Everything Will Be Ok

Chapter 80

***Gerard’s POV***
My breath hitched as I could not fully receive the information I was just told. “Are you ok, Gerard?” Mikey asked giving me a concerned look along with Brooke. “Y-yeah…I just need to get some air…” I mumbled softly while exiting the hospital building into the parking lot. I sat down at the curb as I tried to collect my thoughts. Was it really her stepmother that had checked Taylor out of the hospital? The same woman that physically abused her and kicked her out of her own home to leave her on the streets? No it couldn’t have been. Could it? All these troubling thoughts ran through my head as my eyes began to tear up. If it was her stepmother that had brought her back home, then there was a big possibility that she was going to hurt her again. I didn’t have to know her that well to know that she was sick and twisted in the head to abuse her own step daughter like that. A tear escaped from one of my eyes as I quickly wiped it away with my sleeve. ‘Don’t cry Gerard. Don’t cry. Everything will be ok. Don’t cry.’ I thought to myself, trying to keep myself in control of my emotions. As I buried my head into my knees, I began to feel a light tap on my shoulder. I jolted my head up to see Mikey standing above me. “Gerard…are you ok? Why did you storm out of the hospital like that?” He asked giving me a puzzled look. “I’m fine Mikes…Like I said I just really needed some fresh air…” I lied. “Gee I’m not stupid, I can tell there is something troubling you.” He spoke as he then took a seat next to me on the curb. “It’s Taylor…” I began. “What about Taylor? Aren’t you happy for her? She’s well and back home with her family.” I then remember how I had actually never explained to Mikey about Taylor’s situation with her stepmother. “Mikey…Taylor isn’t safe at home. Her stepmother is abusive and beats her. She even forced her to leave the house which is why she came to live with us in the first place.” I explained. There was a pause “Oh…I didn’t know…” There was now a hint of sorrow in his voice. “It’s not your fault, I didn’t really get the chance to tell you…” I replied as he then threw his arm around me and began to rub my back for comfort. “Well why we don’t try to get her out of there tonight.” He suggested. I sighed. “It’s not that easy Mikes…Her stepmother wouldn’t give her up that easy this time. Plus she could report me for trying to take her away from her.” I said covering my face with my hands in frustration. “Well don’t worry, we will eventually find a way to sneak her out, even if it means it will take a few days or weeks.” He spoke softly. “I guess you’re right…I just miss her so much.”

***Taylor’s POV***
After a few hours I had finally cried myself out dry. I knew that crying wouldn’t get me anywhere so I just decided to head up to my room so I can rest and forget about everything. As I was heading up the stairs, I accidently bumped into Sheila. She was holding a huge load of laundry as it all fell to the ground when we collided into each other. I looked back up at her. “I-I’m s-sorr-“She cut me off abruptly. “Look what you did!” She shrieked, her face turning a deep shade of red. “I didn’t mean to…” I whimpered as she slapped me hard across the face. “Ow!” I wailed. “You better clean this up now or else!” She ordered. Without hesitation, I began to pick up the dirty articles of clothing one by one and placed them neatly in the basket. “Now I want you to bring all the clothes downstairs.” I stood there silent. “Now!” She yelled. “But- but I can’t do that with my arm like this.” I replied, motioning over to my heavy cast. “I said do it now or I’ll give you another broken arm!” She hissed. With that I picked up one side of the basket with me free hand and carefully lifted the other side with my other injured hand. I groaned as I hauled the load of laundry down the stairs, being careful of each step. She then began to follow me down until I had finally reached the last few steps when she pushed me hard, causing me to fall to my feet and the laundry to fly everywhere. I shrieked in pure agony as I laid face to face with the hard, wooden floor. “You need to stop being so clumsy, Taylor.” She remarked with a smirk. “Shut up, you pushed me!” She chuckled. “Stop your nonsense Taylor and clean that all up again!” She yelled once again, causing the hairs on my neck to stand up. “I-I can’t” I cried. “Well if you’re not going to do as I tell you, then you left me with no choice.” She replied as she yanked me up by the arm and dragged me over to the hall closet. “What are you doing?!” She ignored my question. “Get in!” She ordered, motioning towards the small, empty closet. “What? No way!” I argued. “I said get in!” She yelled again. “No you can’t make me Sheila!” She then shoved me straight into the closet and slammed the closet door in my face. “Remember what I said? For now on you will not call me Sheila but you will call me Mom, got it?” I then began to hear the lock on the door fasten. “I got it…” I replied, causing several tears to flow down my cheeks. She had really done it this time…I then tried wiggling the handle as the closet door refused to open. Yep it was official… I was locked in…
