Chapter 18

***Taylor’s POV***
I awoke the next morning with a gruesome pain in my back, head, and shoulders. I swung one leg over the edge of my bed, lazily forcing myself out of bed. I automatically ran over to my mirror to see the damage my stepmother left on my frail body. There weren’t any extremely visible bruises on my face, only the ones from the other day. I removed my top to examine all the purple and blue marks on the outline of my spine and shoulders. I snatched an oversized, Nirvana sweatshirt, some light blue skinny jeans, and got dressed. I was pleased to see that none of my wounds from yesterday, were visible from under my hoodie. I slipped on my black converse and headed out the door, ignoring my dad and walked my way to school.

The walk to school was a struggle. It was only a half mile away from my house, but it still hurt to walk or run. I limped to my first period math class, making sure that I wouldn’t be seen by Gerard. It’s not that I was mad at him or anything. It’s just that I knew that if he saw me, he would check on me to see if I was clean of bruises.

First period went by pretty fast, and it was now time for me to head over to art class. But today I wasn’t going to go to my second period. I was going to ditch. There was no way I was going to take any chances with Gerard finding out about the events that occurred last night. If he did find out, he would call the CPC, and that’s one thing that I really don’t feel like dealing with right now. I raced over to the girl’s bathroom and hid in one of the stalls, so no teachers would find me and send me back to class. For the next hour, I would be stuck in here till the bell for third period would go off. I sat myself down in the claustrophobic stall and slid out my phone to go through my Tumblr feed.
