Crimson and Gold
As razor sharp white teeth rip out our necks
I pushed him off of me and growled. "Fine. We can start tonight." I said, rolling back the stone door to my tomb.
Candles were lit all around, but the room was still dark and cold. It smelt like lavender with a hint of rotting flesh. A coffin was lined with various silk sheets and old quilts. A stained white dress laid in the corner of the room. Along one wall, there was a long table that homed many candles, clothes, books, and jewelry.
I took off my dress, not caring if Gerard saw. If I tried to hide it, he'd want to see it even more, so why put in all of that effort? I found my black tights, black mid-length skirt, and a black t-shirt I scabbed off of one of my victims. I grabbed a backpack that was full of clothes, make-up, and a small sum of cash.
I nodded at Gerard and we walked out of my tomb, rolling the door shut behind us. I walked back through the woods and to the throne room. It wasn't much of a room. It was open forest, but lanterns and candles hung everywhere, plus a few cages where mother kept her hell-hounds if things got ugly.
I walked straight up to her throne, not bowing or any of that bullshit. "We're going to the surface." I announced.
Gerard got down on one knees, bowing his head while I stood there with my bag hanging off of one shoulder.
She nodded, "Be back on two weeks."
I nodded back and turned to walk away, smacking Gerard's head as I went past where he scrambled to his feet and followed me back to a different end of the cemetery.
The stones were very worn and jagged. Half of the names couldn't be read, let alone the poems or kind words written underneath. Dry flowers were scattered everywhere and wax dripped down the stones and to the dead grass beneath. I lead him to one in the very middle. It was very large and the least weathered. The doorway was about four feet high, but it was worth the big statue that sat on top. It was the upper torso and head of a man in a post-military uniform. He had short hair and.... wait...
"Gerard? Does this tombstone look familiar to you?" I asked, stopping in front of the tomb
"Yes, I've been here before." he still had a wiry smile
"You're wearing the same thing and everything..." Yep. This is why mother wanted me to train him, so we could be closer and she'd be the supreme of both the underworld, and the living world. Gerard was some kind of bridge to the living world, but how? This was going to be fun...
