Take Me Away (Frerard)

"Wake up Frank." someone shakes me gently.

"Gerard?" I ask, eyes still closed.

"Wake the fuck up dip shit." Lindsey's voice startles me and my eyes open.

"What happened?" I ask.

"Stupid Leon was trying to scare you." she frowns, looking over to the tall blonde man in the cell and he
looks at me with a satisfied grin.

"Where's Gerard?" I ask.

"Right here." he answers from behind me and I sit up to look at him, "Lindsey let me out." he explains and
I look from Gerard to Mikey and then back to Lindsey.

"Thank you." I say hoarsely.

"Frank?" Mikey says and I look at him, "Don't fucking steal my car again!"

"I was borrowing it!" I whine and he rolls his eyes.

"Lets get you fuckers out of here." Lindsey suggests and none of us argue.

I watch as the three of them step ahead of me on their way to the elevators.

"I'm gonna get you one of these days...Frankie." Leon spits and it sends shivers down my spine.

I follow quickly behind Gerard and we stop before then metal doors of the elevator.

"Look over to the left." Lindsey commands and we do, "See that door? That will take you straight out to
the back of the building by the dumpsters. Walk around to the front and then you'll be at the parking lot.
Understand?" she demands and we all nod, "Good, and don't tell anyone that I helped you. I don't want to
be caught up in all this drama."

Mikey, Gerard and I follow her directions and she stops me quickly, "239, don't forget it." she whispers into
my ear and I shiver.

"Okay." I agree and I'm on my way.

As the three of us tumble into Mikey's car he starts the engine and begins to drive in silence.

"How did you find me?" I ask Mikey, breaking the silence from the passenger seat.

"Lindsey called me after she left you down there. She told me to come quickly and meet her by the
entrance." he says cooly.

"I'm sorry man," I apologize.

"For what?" he asks.

"Stealing your car. I should've asked for your permission, but I thought you'd say no."

"I would have said no Frank, and for a very good reason. What are you going to do with Gerard now?" he
sighs.

"I have some money hidden away in my room, so I figured I grab it and make my way to a different town.
Belleville won't be safe for us once the police find out Gee's missing." I answer quietly, not making eye
contact.

"Frank, it won't ever work. Some how, someone will recognize Gerard and you'll be screwed!" Mikey
groans.

"Excuse me?" Gerard calls from the back seat.

"What?" I snap at him and he winces.

"Frankie, who's this man driving us?" he asks quietly.

I snap my head up and look over at Mikey in shock. Gerard doesn't know his own brother.

"You didn't tell him?" I ask in growing outrage.

"Frank, there's nothing to tell." he sighs.

"Who are you?" Gerard asks louder this time.

"He's your-"

"Cousin," Mikey finishes.

"Cousin?" Gerard asks questioningly.

"Yeah, I was you and your brother's first cousin." he lies smoothly.

"What happened to my brother?" Gerard mumbles.

"He died in a car crash." Mikey explains, "Your parents were devastated. You were already in the Institute
when it happened, and they couldn't let you go to the funeral."

"What happened to my parents? Bob told me that they were dead." he continues to ask.

"Bob?" Mikey questions, "Well, whoever Bob is was wrong. Your parents, Donna and Donald, moved
within 3 months of your brother's death. Too many bad memories, they had to leave."

"Oh." Gerard says and then there's silence.

Mikey turns the car into the street towards his house. Driving slowly to the driveway.

"Oh, are we going inside?" Gerard yawns and I look at Mikey shake his head.

"Frankie, can I talk to you for a second?" Mikey asks and steps out of the car.

I follow his lead and walk to his front porch where he hands me his car keys.

"Mikey?" I ask.

"Take my car, go to your house and get the money. Then, when your done, get the hell out of this town. If
anyone catches Gerard, he'll be killed for sure. If anyone asks me about you two, I'll come up with
something." he states and then falls silent.

"You could always come with me." I offer and he shakes his head.

"I have to wait here for my mom. Call me sometime though, you know? Keep me posted." he smiles
weakly.

"Thank you man, seriously, you're the best." I smile back and engulf him into a bear hug.

"Love you Frankie." he whispers to me.

"Love you too man." I agree.

I back away and Mikey hands me something else, a small pill bottle.

"Lindsey told me to tell you that Gerard needs to take 2 of these a day before breakfast." he informs and I
nod my head.

"Talk to you soon." I promise and Mikey laughs before unlocking his front door and leaving me standing
alone.

Back in the car I notice that Gerard has climbed over to the passenger side.

"Off we go Gerard!" I smile and he stares at me blankly.

"Frank." he says and I suck in a breath.

"Yes?" I answer.

"Was that man really my cousin?"

I stay silent for a minute before answering his question.

"Y-yes. He was, why do you ask?" I say.

"He just...looked like someone I used to know." Gerard shrugs and I laugh nervously.

"He probably just looked like your cousin, now let's get this show on the road!" I exclaim and Gerard
laughs with me.

As I back out of the driveway I see Mikey peek out of his window and wave down to me and I smile. Time
to get going, I think to myself and slowly drive away.
