This Is The Best Day Ever

~Frank's POV~

I woke up in a cold sweat, panting and out of breath. My comforter and pillow were strewn across the floor, and my hair was matted and clinging to the skin of my forehead.

It was a nightmare, no doubt, but I couldn't remember anything about it.

A sudden gust of freezing cold wind ghosted across across my flesh, and I looked towards the other side of my room, realising I'd left the window open.

The sun was just barely rising. I glanced over at the old clock that hung lopsidedly on my dreary beige bedroom wall.

4:36am.

There's no point trying to fall back into my stupor now, I woke up around five anyway. I pushed myself off of the slightly lumpy mattress to go and close the window. I twisted the latch and it snapped shut, finally blocking out the freezing air. Stupid fall, I always thought it was the worst season.

Condensation had gathered on the wooden frame of the window, along with a few mould spores just under the windowsill. I wrote my name in the water droplets, and watched as it dripped down, taking down every drop in its path with it.

I sighed and pushed myself off of the windowsill using my elbow. I felt something cold touch the flesh of my neck, and my hand flew up to see what it was immediately. I hated things touching my neck.

It was the timekeeper. I groaned in annoyance. Damn thing. I prized it open, reminding myself of how much longer I had to wait until I experienced hell.

2 days, 16 hours, 53 minutes, 7 seconds.

It was like a ticking time-bomb. I snapped it shut between my thumb and forefinger. I didn't know what to do with myself. Maybe I should shower? I really couldn't be bothered - I'll make time later. I still had a few minutes left before I had to get ready, so I flopped down onto my bed.

My mind wandered to Gerard. I wondered if his timekeeper had gone off yet? Had he been paired? I wouldn't be surprised, he was a few years older than Mikey and me.
He's probably got a really cute chick with whom he has almost everything in common. I bet she's perfect for him. They'll get married, have kids, grow old together.

But what if his partner was a guy? I mean, it's not a rarity - it happens all the time. Not that I have anything against it, I'd just be mortified if it happened to me.

I'm absolutely fucking terrified.

My mind was racing, so I decided to get ready before Istarted over thinking things. Over thinking things was bad. I padded across my carpeted floor, and tugged open my wooden door. I tiptoed down the corridor towards the bathroom, trying desperately not to wake Mom.
I made it without making too much noise. I plugged the sink and began to fill it with cold water. I shut off the tap and took a deep breath before plunging my face into the icy abyss. I stayed that way for a few seconds, before my lungs started desperately need air. I retracted my face and took a few sweet breaths of much needed oxygen.

After drying my face off with a flannel, I walked back to my room, feeling considerably more awake. I sauntered over to my closet and threw on the first clothes I could find that were in half decent condition. It was a stripy t-shirt and faded blue jeans.
I tugged on my socks and boots, combing my fingers through my hair as I leapt down the narrow staircase. The steps creaked under my weight.

When I reached the kitchen, I wasn't hit with the familiar aroma of black coffee and burnt toast, so evidently Mom had slept in again.

I decided that I would grab something on the way into school. I slung my backpack across my back, and grabbed my keys, letting myself out of the off-white front door.

I was in a surprisingly good mood, which was a nice change.
