Through Tragedy, I Found You
Chapter 3
Gerard's POV
I order the teen an espresso just like mine, and hand it to him politely. He licks his lips, locking his vision to the coffee cup.
"Thanks for the coffee," he mentions.
"My pleasure. I owe you one, kid," I wink, but fail miserably. "About your jacket..." I directed him to his worn out jean jacket, a magnificent baby blue, now brown from the beverage spilt earlier.
He nods slightly. "I know," he pauses, sipping his espresso. " It's fine. Really."
I can't help but feel sympathetic, and I reach out to his hand. "You sure?"
"Positive."
"At least let me drive you back home."
The teen remains silent, and looks down to his threadbare converse.
"Hello?"
"N-no." He bites his tongue and shakes his head.
"Fine," I leave the coffee shop. The last thing I need in my life is an interference.
