Bring Me to Life

Gone, Gone, Gone

Mikey’s POV:

“Hey Mikey, I'm heading out…are you sure you are going to be okay?” Frank asked wrapping his scarf around his neck. Frank had taken a week off to help me get settled in, and hadn't stopped worrying about me.

I shook my head smiling slightly, “For the tenth time this morning…I'll be fine. I won't even leave the house. You need to get going or you are going to be late.”

Frank nodded hesitantly and grabbed his briefcase. “Alright, you know my cell number if you need anything. Do not hesitate to call okay?”

“Okay…now go. Have a good day at work.” Frank hugged me tightly and walked out the door, shutting the door behind him. I heard his car pull out of the driveway, I was alone. For the first time in years I was really alone. I sat down on the couch and turned on the television, I couldn't find anything very interesting so I left it on the news. What I saw made my jaw drop and my hands shake.

“The body of a young women was discovered floating in the Hudson River earlier this morning. Police believe it to be the body of Hannah Livington, she disappeared three years ago coming home from work.” A picture of the girl was flashed on the screen and it was Hannah. The girl that was in the basement with me. James had really killed her. I couldn't help but blame myself, if I had not told the police about her, she would still be alive.

I needed to get out. I needed some fresh air, I didn't care that I had told Frank I wouldn't leave. I put on my shoes and grabbed my coat. The New Jersey weather was bitter cold. My breath came out in small white clouds, and snow was beginning to fall from the sky. I couldn't believe that Hannah was dead, I hoped that James had lied to me to scare me, that Hannah really wasn't dead. But she was. She was gone. The sweet, innocent girl that I knew had been killed. Murdered because of me. I couldn't help but think of the last time I spent with her before she was taken.

Hannah sat next to me. It was cold in the basement, so we huddled together to try and keep each other warm. Her head was on my shoulder and mine rested on top of hers.

“Are we ever going to get out of here?” She muttered.

I took a deep breath before answering, “Yeah, I think so. Sooner or later he is bound to make a mistake. We just have to be ready when he does.”

Hannah nodded, tucking her dark hair behind her ear, “Can I ask you a question?”

“Sure.”

“Why does he seem to have so much anger towards you? I mean, he calls you his pet. H-he burns you. He doesn't do that with me. What happened before I got here?” She asked, now looking straight at me.

I sighed, “The truth is Hannah, I lied to you. I wasn't brought here just a few days before you…I-I had been down here for about a year.” I heard Hannah gasp, “And Charles…he wasn't a stranger to me. He was my stepfather. Him and my mother were married for years. He got custody of me when they divorced and he blames me for why they separated.”

Hannah stayed quiet for a few moments before speaking, “Why does he blame you?” She asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

“I caught him cheating on my mom…so I told her.” I paused, “Sometimes I wish I hadn't. We were happy before then. We wouldn't be here if I hadn't. You wouldn't be here.”

Hannah took my hand and looked at me, “None of this is your fault Mikes. Charles is an evil man. He still would've done something bad. Evil in a person doesn't just come from nowhere. It has to be there all along.”

Before I knew it I was at a river. My hands gripped the railing and I felt tears running down my cheeks. A sob worked its way through my chest. Not only was Hannah gone but that means James is going to make good on his threats. He was going to go after my family and even Frank. He was going to kill me.

After a few minutes I began to walk back to the house. The snow was sticking to the ground by the time I was walking up the front steps. I unlocked the door and went inside the warm house. On the couch laid another yellow envelope. My heart stopped as I picked it up. Inside the envelope were more pictures of Gerard, Lindsay, Frank, and I. Every picture had a red ‘X’ marked across it. A piece of paper fell from the stack and landed on the floor. My hands shook as I picked it up and read it.

Did you see the news? Now you know exactly how serious I am. However I have a little bargain for you. If you do not want any more people to die you will meet me Thursday night at eleven PM at Greenwich Park.

Thursday night? That's two days from now. My life would end in two days, everything would be over. I needed to tell Frank how I really felt before it was too late. He needed to know everything.

Too cute. Sweet ending.

That was an amazing ending! I'm so glad none of the important characters died because if you did that that would not be okay
