The Only Hope For Me Is You

If We Could Run Away.

I pull my phone out of my pocket to ignore yet another call from Bob,

Fuck you.

I press the red icon on my screen and I finally turn my phone off.

As I'm strolling down the block, with my hands shoved deep into my pockets, I notice the amount of pain my feet are in.

Shit, fucking converse.

My thoughts are interrupted by a bright flash of light across the darkened sky with a loud clap of thunder following shortly after. It is then that I realize I've been walking for hours and it's about to rain. I pull my red hood over my head and speed up my pace just a bit. The rain starts to fall as a neon blue sign catches my eye,

Four Pins Bar and Grill

I shrug and jog across the street to the bar as I begin to get drenched in rain. I reach the front door and pull it open. As I walk through the door the bell on the top causes a few faces to glance in my general direction. I smile sheepishly while waving awkwardly and they resume their lives. I stand by the door and take in the scenery, a dingy old bar with tons of wooden tables and chairs illuminated by dim yellowed light bulbs. My eyes start to get irritated by the fine layer of dust covering the stained wood floor. I glance over at the bar and make my way over to an empty stool as I slide my hood of my head. Taking a seat I run my hand through my hair and take a deep breath, relieved to rest my aching feet but worried about where to go from here, where ever "here" was.

"Hey, what could I get ya?"

I glance up at the woman talking to me, I fidget with my hands,

"Uh," I pause for a moment, stopping myself from ordering something light like Corona.

Dude, you had a hard couple of days. Treat yourself.

"Let me get a Bulleit Neat?" The bartender raises her eyebrows and her brightly colored red lips part to form her sentence,

"Woah there dude, straight up Bourbon! Are you sure?" I break eye contact with her, slightly annoyed with her questioning my choice,

"Yes I'm sure." I say, coming off a bit bitchy. She nods, sensing my frustration and turns her back to me and I zone out for a couple of minutes as she prepares my drink,

'Where do I go from here? I have no idea where I am, and I doubt the guys want to see me. I'm fucked.'

The sound of a glass slamming down on the counter in front of me makes me jump. The bar tender recoils at my reaction and her red lips curve into a smile,

"Hey, you okay man?" I rub the back of my neck awkwardly and curl my fingers around the glass.

"Uh, yeah yeah I'm cool." I say keeping my eyes trained on the glass as I bring it up to my lips and take a quick swig, I put the glass back down and twist my face up at bitterness and stinging in my throat. I notice this lady has been staring at me the whole time, making me a bit uncomfortable,

"What's your name?" She says, smiling at me for about the third time in past ten minutes.

"Frank." She nods thoughtfully,

"Mmm Frank," she cocks her head to the side, "yeah the name totally suits you." I furrow my eyebrows and wrap my hand around the glass again,

"Uh, thanks? What's your-" I don't get to finish my sentence because she grabs my hands,

"Woah! Your tattoos are amazing dude!" She runs her fingers over my 'hopeless' and 'romantic' tattoos.

"Thanks," I mutter feeling uncomfortable with the unwanted physical contact. She scrunches up her nose, and runs her thumbs over my fingers,

"These ones on your hands, what are they supposed to mean?" I slide my hands out of her grasp and aline my knuckles up together revealing my 'halloween' and 'bookworm' tattoos. I allow a small grin to settle on my face as her mouth hangs open in amazement,

"'Dude!'" She gasps, "these are the sickest tattoos I've ever seen!" She says bringing her face closer to my hands.

"Thanks." I repeat for the third time. Her eyes lock with mine,

Woah she's.. Beautiful.

She straightens up and chuckles while running her hand through her blonde hair, exposing her black roots.

"Oh my gosh, here I am invading your privacy and I haven't even introduced myself!" She expends and arm from behind the counter to me revealing a colorfully tattooed arm.

"I'm Lindsey." I shake my head,

"Don't worry about it Lindsey." A man opens the door and walks towards Lindsey closing his umbrella, sending a cool blast of wind my direction, making me shiver under my wet clothes.

"Come on Lindsey, we gotta close up now." She nods at the man,

"Kay Grant, it'll be closed up in 10 minutes." The man grunts and disappears through a door behind the counter.

"Aw man, you must be freezing in those clothes. You need an extra pair? I'm sure we got some stuff in the back. I'll ask Grant to get you something." Lindsey says turning toward the door, but I shake my head.

"No I'm fine, my uh-" I think for a split second, "car is down the block. I should get going now anyway." She faces me again,

"You sure because I could-" I hold my hand up,

"No I'm fine thank you though." I take out my wallet, "how much for the drink?" She shakes her head.

"It's on the house."

"You sure?" She smiles and stretches over the counter to pat my shoulder,

"Yeah, you seem like a good guy, don't worry about it." I put my wallet back in my pocket and stand up.

"Well I think I should get going then," I shake her hand, "thanks again Lindsey."

"No problem! I hope to see you soon Frank!" She waves at me as I exit through the door back into the pouring rain.

'I have no idea where I'm going.' I scan the darken streets until I spot a bus stop a block away. 'Yes!'

As I reach the bus stop and stand there for a couple of minutes, freezing my ass off and then I notice hardly any cars are coming down the block. I check the bus schedule and see when the last bus comes, 11:45. I turn on my phone and check the time, 12:15. Fuck now I really gotta call the guys.

After a few moments of fighting with myself on whether or not I should call anyone I scroll down my contacts list and call Ray. The phone rings a couple of times and I hear His voice,

"Frank! Frank, where are you I'm so sorry, I'll come get you. Are you okay? It's late dude!" The coldness from standing outside makes my fingertips burn and my nose run, I sniff once answer Ray.

"It's okay dude, I'm just really cold and wet right now. I'm sorry for-" I hear three tones indicating the conversation ended. I remove my phone from my ear, and my heart sinks when I see my screen turning off.

'Fuck, my phone died and now I'm stuck out here in the cold.'

I start to tear up at the hopelessness of my situation and I immediately regret my choice of running from the guys. My instinct tells me to go back to the bar but I now they're closed by now. Completely out of decisions, I sit on bench next to the bus stop and allow my tears to mix with the rain streaming down my face.

"Frank?" I snap my head up squint at the car that has stopped in front of me. The car window comes down a little lower until I can see the person's face.

"Lindsey?"

"Dude what are you doing out here?" I shrug,

"Having a party." She laughs and waves me on,

"Come on in Frank." I hardly know this chick, but I'd rather be with a complete stranger than in the rain by myself anyday.

I hop off the bench and open enter her car,

"Thanks." She pulls off,

"Is that all you say?" I smile as I notice how much I thanked her.

"No, It just seems like you've been really nice to me in the short time we've met. Why is that?" I ask shifting so I'm looking at her, she keeps her eyes trained on the road.

"I don't know, you just seem like a real cool dude. I just like you for some reason." She says nonchalantly.

"Oh." We stay silent for a few moments until she breaks the silence,

"You said your car was close, but obviously there's so car. Why are you out here by yourself?" I shrug,

"My friends are asshole." She nods,

"Mmmm, I've been there before. I'll drop you home then."

I smile, "Thanks, again." She laughs at my repeated saying and I give her directions to my house. As we reach my house she parks and looks at me,

"I'm sorry that your friend have you feeling so alone Frank, here's my number." She takes a pen and paper out of her purse and scribbles down her number. It is then that I notice her distressed blue jeans and her black Ramones shirt. She's stunning and her style seems to be just as amazing. She hands me the paper.

"You're so.. Kind." I say feebly and at a loss of words. She smiles,

"No, I'd just rather make people feel good about themselves rather than crappy."

"And you're beautiful." My word vomit shocks me just as much as it shocks her,

"Frank," she says softly. I completely disregard anything else she attempts to say. As I lean forward and cup my hand around the back of her neck and gently brush the hair off her face.

"So beautiful." I begin to close the distance between our faces as I grab her hand,

"May I?" She looks flustered, but she nods slowly. I lean further in and allow my lips to press against hers very lightly. She releases my hand and places a hand on my chest as the other is tangled in my wet hair, desperately pushing me closer. Her tongue runs across my lower lip, causing me to smirk at her desire for me. I allow her access my mouth as we share a heated kiss for a few moments. We pull away, and as I open my eyes I can almost see the flames behind her eyes.

"Take me upstairs."

I really want to tell you, but I don't want to mess it up for those who haven't read this yet by putting the answer in the comments you know? I'm sorry but I'll tell you exactly where to find that little part that will answer your question. It's toward the end of chapter 10 (I Miss Them All Tonight) sorry for confusing you if I did!

Wait sorry I forgot who Vincent is and I'm too lazy to comb through all the chapters to find out, I'm assuming he is an imaginary friend? Something like that?
