I've Heard You've Been Bleeding

Stay Out of The Light

Blood. The only separation between me and the beings. The way it trickles down skin makes me go insane. The way it stains the skin and dries.... Veins that have never seen the light of day, experiencing oxygen for the first time....

Piercing the skin is nice too. I hate it when the skin is warm or clammy. The pale, ice cold skin is my favorite. It makes it more.. intriguing for me I guess. Plus, that's where the best blood is. The way beings become so weak, never seems to make sense. The strongest, fearless person could easily be just as scared as the wimpiest person ever to live. How could they not be scared of jumping of a building but become scared shitless when I start sucking their blood. It's not like I kill..

Okay, I've killed like once or twice but that's besides the point. They deserved it anyway..

It doesn't matter. All that matters is who I have to find when I hear my stomach growl again. I'm really picky about which beings I suck from. They cannot be too fat or too skinny. The fat ones have sweet blood, which is disgusting, and the skinny ones are too bitter. They can't be too tall or too short. I don't come across too many tall ones, but when I do, I have to climb to get to their neck. I hate getting to the short ones because I hate feeling like I tower over them. The only exception to any of these; the skin..

Like I said. The paler, the better. I don't know why it seems to be that way, but I'm perfectly content with it. Even if it was the other way around, I would still prefer the pale skin. I like the way it glows in the night. It makes it easier to find my target. Sometimes, it just looks beautiful and innocent.

I woke feeling banged up. My head was pounding and my body throbbed. I looked around at my surroundings and was in my room. How the hell did I get here?

*Flashback*
My stomach growled in the silence of my "slumber". I quickly sat up and smiled. I looked out my window. The sun was finally down and the midnight moon was glowing bright. Perfect.

The crisp, midnight breeze, made me feel light as I walked to find my next victim. As excited as I was, I had to act completely normal. Just like a being. I hated it sometimes because it was just a constant reminder that I didn't belong here, and I knew it.

I shoved my excited nerves down and continued walking. Not many beings were out because it was a "school night" and children had to be in bed and whatnot. It's not like I go to children a lot. Only when I'm feeling depressed. They're blood is like comfort food. Fattening yet innocent.

I stopped when I smelt the best scent ever. Of course, blood.

I found myself in an ally way. Three figures appeared in the distance and one of them was my dinner.

As I eased into the shadows, I heard screaming and yelling. One of the three was being beaten by the other two. That was my target. He was miserable. He was perfect.

Just so we get things straight, I only feast off those who feel worthless. In all honesty, I'm doing everyone a huge service. Instead of killing, I make them realize that they should be happy they're living. Because they don't know what it's like to be dead. They wouldn't want to either. Trust me.

"How do you like that, Pansy?" One of the beings yelled as they kicked my victim.
The boy groaned in pain, curling into a ball and clutching his stomach. "Fuck.. Off." He moaned. They continued to beat him.
"Hey!" I yelled, not knowing what I was about to do next. I was just going to wing it. "He said fuck off."
"Who's there?" The two beings stopped and looked around. I had forgotten I was in the shadows of the alley. I figured it was a good plan, so I stayed.
"It's gonna be your worst fucking nightmare if you don't leave right now." I said, using my power to whisper in their ears. I scared them shitless and they ran, leaving the boy alone and on the ground.

I walked over to the boy. He looked familiar, like I had seen him in school before. I didn't know his name but he was definitely familiar.

"Are you okay?" I asked as I extended my arm out, helping the weakling off the ground. His face was badly beaten and unrecognizable, but I knew I had seen him before.
He immediately bent over gave out a nasty cough. He turned around and threw up on the side of the building, clutching his shirt. He spat and shook his head. "Why did you do that?" He asked in heavy tone.
I was surprised at the question and couldn't think of an answer. "I don't know.. It didn't seem right?" What was I supposed to say? "I didn't want you to loose all your blood because I would starve without it?"
He turned around and shook his head again. "No one has ever done that before. Who sent you?"
"What? No one?" I was really confused about what he was saying.
"Then why are you here?" He said, narrowing his eyes and clutching his fists.
"I was looking for something to eat and then I found you and stopped them from beating you." I said quickly. I started to become nervous and scared. It was the best way to summarize it, but hey, I wasn't lying.

He started at me and started to walk away. My fear had gone away. I was in control again. "Wait!" I yelled. I grabbed his wrist and watched him freeze at my touch. "Let me clean up." I spun him around and pushed him against a building. My fingers traced the veins on his neck.
"What are you doing?" He asked in fear. I tilted his head back, exposing as much ice cold, pale skin as I could.
I smirked. "Getting my food." My fangs popped from my gums and brushed against his sweet skin. Finally when I found my spot, I pierced him.

The boy winced and moaned out of pain as I feasted. I stopped when his body became almost lifeless. I spat on his wound and watched as the scare formed on his neck. I smiled as I felt my stomach settle. I set his body down and turned to walk back to my apartment.

I heard him groan as he woke. Then out of nowhere, I felt a tug at my legs. I fell and hit my face on the cement. The last thing I remembered was being pulled by my feet. I blacked out.

That didn't really explain how I got back to my apartment but I figured it didn't matter. I laid in my head, trying to sleep but was distracted by the pounding sensation going through my head. I got up to get some aspirin.

I was jumped when I saw someone in my kitchen. I moved back into the corner then slowly peered around to see who it was.

They stood about 5'5, taller than me, and jet black strands barely touched they're back. Blood that had dried and bruises covered their backside. I looked around and found their shirt on my counter. I looked back and watched as their back muscle flinch. They were humming a tune I couldn't recognize. A strange scent swept across my senses. They were cooking, in my kitchen.

I decided to slowly move from my looking spot. They turned when the floor creaked. I froze when I his eyes met mine. His hazel eyes were covered by the raven hair that hung above. Bruises and dried blood was painted on his square face, covering his pale, porcelain skin. But the thing that got me, was the fresh scar on his neck.
