Remembrance

As the last boring memory of my third year alive the screen went static. I knew what was coming next and it brought the corners of my mouth up from their frown.

"Skylar, are you ready to go?" My Aunty called. I looked down to my small arms which were carrying all my essentials. A sketch book, my pencils and my erasers.

"I'm ready! Let's go to Jersey!" I yelled. They all laughed at me before they buckled my seat belt and barrelled down the road. I watched as my little fingers held the pencils just right and sketched onto the blank page unsteadily. We hit
a bump and it messed me up. I sighs and erased it and started over. Soon I had a pretty accurate drawing of my dog.

"Look, look, mommy!" I said, waving around my picture.

She took it from my hands before giving it back. "Skylar, I told you to stop drawing her. It'll only make it worse."

"Sorry, mommy. " I sighed and looked at my drawing before flipping it to the back. "Aunty, what should I draw?"

"How about..." She pulled out her Nokia flip phone and pulled up something. "You try drawing him for me? When we get there, you can give it to him!" She smiled.

"Okay, Aunty." I said, taking the phone and looking at the picture of who I guessed was her new friend we were meeting. He had a big Afro and a pretty smile. I giggled before sketching the outline of his face. Soon I had his smile, eyes, and nose sketched. His hair quickly came before I started to shade everything in. The time went by so fast and soon we were there. I looked up and out the window to see a new house that I had never been in. He came out of his house and shut and Locked the door before jogging over towards out car. I smiled and quickly tried to coulour in the rest of the drawing.

"Hey Jen." He kissed my aunt on the cheek and smile at my mom. "Nice to see you again Melissa."

"Hi!" I said smiling at him as he finally sat in the back seat with me. He was really really tall compared to my 2'11 size. He smiled down at me.

"And you must be the famous Skylar!" He put his hands on his hips and laughing before putting his hand out. I shook his hand then went back to detailing the drawing.

"Oh, yes, Skylar, this is Ray." My aunt said uninterested in me as we drove away. Soon I had finished all the detailing of his hair and eyes. I smiled at it and held it up.

"Aunty, I finished!" I smiled. I gave her back her phone and passed her the drawing.

"What is it?" Ray asked, looking over her seat and trying to sneak a peak.

"You know how I told you she can draw, like, better then your friend Gerard I met the other day?" My aunt said to Ray. Ray nodded his head and rolled his eyes.

"Like its true." I frowned and crossed my arms. "No offense."

"Well, here is your proof. She drew this based off a blurry picture on my phone." She hande him the drawing. He smiled down at it and his eyes grew wide.

"Wow. Are you serious?!" He exclaimed. I stuck out my tongue at him. "I don't believe it!"

"Oh yeah?!" I challenged.

"Yeah!" He said, putting on a fake mad face. "Draw your aunt."

I took my pencil in hand as he looked over my shoulder. My hands slowly melts the lines I made into my Aunts face before detailing her bright blue eyes and blonde hair. I carefully put each streak of brown 'highlights' she had before holding it up infront of me and smiling.

"Here, you bum." I laughed and handed him the drawing. He gawked at it in surprise. I laughed.

"I can't believe this!" He commented. He pulled out his phone and snapped pictures of my drawings. Ten he pointed his camera towards me and said 'Say cheese!' I smiled as large as I could with wide eyes and he snapped the picture, laughing.

"Ray?" I asked after a really long silence in the car. Had my eyes closed and my head back because I had a huge headache from drawing to much.

"Yes?" He looked up from his phone as I looked over at him.

"How old are you?" I asked. Mom laughed and Aunty scowled at me.

"I'm 18." He laughed. I laid my head back again and close my eyes.

"Cool." He laughed at my response. "You bum."
