Chapter 52

I did as Gerard said and quickly got dressed in my own clothes this time. Once I finished, I hurried down to meet him. “Hey, so what’s the surprise?” I asked inquiringly. “You’re going to have to wait and see.” He said rattling his car keys in front of me. “We have to drive there?” I asked groaning. “Yep, so if you want to see the surprise, you better hop in the car.” He ordered as I followed Gerard into his station wagon, anxious for the surprise he had waiting for me. As I sat down in the seat next to him, he then began to put the keys into the ignition and started the car.

It wasn’t long until we were parked in front of an old, run-down music shop. “We’re here.” He exclaimed as he assisted me out of the car. The sign on the building read “Rockin’ Records.” I furrowed my eyebrows to face Gerard. “Is this the surprise?” I asked giving him a puzzled look. “Nope. Here come with me.” He beamed, dragging me inside the front doors. As we entered, the bell at the top of the door sounded, signaling our arrival. My gazes traveled around the whole store in astonishment when a young male in his mid-twenties sauntered up to the front counter. “Ay Gerard!” He welcomed in a strong Jersey accent. “Dave! I didn’t know you worked this shift?” The man sighed. “Yeah, since business has been going down and we’ve been running out of staff, I’ve been working a lot more hours lately. Anyways, how’s it going with you?” My hand was holding tightly on to Gerard’s hand, as I kept myself hidden behind him, trying not to make verbal interaction with the young cashier. “I’ve been doing pretty well actually.” He replied with a grin. “I see you brought someone with you.” The man named Dave said gesturing towards me. “Ah yes. This is my girlfriend Taylor.” Gerard remarked proudly. “Wow, it’s not that often that I see you in here with a girl. I’m always used to seeing you with your bro Mikey.” Gerard chuckled. “Well it’s nice to meet you Taylor. I’m Dave.” He said reaching out his tatted arm to shake my hand. I didn’t reply, but instead just smiled. “She’s a nice one.” Dave mentioned, causing my cheeks to grow pink. “Yeah I know, and she’s all mine.” Gerard then wrapped his arm around me as if he was marking me as his territory. “Well you two lovebirds can look around the store for anything you want. And since, you are my favorite customer, I’ll give you a discount on any album you buy today. “Dave offered. “Thanks man!” He replied as he quickly pulled me over to a small section in the back. “I’m confused Gerard, you said that there was going to be a surprise?” I asked disorderly. “Well here it is! Right here.” Gerard exclaimed holding up an album from one of the racks. I glanced over at the CD as the album cover read. “I brought you my bullets, you brought me your love.” “What’s this?” I asked. “It’s my CD!” I looked at him trying to understand what he was getting at. “What do you mean?” I then took the Album out of his hands as I began to look it over more. “It’s all the songs Mikey and I wrote. Mikey, Frank, Ray, and I all recorded some songs and they finally got released a couple of days ago on this very CD.” I turned the album over. “What is My Chemical Romance?” I questioned. “That was the name we gave us. I mean we’re not really a band or anything, but we used to record these songs a couple of years ago, and we thought we could use a name.” My eyes widened. “Wait so you’re telling me that this exact album in this music store is your guys’ songs that you recorded?” He nodded with a wide grin on his face. “Yeah we never expected it to ever get released. I mean we were just fooling around.” I squealed as he brought me into a huge bear hug. “This is amazing! Why didn’t you tell me about this before? “I asked bringing my eyes to meet his. “Like I said, I never thought that it would get recognized enough to get marketed in stores.” I gave him a big kiss on the lips. “Oh Gerard, we have to get this! I want to listen to every single song.” He giggled. “Alright.” He replied as we walked back up to the front counter. “I see you guys found something.” Dave said as we placed Gerard’s album in front of him.” He then scanned it over. “Great choice.” He said with a smirk. “Your total is 11.68” Gerard then gave the man the money as we began to walk out of the store. “Bye Dave, I’ll probably come back tomorrow with Mikey.” He called back. “Alright I’ll be here.” He chuckled. As we were just about to head out the doors Dave stopped us.” Gerard?” He asked causing Gerard to turn around to face him. “Yeah?” “Make sure you bring your pretty girlfriend too.”
