The Aftermath is Secondary
Chapter 5
"Your uncle?" Kobra asked and I nodded. He use to be around when I was little, but according to my father he left, to fight in the west. Never came back.
"You grew up." Dr. Death said and I nodded.
"People do that you know." I retorted. The last thing I wanted was to get caught up here on family.
"So why are you here? My office is basically when there has been a fight or there is a new announcement. And by the way Kid and Ghoul are standing they're protecting the door." He pointed out and I rolled my eyes.
"She tried to kill Jet." Ghouls said and I could almost hear the smirk in his voice.
"Yep, definitely my brother's daughter. " He said and thought for a second. "How are you even here? Knowing him, he wouldn't let you leave, let alone come here." He pointed out and I looked down.
"He doesn't know I'm here. I left years ago." I said quietly and his eyes went wide.
"What?" He was shocked. People normally were. How could the head generals oldest daughter be such a rebel?
"Mom had another kid, they wanted to put her in the Drac division. I was against it so we ran. But they have her again." I paused, not trusting my own voice when I heard someone stop at the door.
"There was a attack not far out of this zone. We're checking it out." Poison said and motioned Kobra and Ghouls to follow but Kobra stayed next to me.
"I'll stay here, hold down the fort." He tried to lie but I saw through it easily. There was something he wasn't telling Poison.
"Okay, if anything goes wrong make an announcement, we'll get here as quick as we can." Poison said, eyeing Kobra and walked out, followed by Dr. Death. I looked over at Kobra.
"Hold the fort down? Really?" I smiled lightly and he looked down, a slight blush creeping to his face.
"How did you know?" He asked and I shrugged.
"Master rouge here. I know all about lying and things like that. It was convincing, I'll give you that." I said and he did a fake little bow.
"Why thank you." He said and I couldn't help but laugh. He smiled and leaned against the desk. "So want to help me keep watch?" He asked and I shrugged.
"Why not?" We walked outside and after 30 minutes I pulled out my pack of cigarettes. I lit it and inhaled and looked over at Kobra. I blew the smoke out, the wind blowing it away from us. "So why did you stay back?" I asked and he looked over at me and smiled lightly.
"To talk to you." He looked down a bit and I raised an eyebrow.
"Even after I tried to kill your friend?" I inhaled again and this time held the smoke in a little longer before blowing it out from my nose.
"He would've deserved it. You don't just blurt someone's life story out." Kobra looked at me and I shrugged.
"He didn't even touch it." I said quietly, looking away from him. I threw the butt of the cigarette on the ground, stomping it with my boot. Someone's index finger and thumb lifted my chin up and I made eye contact with Kobra.
"I don't know what you've been through but I can see it's affected you. Don't push us away." He said quietly and I looked deep into his green/hazel colored eyes.
"I'm in a war all my own, I can't drag anyone else in." I whispered and he pushed me back slightly into the wall and I felt my eyelashes flutter slightly.
"What if I wanted to be dragged into it?" He said into my ear and I felt shivers go down my spine. I didn't respond right away, not really assure what to say.
"Now why would you want that?" I asked finally and he pulled back slightly, just so his face was inches from mine.
"Because, no one should face it alone." He said and started to lean in. Unlike last night I didn't freeze up. It was strange. Just as his lips grazed mine a voice pulled me out of my little trance.
"What the hell are you doing?!" Poison's voice erupted through the air and Kobra was ripped from me and thrown to the ground.
