Remembrance
R
"W-What was that for?" Ray laughed as I layed my head down on his chest. I giggled a bit at his nervousness and just forced myself bac to sleep.
•••
"Skylar?" Ray sung. I shot up from my sleep, hitting my head off Ray's head that was hovering over me.
"Ow, ow, sorry." I apologized, rubbing my Forehead.
"It's okay." Ray laughed. I kissed his forehead better before jumping to the ground. I ran into the bathroom and did the morning routine of pee, shower, and brush my teeth. I skipped out of the bathroom and into the kitchen where everything was already made, making me to just take one of the provided bagels and the already poured cup of juice.
"Thank you!!" I shout to who ever made it, when I realized I hadn't seen my Aunt, who was supposed to be staying here, the whole time.
"Ray?!" I walked into the living room. He was sitting on the couch, sipping his coffee and reading a comic book.
"Yeeessssss?" He held out his word. I smiled and sat beside him.
"Where is Aunty?" I asked, before taking a bite of bagel.
"Um, well... She left after you guys. Now that I think about it, I should check my cell phone, haven't really touched it since you called the other day." He sighed, putting the comic on the table and rubbing his eyes tiredly.
"Sorry." I said, taking another bite of my bagel and looking up at him with sad eyes.
"For what?" He remarked curiously.
"I don't know, I'm just sorry sometimes." I sighed, leaning back more into the couch.
"Hm." He hummed as he sipped more of his coffee. I finished my lunch and got comfortable beside Ray, reading the comic over his shoulder. I wasn't reading the comic, as much as admiring the artist's peculiar style of drawing. The way they matched the colours, to the way they stylized their backgrounds. The comic was finished all to soon and I sighed again. The pain in my arm and head returned, the constant pounding in my ears drowning out the apparent silence that was already in the room.
"Skylar, are you okay?" Ray asked. I had my head in my hands and my knees pulled to my chest.
"N-No. When are we going to the hospital?" I stuttered. My head was spinning and I felt like everything around me was gettin lighter.
"I was thinking about making the drive to your regular doctor's office on Friday, after your party." He said, turning his whole body to look at me.
"I-I think I should go now. Please?" I begged. I clenched my eyes shut.
"O-Okay." He stood up and grabbed his phone and keys.
"C-Can Gerard st-still come?" I got out as Ray wrapped a jacket around me and picked me up.
"Sure." He said. He opened the front door, walking out with me and shutting and locking the door behind us. He set me in the backseat, doing up my seat belt and making sure I was as comfortable as I could get.
We sped off to Gerard house and Ray offered his phone back to me. "Are you able to call Gerard? Let him know we are coming and to get his passport?"
"Mhm." I hummed lazily and toke the phone. I flipped it open and found Gerard's contact, quickly dialing his number.
"Hello?" A voice rang through that was similar to Gerard's voice (My specifications that it was another man), but wasn't.
"Gee?" I asked.
"No, this is his brother Mikey, he's in the bathroom. May I ask who this is?"
"I-It's Skylar." I stuttered as a jolt of pain came through my spine.
"Oh, may I take a message or something?" Mikey asked.
"We'll be at his house in a matter of minutes and we would be very appreciative if he could be ready with his passport." I replied as sophisticated as I could since I didn't really know Mikey.
"I'll make sure he's ready. Is Ray there?"
"He's driving."
"Okay, well, if you could tell him that I will have to be joining you because Gerard doesn't want me to be left alone in the house."
"Gladly." I replied. "Thank you and see you soon."
"Okay." He said before hanging up. I sighed and gave the phone back to Ray. "Mikey will be joining us."
"Sounds good." Ray replied, focusing on the road again.
The drive to their house was silent. They jumped in the car with us, Mikey in the back with me and Gerard in shotgun.
"So what's with me bringing passports and stuff?" Gerard asked.
"We are bringing Skylar to her regular doctor's office. Right now." Ray said as we pulled away from their house and went the familiar way to Canada.
"What's wrong with her?" Mikey asked. I could see he was looking at me from the corner of my eye, but I couldn't look at him or do anything as I trembled with pain under Ray's jacket.
"H-Her... Her mom was abusing her. Just- long story." Ray replied, looking at Mikey through the rear-view mirror.
"Thank you for telling Gee for me. But I'm sorry you had to meet me while I am looking like this." I told Mikey, taking all I had to look over at him and give a weak smile.
His eyes opened wider and he looked at me funny for a second. "Wait, this little girl was the really fucking smart person that called me?!" He whisper-yelled to Ray. Gerard and Ray laughed.
"Who else?" Ray replied. I saw him look at me through the rear-view mirror, making his smile disappear. Gerard turned to look at me and I dove under the jacket. I trembled in pain and eventually Gerard spoke up.
"Skylar, what exactly is wrong?" Gerard asked. I let the jacket drop a little so I could look at him and properly address him.
"Gee, it feels like I'm being torn apart from the inside out and my head is a hive of hornets. It hurts." I replied.
"Oh, sugar. I can only imagine." He reached back and pulled a strand of my hair behind me ear, letting his hand linger on my cheek. I smiled back at him and kissed his hand. He sighed, but his hand stayed there, leaving me with a comfort to distract me from the pain.
"Thank you." I said though my shallow breathing. It had been about 30 minutes since Gerard had taken his hand away and the pain had subsided a bit, letting me not tremble in my seat.
"Anything for someone as amazing as you, Skylar." Ray replied. I closed my eyes and smiled before drifting into a sound sleep.
