Would You Carry Me To The End?

Bring It Back, Because You Don't Know What It Means To Me

Max's POV

And now I'm back to where I started. Out. I decided to go back to where I used to reside. The forest by the stream. I know this place the best. Probably because I've been here the longest.
But then I hear a slow crunching of the dead leaves surrounding me. It's coming from the thick bunch of trees ahead. I pull out my revolver, ready to attack. Lock and load.
I steadily hold it out in front of me, walking forward. I feel like those guys from 'Cops', I'm not gonna lie. And as the footsteps get closer, I ready myself even more.
But as soon as I see the man holding his hands up in defence in front of me, I drop my gun down beside me.
"Frank?!"
"H-hey, Max." he says, running forward and embracing me in a hug. I stay stiff. What's he doing here?
"How did you find me here?" I ask as he lets go.
"I knew you'd be here. This is where I first saw you."
"And now for a follow up question: Why are you here?"
"I couldn't just let you go back."
"...Why not?"
"It's dangerous out here. We don't know how many humans are left. And I'm grateful to be able to know one myself....especially one like you."
I find myself felling flushed, and I'm pretty sure I'm blushing beyond note. Shxt, that's embarrassing!
He seems to find it cute and chuckles. The corners of my mouth perk up into the closest thing I can call a smile at him.
But then I realize the situation and snap back into it. "No...no I can't say. Trust me when I say I'm more trouble than I'm worth."
"Not in my book."
Jesus, that line was so cheesily clever, that I can't help but smile again...maybe I could stay a bit longer with him...
"Besides..." he continues. "You left all your doctor stuff at our house."
I sigh. "Fine." he smiles and takes my hang, beginning to lead me back to the house. "And it's called medical supplies."
"Oh, just come on and shut up." he says jokingly. I smile at him and we begin heading back. But I tell myself this is it. I'm only gonna give myself one last chance to behave properly or else that's it. I'm done.

**************

Once we reach the house, Frank looks genuinely surprised about something that I'm pretty sure all of the deductive reasoning in the world wouldn't be able to crack.
"Come on, upstairs." he says, motioning for me to follow.
"Ok..." I walk up behind him and he brings me to a door that I'm not so familiar with.
"What's this?"
"Close your eyes." he says, taking my hand. "I put something together while you were gone."
I chuckle and close my eyes, hearing the steady creak of the door open as he guides me forward.
"Wait." he says, letting go of my hand and running ahead.
"Frank, what is all this?" I ask, curiously.
"Open your eyes and see for yourself." he says.
I open my eyes, and what I see in front of me practically makes my jaw drop. Frank has taken all of my medical supplies and created a full out experiment room.
"Welcome to 'The Office." he says, grinning proudly as he casually leans on a chair.
He did an unbelievable job. Everything is neatly stacked, space out of hung on shelves and tables all around the room. There's even a chair with leather belts bolted onto the armrests in case we catch a body to test on.
"Frank..." I say, astonished. "This is incredible..."
"You like it?" he says, walking over to me.
"Of course! I can't believe you put all this together!"
"Well, believe it." I smile at him, pulling him into a tight hug. He literally took the time to do all this just for me. Maybe he's more of a friend than I thought.
"So...what now?"
"Well..." I walk over to the chair. "I already have a syringe of the test antidote ready that you have been so kind as to place over there-" I point to a syringe stood straight in a holder. "-Why don't we go catch one of those motherfxckers and test this puppy out?" I tap the chair lightly."
"Sounds good to me!"
I smile and walk over to him, pulling him away lightly. "Come along, Frankie. Time is of the essence."

Notes

Sorry it took me so long to update. I basically had it all written down, and I typed up what I wrote into the contents section, but unfortunately my dumbass computer decided that it would be a massive bxtch to me and corrupt all my work. So I had to hand copy it and type it all back into the website. FML.
Anyways, thank you so much for clicking here. And as always, Happy Reading ^_^
