Let Me Teach You A Thing Or Two

As we drive Gerard is going all in singing along to Smashing Pumpkins and all I can do is smile and laugh. His head is tilted back smiling and singing. I look in the rearview mirror and spy Jada. She’s looking out the window, her hair blowing in the wind. She turns her attention back to the front and our eyes meet for a second but then I quickly look away. My mind wanders while my eyes try to pay attention to the road. To my right is the Starbucks and I turn in the driveway and find a parking spot.

“Yes! Coffee!” Gerard exclaims, his whole face lights up with excitement. He turns into a kid when it comes to coffee.

I turn off the ignition and hop out of the car. I run around the back of it and open the back door for Jada. She smiles up at me which gets me shakey. I’ve never felt this way before. She has some sort of spell on me.

“Why thank you,” she says as she walks towards the door of Starbucks. I shut the door and lean against it.

“Hey how come you didnt open the door for us?” Mikey asks sarcastically.

“Yeah Toro, we want some gentlemen service also,” Bob adds laughing slightly.

I’m left with Gerard, who climbs out of the car. He shuts the door and leans against it. We watch Bob and Mikey catch up to Jada.

“I’ve never seen you act this way before,” Gerard says.

“I’ve never felt this way before,” I confess.

“Looks like someone is starstruck,” He chuckles, as he slaps my back and walks towards the building.

I rub the back of my neck and sigh. Gerard turns around walking backwards arms wide open. “C’mon dude!” I laugh and jog up next to him. He turns around and I wrap my arm over his shoulders. He pull open the door and stops in his spot. I end up bumping into him.

“What the hell dude?” I ask frustrated.

“I… uh nothing,” He mumbles as he walks over to the table where everyone is sitting. That was weird.

“Did you guys order?” I ask as I sit down next to Jada, Gerard pulls up a chair next to Bob and I. He sits on it backwards you know the back in the front and wrapping your legs over it.

“Nope, we waited for you guys,” Mikey said.

“Well, what are we waiting for? Lets go order!” Gee says as he gets up. I wait till the guys are gone and look over at Jada.

“Do you want anything? My treat.” I ask with a smile and some blush on the side.

“Oh, uh, you don’t have to,” She stutters.

“I insist.”

“Um… a frappuccino works.” She smiles.

“Coming right up!” I exclaim and she laughs as I walk up to the counter. I order our coffees then waited. I turn around to see Mr. Iero sitting by a window working on his computer with earbuds in. Hm.. it’s weird seeing teachers places that you hang out in y’know? I like it though because it’s like whoa they have a life.

“Toro and Jarvis,” the cashier says. Taking the orders I head over to our table. I hand her, her drink and take a sip of mine.

I look over at Gerard and he seems in la-la land. I wave my hand in front of his face attempting to break him from his trance, “Hello! Earth to Gerard!”

“Huh?” He replies, “Shit, sorry dude. Were you talking to me?”

“No one was, where is your mind at?” Bob asks before taking a sip of coffee.

“Ugh, I don’t know dude” he sighs as he plays with his coffee before taking a sip. Jada checks her phone and stands up.

“I’m sorry but I have to get going,” She apologizes.

“No sweat I’ll unlock my car so you can get your bag or I can drive you to your house,” I suggest as I begin to stand up.

“Um.. you can just unlock the car so I can get my bag, my mom is actually here,” she says.

“Alright, I’ll be right back guys.” I hold open the door for her then walk over to my car. I pull out my keys and unlock it and grab her bag.

“Thanks for everything Ray,” She smiles and thanks me. I take her hand and kiss the back of it.

“My pleasure Ms. Jarvis,” I look up into her eyes to see she has shimmer of light in her eyes and blush on her cheeks.

“I’ll see you around, yeah?” She asks as she begins to walk backwards.

“Most definitely,” I reply as I slip on my shades and walk into Starbucks. I sit back in my spot and Gerard looks at me in total amazement.

“What?”

“DUDE THAT WAS TOTALLY SMOOTH AS FUCK” Gerard freaks out. Bob and Mikey start clapping.

“Dude, tell me your ways.” Mikey says.

“I have no words Toro,” Bob speaks up.

I relax in my chair slumping down slinging one arm over the back of it, “Well boys, you could actually learn a thing or two from me.”

Personally, I don’t even know what I just did. My heart was just like fuck it.
