To the End
The World Will Never Take My Heart
Fuck it, who needs school? Frank smiled lightly to himself as he watched Gerard out of the corner of his eye. He didn't want to go back to school, there were only a week or two left anyway. His mom had moved out here with him after finals, just because she was worried something would happen and he would end up not taking any finals and failing. Frank had assured her nothing like that would happen, but of course she didn't listen to him. She never listened to him.
“Gee,” Frank said as Gerard's head quickly turned to look at him. “We're not going to school.”
“What?” Gerard asked, slightly surprised. “You don't even know this town, Frankie. Where are we going to go?”
“Hrm...” Frank looked down at his feet as he reached for Gerard's hand and laced his fingers through his. “You take me to your favorite spot.” Gerard was about to speak up, though Frank cut him off with a kiss “Please, Gee? For me?”
Gerard sighed “Fine, Frankie, only for you~ Damn... My grades are going to take a huge drop because of you.” He said with a small chuckle.
“But it's worth it?” Frank asked hopefully as he hugged Gerard's arm close to his chest.
“What isn't worth it for you?” He replied, looking down at Frank and kissing his forehead lightly.
Frank smiled and leaned his head on Gerard slightly as he was led to the edge of town. “It's not the best place in the world, but I really love it~” Gerard told him as he sat down in the the grass, patting the area next to him as he looked up at Frank.
Frank didn't notice Gerard's motion, however, he was too busy looking around. They were in a large field, right next to an old and rusty playground. The blue coated metal was chipping away, with paint flakes covering the rubber floor. “This is where my parents used to take me and Mikey when we were little. It used to make me so happy, just climbing around on this big metal contraption. It always seemed to fix whatever small little problems I had at the time. It was like a heaven on earth. And it's never been well known, there was a school right over there,” he said, motioning to a big open space next to the playground. “It burned down a long time ago, and I guess people just tried to pretend that the entire site never existed. I still like it, though.”
“It is nice...” Frank said as he sat down next to him. The wind blew towards them gently and brushed Gerard's hair away from his neck so his large scar was completely exposed. Frank couldn't stop himself from starting, and after a few moments Gerard noticed and sighed.
“My dad's sorta really abusive.” He told Frank, who just stared at him blankly. Frank had never been told anything like this before and had absolutely no idea how to handle the news. He took one of Gerard's hands gently in his and gave it a light squeeze. Frank opened his mouth to ask “why” though quickly shut it deciding he didn't need to be pushy. “You can ask me whatever, Frankie.” Gerard told him, noticing his reluctance to ask the question.
“...Why does he beat you..?” He asked quietly after a few moments.
“He just hates me... I was born when my parents were teenagers, and I suppose I sorta ruined my dad's life. He had to give up a lot of stuff and stay home with my mom all the time to help her take care of me, so right now we don't even have that much money since neither of them finished high school and can't get decent jobs. I was just a mistake... I should have never happened... And I wish I hadn't... Each time I come home drunk or high I get it even worse, so I started not coming home most nights, and only Mikey seems to care.” He sighed and put his hands on his head “I'm just a failure, Frankie.”
Frank sat there quietly for a moment, trying to process everything. “Gee.. Don't you dare say that..” he said rather harshly. “Don't you ever say that you are a failure again, or that you wish you weren't born, or anything like that shit that you just fucking said. That's the stupidest fucking shit I've ever heard, and just... fucking hell, how could you think that?”
“Fran-” Gerard started, though Frank cut him off.
“No! Don't interrupt me! You're probably the best thing that has ever happened to me, and I know you've done stupid stuff and that you probably will even more in the future but I honestly don't give a single fuck. I promise you, I will follow you to the edge of the world if I must, I'd fucking do anything for you. You're like my entire fucking world, okay? I have nothing to live for right now but you, I mean I've given up on everything and everyone else already. You're the one who saved me from feeling like shit every single day of my life until I finally just got sick of feeling like that and offed myself. So, I'm sorry, Gee, but seriously, shut the fuck up. You're so fucking perfect to me just... ugh... I don't even know..”
“That's not fair, Frankie.” Gerard said after a few moments
“What?”
“You. You're so sweet to me when I don't deserve it, you always try to make me happy when you shouldn't, I'm not a good person like you Frankie. I even cheated on you yesterday and you just seemed to become even nicer. I don't deserve you Frankie, and you don't deserve me.. You should be in a happy relationship with some popular girl who's incredibly sweet, not a loser like me... Oh Frankie..” Gerard said as he pulled Frank into a hug, holding Frank's head to his chest.
Frank closed his eyes, unsure of what to say, though his mind was racing with ideas. He wanted to reassure Gerard in some way that even if he could do better, he didn't want better. He wanted Gerard, not anyone else. He opened his mouth to speak, though all he could do was let out a small breath and silently hug Gerard back.
But, to Gerard, that was really all he needed to do.
“Gee,” Frank said as Gerard's head quickly turned to look at him. “We're not going to school.”
