she washes her hands I sit her at the table and she eats too.
After snack time we all go into the living room and Bandit pulls all her ponies out on the floor while I turn the tv on and sit on the couch. Riley climbs up next to me and settles himself in my lap. "You wanna play Ry?" I ask and he shakes his head before clenching his hands in my shirt. I wrap my arms around him as I sigh, wondering if this clingy behaviour is normal.

The next time Gerard calls I tell him all about the kids first day of day care and how Bandit has gone back but Riley wouldn't stay there and his behaviour after the first time. "I'm worried there's something wrong with him. I mean I'm pretty fucking mental, what if he has something?" Gerard chuckles before saying "Babe he's three and a half I'm sure he's fine he's just shy." I agree but in the back of my mind I'm still worried. Our conversation drifts towards other topics and before long I'm telling him how much I miss him and I'm going crazy without his touch. "Baby I have never been this horny in my whole life. Just hearing your sexy voice is turning me on." He says and I sigh before saying "Three more weeks baby. I can't wait til you're back here fucking me into the mattress." He groans and says "Babe I gotta go before I get fully hard. I love you and I'll be home very soon." "Love you too bye" I say before hanging up and dropping the phone on the bed beside me. Ten weeks down, three to go.
