Maybe They'll Leave You Alone But Not Me

I weaved through the throng of people and into the kitchen. Waiters and cooks moved about quickly, filling in orders and cleaning dishes. I observed the chaos with content. I grabbed a glass and made Irina;s water with a slice of lemon on the side. I left the noisy kitchen behind and made my way back to the door, where I last saw Irina. As i approached the door, she was no where to be seen. I glanced around, trying to catch a glimpse of her silver hair, but she was gone. I continued to search when a hand clamped down on my shoulder. I spun around to a smiling Ray, who had his arm around a blonde.

“Thanks for this man,” he shouted above the music and noise.

“You’re welcome.” I looked behind his bulky frame, but still couldn’t find her.

“Who’re you looking for?”

“Irina. I went to get her water and I came back and she was gone.”

“Oh, hey, I saw her outside. Some guy had his arms around her shoulder. He shoved her into the backseat of a surburban.”

“What the fuck. Oh shit. Shit. Shit, Shit.”

“Gerard, what’s wrong?”

“Ray, I need you to continue partying. I’ll see you later.” My heart raced as i shoved past people, dropping water all over them. I burst into the kitchen.

“FRANK, COME HERE.” Frank scampered in front of me, his face pinched and worry etched into his face.

“What’s wrong?”

“I need you to finish this party, clean up and lock up. Irina’s missing and I have to go.”

“Got it. Go. Here’s your keys.” I snacthed them up and ran off to find my beloved girl. I kept praying over and over, hoping she was okay.

“Damn it. I should’ve stayed with her.” I whispered. I started up my car and stomped the gas pedal, whipping out onto the street and to my house. “I’m coming, Irina, I’m coming.”
